Trust Pearson on this one. The transfer fee is neither here nor there for me. It's a very strange market and the striker market in particular is bonkers. Demba Ba sold for £4.7 mill, Ross McCormack to Fulham for £11 million? It does make it hard to judge if £7 mill is a lot or not - only time will tell on that one I suppose.

On the bright side he does seem like exactly the kind of guy we need. Not good news about his first touch but then Jamie Vardy had the touch of a rapist when he first joined us and has really improved in that respect - hopefully Leo will too.

Yeah he did.

"It will take a huge amount of money, possibly 10bn Thai Baht (£180m), to get there. That doesn't put us off." Srivaddhanaprabha added: "I am asking for three years, and we'll be there.

I doubt that the BBC would have reported it word-for-word had he not said it.

What about this: He said it, then realised it was a stupid thing to say and so tried to pretend tht he hadn't said it. That seems a whole lot more likely that the BBC just making the whole thing up.

I'm presuming you missed the whole thread at the time where it was clear there had been a **** up in the reporting of it. Where the actual reports written by the Thai journalists, differed massively from the rather selective reporting of the BBC.

And how much do you think Demba Ba was earning at Chelsea? People have to accept lower fees to get the players off the books, just as we did with Beckford.

Wow, my apologies, I just found out it had been moved, not deleted, but I have somehow rattled your cage. Have you got problems you'd like to talk about, I am sure I could be a very understanding counsellor for you.

Maybe it all started with your name, were you bullied at school, is your sister cleverer than you, these and many other things I could help you with.

I think you're aiming that at the wrong person.

Oh I see. So the real version of events emerged on a Foxestalk thread did it?

As per usual.

The irony of 7 million breaking a record is that everyone seems to be going about it like a broken record.

Pearson looks to have got his man, who cares if 'it seems a lot'

When you factor in the inflation it turns out that Akinbiyi actually cost more than the bid for Ulloa.

Akinbiyi's £5.5 million equates to just over £8million in today's money.

Gary, you and Danny Drinkwater would make a fantastic couple.

Know it's not Ulloa related, but have just posted this article in the 'new' Campbell thread.

Sky believe we are still favourites to get him alongside with Ulloa. Caulkner all but joined QPR now too.

I thought we came out and said he wanted to much money? Also thought it was pretty nailed on he was signing for Palace? Strange one.

bit sceptical about this, £7million is a lot for someone who is 27, has never played in the prem and didnt really set the championship alight last season but hopefully he'll do well for us and get some decent service. I'll withhold judgement until the season begins though as NP knows what he's doing.

Also, does this spell the end for Wood then?

When MON signed Claridge I thought he was past it not good enough for the Prem. He was fantastic getting us up and in his first season in the Prem was amazing.

I think he will make the leap.

With our previous buying history, one could assume the worst with that £7m price and "record signing" tag.

These are the sort of sums we're not used to yet when it comes to our club, so I'd rather sign two for £3m instead and take it from there.:P

Apart from the usual reservations regarding Ulloa and the step up to the Premiership (the same could be said about 80% of our current squad), I'm slowly warming up to this transfer.

Something inside of me still fears the worst, though.

We shall overcome the doubts - all he's got to do is deliver...

(No pizza boy jokes here!)

It's called using your brain. It's not particularly hard to trace stories online when they are all dated.

Can't wait till we've been in the prem for a couple of seasons and we start paying 20, 30 and 40 million quid for players, this place will go into cyber meltdown.

I Don't see the point in worrying about the price, or Ullou himself. The transfer makes sense, he ticks all of the boxes and since the signing of Albrighton further highlights the need for this kind of player. We know full well Nigel and his team are very thorough before moving in for a player, and When you watch Leo's goals it clear to see why they want him, he's an opportunist and those kind of finishers flourish at the highest level.

For me this is a fantastic signing, to have a successful side you need to sign the right players (rocket science), it's okay others laughing at our signings but what's the point in chasing dreams? You sign players who'll complement your style and system, hence Ulloa....

I don't get it, a 45 page thread and we actually might be signing the player it's about at the end of it? Next thing you know Maynard will sign

No way would we spend £6.5mil on Leo Ulloa. He's worth around half of that anyway. I'm not saying I wouldn't take him because if we could get him for around £3.5mil I'd take him as he's a good target man and averages roughly a goal every other game for Brighton. But £6.5mil is just an unrealistic figure.

Besides if I could chose any player from Brighton's side I would pick Will Buckley.

mate, Carrol went for 35 milion... we should be rubbing our hands!
