tylesta Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 i trust pearson's judgement to, but i'm not to confident for some reason on this transfer (hope i'm proved wrong) 7 million is alot of cash.
M0901 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Seems Pearson's finally got his man? Just seen on one of LCFC's twitter feeds... Is £7m a reasonable fee for someone who is unproven at top flight football? Besides his brilliant performance at our place last season, I don't really know too much about him. He seems to be a good aerial threat and deadly in front of goal but is he really worth the fee? Thoughts? Note: There may be a thread already about him I haven't really checked...

johnny the fox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Other than Clamydia probably not. I bow to your expertise..
Jace Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I think Pearson should have to write a cheque for the payment I bet he would be twitching and squirming all over the place signing such a large ammount
Ricey Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 It's a lot of money, but decent strikers cost a lot of money and I do believe he's more than capable of scoring goals in the Premier League. If we weren't signing him from Brighton, but instead from Argentina, everyone would be uncontrollably excited on here right now.
Fox92 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Do I think £7million is somewhat overpriced? Yes. Am I "worried" like the rest of you? A bit. But do I think we can get another player like him for that price? No. He's a target man, a player we need. I cannot think of another target man available realistically. He's a totally different player to Campbell, to Hooper, or whoever else is suggested. I'm backing Nige every step of the way here. He knows what he is doing, as does Steve Walsh, and 95% of our signings have highlighted that. You can't win with some people. One minute it's "were going down even Burnley have signed more players than us" now it's "Pearson hasn't got a clue". If the lad was from Europe or from another premier league club nobody would question the £7million. But because he's a "Championship" player people moan. A term I use lightly because "Championship" players can make the step up. At times there isn't a great difference. Haven't Liverpool just signed Lambert and Lallana?
Jace Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 In Pearson we trust, lets face it as shrewd as he is not even Pearson could build a decent Premiership squad on £400k signings. Wouldn't trust anymore than him or Tony Pulis in the Premiership right now to make sensible signings
lgfualol Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Wow, I just read he's been offered 45k a week. No wonder he's packing his bags.
Corky Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Not comfortable with the price because it does bring extra pressure, although it's not the fault of the player. Hope he's a good addition to the squad and contributes positively and that we use him in the correct way.
TrentFox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I think Pearson should have to write a cheque for the payment I bet he would be twitching and squirming all over the place signing such a large ammountTo some degree, he is ! If this all goes tits up then it will indeed be NP's 'money' that gets affected. He will be aware of that.
dannythefox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 This has been Pearsons No1 target and we've not has a bloke this size Howard upfront since Howard so let's hope he comes good.
Harry - LCFC Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Plays a different game to our other forwards so fills a gap in that sense. Would also seem to fit into a game plan with the wingers we currently have, get the feeling he'd link up well with Vardy too. Dunno about him as a person but seems to have a decent attitude on the pitch. In terms of 'filling a role' in the squad he ticks the boxes in my view. Just a case of whether he has the ability.
Mark_w Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 The price we're paying for this guy disturbs me. Keeping Nigel Pearson last summer disturbed you, I wouldn't worry about it.
champions 08/09 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 i trust pearson's judgement to, but i'm not to confident for some reason on this transfer (hope i'm proved wrong) 7 million is alot of cash. I completely agree with you.
Steven Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 We're interested in signing him for £6.5 mill according to SkySports this morning. Always looked very handy whenever I've seen him play. Only half a million out.
lgfualol Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Quite excited about it now. One position that has now been strengthened. Presuming it doesn't go tits up.
Pegosteve Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 6ft 3Ins almost a goal every other game for BHFC, good strike record in his 90 games for Almeria in La Liga, don't look a bad signing to me. ¡Bienvenido y buena suerte Leonardo!
fox123 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Pretty glad this saga will be completed before we start our pre-season games and he gets the chance to gel with the squad and learn our system. Good move Nige. Welcome Leo.
lgfualol Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 This thread is just irritating. I request it to be locked until something actually happens. I've jinxed it. Time to post this on other threads.
DanTheFox07 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Brighton have really hiked his price up and ive not doubt there will be add ons with this deal, oh well were in the big League with the big boy's and gonna have to spend a fair penny or 2 to stay there.
johnny the fox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I heard nigel took off the gloves with no fingers, open up his purse with WD40 and sobbed when he got the guinea's out .. then went for a lay down.
