bovril Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Wisbech has some lovely buildings and a lot of history but for as long as I can remember it has had a reputation as being rough as fvck and very isolated. It has that 'frontier town' feel. Lynn vs Wisbech games were always good for a punch up. As an aside, kudos to Born Blue for splendid use of the criminaly under-used word 'Horrid'!
fazzyfox Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Haverhill.London overspill and industrial site city.Out of interest shy did you go to Haverhill,it's not a place you pass or want to visit and I should know,I go to that pit at least twice a week. Ashamed to say reluctantly living there, want to be in Linton just 7 miles up road but it's £70,000 extra on the house price. This happens to a lot of Linton people who want to stay close but are forced out by house prices since the village became a commuter hub for Cambridge and M11. Knew town as fathers hometown but it's shockingly bad and deteriating still. Fires on doorstep, Sky cable cut with knife, less and less transport links and our council tax is spent on Bury St Edmunds facilities.
kingcarr21 Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 As i worked away from home i visited many places. The bad ones were.. Lowestoft Sizewell Morecambe Blackpool Kincardine Canvey Island Port Talbot But the worst by far has to be Seaton Carew in Hartlepool. Absolute Dump. Im sure all the people to of ever been shown on Jeremy Kyle all come from here.
Fox92 Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Just found this: 'The worst places in Britain' by the Telegraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/picturegalleries/10360428/Crap-Towns-Returns-top-ten-worst-places-in-Britain.html?image=3 Nice to see both Cov and Nun'ton on the list York!??

Finnegan Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Belgrave Is much nicer than New Parks, Beaumont Leys, the Saff et all. Why would you choose Belgrave of all of our city estates to pick on? I'm sure I can't fathom why, especially as I wouldn't want to jump to negative opinions about someone's character.
Dan Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Portsmouth. What gets me most about Portsmouth is that I've heard people saying it's a nice place. It's easily in the top five shitholes I've been to in England.
bovril Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 All I know about Portsmouth is that it isn't a good place to be a paediatrician.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 Everything about Portsmouth looked shit, when I went a couple season's ago to Fratton Park. There's bugger all to Portsmouth. Without the port, it's basically a KFC and some railings. Not even tumbleweed. Skegness has to be about the worst town, it's an absolute hole. The only reason to go there is to stop taking your own surroundings for granted. It's like a postcard of a mediocre beach that someone's wiped their arse on then brought to life. Grantham - not the worst, but it's one of those places that has that creepy Sunday vibe about it, hoovers any feeling of well-being from your senses Redruth. I was in Newquay a couple of years ago with the missus and we went out for a drive, I followed the signs to Redruth as I'd heard about it and assumed it would have an attraction or eating. Nope. It's a few hills chock full of shite houses, empty streets and the sparsest shopping centre imaginable
Saxondale Posted 12 May 2014 Author Posted 12 May 2014 Grantham isn't that bad, it's a fairly dull but inoffensive place. Granted, it has been overran with thieving Eastern Europeans as of late but that's hardly the town's fault. It's not inoffensive - it offends me. Are you the mayor of Grantham? Sorry mate, your town is a disgrace.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 How has York managed to make it onto a list of the worst places in the UK?
Filbert's Friend Posted 12 May 2014 Posted 12 May 2014 How has York managed to make it onto a list of the worst places in the UK? Christ knows! I live in York and it's bloody gorgeous!

Beaumont Leys is and the Saff are horrid.
Dan Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Skegness is a dive. Went a couple of weeks back and it's gone downhill IMO. I'm aware it was hardly at a great height to go downhill from in the first place but the place was lifeless and that's one thing you can rarely use against it.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Skeg beach is fine and during the height of the summer holidays gets absolutely rammed. It'd be nice to get some shopping done without having to go to Boston or Lincoln, but other than that I don't know what people really expect. It's got a huge beach, ice cream stands, chippies, mini golf, tacky souvenir shops, a swimming pool and some pubs. What more do you want?
Finnegan Posted 13 May 2014 Posted 13 May 2014 Come on, New Parks is no way comparable to the other two. Beaumont Leys is and the Saff are horrid. Is Mossgate really that much nicer than Neston?

Bugg Posted 14 May 2014 Posted 14 May 2014 Although I don't think Stoke is as bad as people like to make out. Burslem is an absolute dive of a town in the area.

Pictured: A majestic lion in Leicester's Town Hall Square Comments (1)Nottingham has been named as one of the 10 worst places to live in England. Leicester's 'rival' and near neighbour is placed at number eight in the list, complied by website I Live Here. Leicester does not figure in the list. I Live Here admits it has compiled its 2014 rundown based on comments left online about locations, rather than on "hard statistical evidence". However, the latest national crime figures suggest Nottingham is unlikely to fare any better against Leicester next time round. Scathing comments about Nottingham quoted on the website include: "Well, I’ve been living in Nottingham for four months now and it is easily the least friendly, intolerant city I have ever had the displeasure of inhabiting." Another poster says: "I’ve lived there all my life and I don’t think I’ve ever been into town, day or night, without seeing someone being attacked or harassed, or some dregs of society having it out in the street." However, the site also quotes a poster who describes Leicester as "a dump". I Live Here says of its top 10 rundown: "Here we have it, the Top 10 Worst places to live in England for 2014. "This list is not based on any hard statistical evidence, but the volume of comments on Chavtowns." It adds that it has applied to the police for information about crime, "so next year's figures should take the volume of anti-social of behaviour in the area as well". Figures show that 2,449 crimes were reported in Nottingham city centre in January to March this year, compared to 2,377 in Leicester in the same period.
