foxsake Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I think Ulloa is great; like a pound shop Suarez. A seven million pound shop Suarez. Without the hindrance of involuntary mastication of course. #whatsupdoc? Long live NFP!
Vlad the Fox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Good signing, very happy with this. In terms of strikers and the premier 7m isn't that much, we're not small time anymore. I'm confident that this time next year we will be hoping that we can hold on to him.
LCFC FOX Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Anyone remember that chant for Ulloa someone on here made up?
AKCJ Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Anyone remember that chant for Ulloa someone on here made up? No, but we should defo get "Whose that man from Argentina" going.
katieakita Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Assuming wages etc are all sorted what is not to like. Perhaps a Mr Stringer or Mr Peters might ask Nigel who long have they been looking at this guy, i think some on here might be in for a shock. clearly not a panic buy and someone who the manager wants. As for the money we are with the big boys now and things cost more so lets chill and watch things happen. If by now you haven't got faith or belief in where Nigel Pearson and his very large carefully selected backroom staff and team are taking us you never will
HankMarvin Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicesters-leonardo-ulloa-transfer-moves-3877095 Leicester's Leonardo Ulloa transfer moves closer as they agree record £7.5million fee
GingerrrFox Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 No, but we should defo get "Whose that man from Argentina" going. Who's that man from Argentina, Who's that man we all adore Ulloa is his name and he scores a goal a game And we won't mention Kermogant anymore.
Manwell Pablo Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Absolute kings ransom for a player I wouldn't be convinced about for half the amount but I guess there's nothing left to be done but get behind him, fear for him if he doesn't do something in the first few games and we don't get results he'll be our record signing by some distance and will get slaughtered by our lot early doors if he doesn't perform which is another thing that worrys me about the price tag. Hopefully we'll have a better season than Almeria had the last time he tried to play top level football.
copunk Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 just had a quick look on one of the brighton forums, one of the members is quoted as saying " good riddance, he can make way for class signings such as Chris O'Grady............. ..........wow
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Does look too much, but if fills a hole we need filling and we can afford it at the minute, needs must so let's hope it works out.
LCFC FOX Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Who's that man from Argentina, Who's that man we all adore Ulloa is his name and he scores a goal a game And we won't mention Kermogant anymore. I like it but I don't think Kermorgant fits, Beckford or Fryatt ?
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 LuaLua next as back up to our current wingers anyone?
foxsake Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 I like it but I don't think Kermorgant fits, Beckford or Fryatt ? You could keep Kermorgant and replace 'anymore' with 'no more'. That way you equalise the syllable count and retain the poetic impact. Otherwise you'll find yourself in a metric and rhythmic apocalypse of confusion and unfullfilment.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Perhaps a Mr Stringer or Mr Peters might ask Nigel who long have they been looking at this guy, i think some on here might be in for a shock. On a separate note, they first spotted Mahrez about 3 years ago (when they were at a game looking at another player) and kept tabs on his development. Their scouting network, led by Steve Walsh Senior, is extensive to say the least.
RedSoxUK Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Imagine a world where one of our players sold for 7mill - (Heskey went for 11 and we all know what we did with that money...) I can't see anyone signing our Drinkwater or Vardy for 7mill just yet... but in time perhaps players like Drinkwater and Mahrez will be worth their weight in gold like Adam Lallana, and Rickie Lambert. 7mill well spent? I don't think so, but if Pearson believes Ulloa is worth 7mill, then I believe it to be the right choice for our club - i'd rather take the gamble on a player like Ulloa than someone like Ross McCormack. I just hope the price tag doesnt go to his head, and instead a bunch of balls whipped in by Albrighton and Mahrez does. Better a 7mill dent and a potential goal scoring striker who offers more than Nugent / Wood, than a big red mark on our name come next summer. Good luck Ulloa, good luck Pearson in keeping him grounded, and good luck Brighton in spending your money.
RedSoxUK Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Imagine if he demands 31k a week... #outofourwagebracket Just guessing he'll be on 30k or just under based on Brighton's over achieving even before they signed him. But for 7mill you'd expect his wage to be decent. At least he wants to play for us, that to me tends to be the key as to why Pearsons signings are usually so successful. Doesn't matter how much you pay if a player is a club for the money rather than to play for the club you end up like QPR or Svens Leicester City Think this is the key thing to note and remember about this signing. Having that personal drive and goal to keep us in the premier league on our return is worth any amount of $$$. Our bunch will be showing that from game 1, like Sunderland did from game 25 onwards... He's great in the air, and maybe Kevin Phillips can teach him a thing or two on the ground - I look forward to seeing him on the team sheet, just a shame it will mean leaving a player out.

benpicko Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?305143-Ulloa-gone Everyone at Brighton suddenly thinks he was shit apparently
Mark_from_USA Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Welcome to the premier league....Leicester have spent £7million Yikes. Its real now...
Dan Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 My word. There's bias and then there's thinking that replacing this bloke with Chris O'Grady is a positive move for the club.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Glad we have this one out the way.... I still expect 1 more big signing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
roblcfc84 Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 I think if NP was so adamant to get this one through then he must rate him highly, so just got to trust his judgement. As for the price, I don't get why fans get so hung up on it. We are PL now, just got a huge pot for promotion and already have wealthy(ish) owners - prices will always be inflated. In reality 7 million isn't a huge fee anymore at this level, just feels it as we are used to championship fees. Could see a few come in now, as I suspect this was the priority deal.
KFS Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 @danielstorey85: Everyone prepare to replicate your Ross McCormack shock horror. Leicester are about to pay a silly fee for Brighton's Leonardo Ulloa. 0 Craig Croarkin @CraigCC8 2m Leicester are buying Ulloa from Brighton for a reported 9 million..... We'll do the Twitter searching, thanks

I think those of us who are old enough are still traumatised by our previous record signing. But Ulloa isn't Akinbye, and Pearson clearly wants this guy and thinks he can do a job for us in the PL. Good enough for me.
