Maybes Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Warming to this move more and more. Exactly the type of player we need. £7m will be cheap if he bangs the goals in.
crisp monster Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 We've knocked them down 3 mill - Nige and his team have watched him for a long time so know what he's about. A target man that has good anticipation latching on to Albrightons crosses - hope this goes through quickly
Fox92 Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 People make me laugh. "Get Wickham instead he has Premier League experience"... Where did he start again? Ipswich, in the Championship? ... It's as if people think players are automatically Premier League players and every player outside the top flight isn't good enough. Look at Rickie Lambert, end of.
Finnaldo Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I don't see people's problem with the price to be honest, some people have spent more on a lot worse and we all know that Ulloa is a capable player. His scoring ability isn't the only thing he's bringing. Along with Upson he's bringing an aerial threat up front as well as defensively (or do I heard from the Brighton forum) which is exactly what we need for our number one problem: set pieces. People have moaned about it all season quite rightly, but now when Pearson is sealing the problem for, shock horror, a Premier League pricetag with someone with experience and has proven themselves in the English game, and not someone for £500k out the Belgium Second Division playing against semi pros, we're up in arms. Lets be honest here, the Danish wonder kid for £8 million, or a proven target man with a good finish for £7-9 million?
ramadaone Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 OGrady to Brighton from Barnsley was the stumbling block but now that is sorted everything should be ok
me_plus_one Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I love him just for this Is his name pronounced correctly on the comms? Replaced to ll's with a j sound
lestajigs Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Over 7m not at all convinced with that price for him, surely there is better out there for that.price tag?? But in nige we trust!!
Robin JD Popley Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 In his 5 years with us so far, Nigel has only ever made what I would call one 'disaster' signing in Yann K and he even turned out to be good elsewhere so probably just wasn't suited to our style of play - so we know Nigel has more often than not brought us good players. He is entering his prime as a striker, he will want to prove himself on the biggest stage and I look forward to hearing 'WHO'S THAT MAN FROM ARGENTINA?' (unless we come up with our song for him) resonating around the King Power next season. Nice to (almost) have you here Leo!

cjslcfc Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Least wickham is a good age I don't know I'm not a scout I know but everyone seems to think it's easy to pluck out cheap players that are going to turn out to be superstars. Just because we've managed to have some great buys in Knockaert and Mahrez recently it doesn't mean we can do it over and over again. Yes we have splashed the cash but to me, having seen him play, I feel he is exactly what we need and offers us so much more than potential goals. Just as with Vardy his other attributes will be key. I can see him being able to bring so many people into play with his strength and hold-up abilities. In the premier league £7m is not to be sniffed at. We've only ended up paying that much because Brighton were in a position where they didn't want to sell and they knew we really wanted the player. That happens in modern football but if he has the impact to keep us up then £7m will feel like a very small sum indeed.
Jace Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 At least he wants to play for us, that to me tends to be the key as to why Pearsons signings are usually so successful. Doesn't matter how much you pay if a player is a club for the money rather than to play for the club you end up like QPR or Svens Leicester City
Corky Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 People say this but who the hell could we get? kingfox's extensive knowledge of the Venezuelan second and Cambodian third divisions would provide the answers
Tuna Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Better than the last Argentinia striker we signed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fernando_Pasquinelli
Robin JD Popley Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 kingfox's extensive knowledge of the Venezuelan second and Cambodian third divisions would provide the answers - One of my all time favourite comments on here Corky. Well played!
richardsfoxes Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Its alot of money, too much. In pearson we trust i guess, the fact that people like shane long were bought for 7M who is proved to get 10 goals + a season, lets see how it plans out.
Maybes Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 People also forget Jay Rodriguez cost Southampton a similar amount with a similar goalscoring record.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Imagine if he demands 31k a week... #outofourwagebracket

This If he was a few years younger I'd feel happier about the fee. He's the one we wanted and you can't say that we don't do our homework.
PAULCFC Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Not in my widest dreams would i ever have imagined that Chris "the biz" o' Grady was the one thing that was dragging this on!
richardsfoxes Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 I stand corrected, lets wait and see what this guy offers, be interesting to see what the team is going to look like, who he will play upfront, wingers and centre halfs.
CKB Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 7 mil is steep but that's football nowadays, i trust Nige and his team with this one...
Buggsteam Posted 17 July 2014 Posted 17 July 2014 Hopefully we might be able to score from a corner now. Happy with this signing. Good strong powerfull player who knows where the net is. With Albrightons crosses he could reach double figures for us.
