MC Prussian Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 All the best Lloyd, two divisional titles, 30-odd goals and a real cult hero. Shame he didn't want to stay but fair enough with a longer deal. Only Kingy left from the League One days now. I like the way you're omitting Logan on purpose.
Dan Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Not really been watching for long enough to know what a legend looks like. Only read about them and watched them on Youtube. If Dyer isn't a legend then he's certainly the closest I've seen in my time supporting Leicester. This.
David Guiza Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 It's tough to compare the likes of Muzzy and Lennon with King and Dyer. Anyone can see that Lennon and Muzzy are in a completely different league with regards to class, but without the likes of King and Dyer, we may still be rotting away at the bottom of the Championship, or even worse with Cov. They've seen us through the tough times, with a touch of class along the way.
Corky Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 I like the way you're omitting Logan on purpose. More the fact he didn't play that year and was out on loan during the season
Bert Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 I wouldn't call him a legend, he's not good enough to be a legend. Surely there should be more to legendary status and a club like Leicester City than playing with us for a few years? He's never even played in the top flight for us. Cult hero is fair enough, 'ex City favourite' would be an accurate description that you might see in the Merc one day, but legend is too much. He is a significant player from this era. Yeh but Lennon won actual trophies with us and played in the top flight, and with all due respect to Lloyd he was at least twice the player Dyer is. I forgot that the old division 1&2 were pretend trophies.
MC Prussian Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 More the fact he didn't play that year and was out on loan during the season He didn't play for us - but technically, at one point or another, he must've been on our books that season.
65RosesFox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 He didn't play for us - but technically, at one point or another, he must've been on our books that season. I think that season he was Filbert the Fox.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 What a shame . . To that lot of deluded fvck wits aswell
Thracian Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Dyer was and still is a much better player than many people give him credit for.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Dyer was and still is a much better player than many people give him credit for. What's his APR though?
milsey Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 All the best Lloyd, two divisional titles, 30-odd goals and a real cult hero. Shame he didn't want to stay but fair enough with a longer deal. Only Kingy left from the League One days now. And Logan!😳
tetly Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Has this been confirmed anywhere yet? If he goes he will do a decent job for Watford, we could have used him in the prem as a impact player.
ScouseFox Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 It depends how you personally define it but for me a legend is a Matt Elliot or a Steve Walsh - a player that scores in Cup finals and play off finals. People bang on about not liking Claridge, but to me he's another legend - he scored two of our most important goals in a play off final and a Cup final. lloyd scored the goal that crowned us as champions, surely that's a step above the winning goal in the play offs? like many my age of about 20/21 or younger we can only really remember the end of the o'neill era, the end of walsh, elliott, lennon etc. got a lot of muzzy and that's why he'll always be the main man for a lot of people my age but after him the next best we've got in terms of club "legends" or "favourites" is dyer or king. both won league one in our darkest times scoring important goals along the way, both survived the immense turnover of players staff and managers and both scored important goals in getting us back up. not a record appearance, record goalscoring one man club legend but certainly a cult hero and a "modern day legend". think of all the moments lloyd and kingy have given us in the past 5 years. so many. not gonna follow him across the globe anderlecht fan style but certainly a player i'll keep an eye out for and crack a smile every time i see him sprinting after a heavy touch and getting there with ease on tele. won't just leave and be forgotten like nearly every other winger we've had in my lifetime.

I understand where you're coming from but is is a bit disingenuous to say Dyer's goal is a step above the play off final goals. Basically it won us match at which 3 points were at stake. It just happened to be the macth where won the title. The play off final winning goals however, were absolutely some of the most important goals scored by our club. Their significance and the occassions on which they occured far outweight one goal in one match worth three points however good the goal was. I would possibly say Claridge's play off goal was the most important in the club's history as that really started the O'Neill era and without it we may not have had the years that followed.

Bettsj2 Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 I agree, but you have to remeber Dyer and King are the closest some of these young 'uns have had to a legend at the club. Very true. I doubt we'll be talking about Lloyd in 20 years. That defines a legend for me.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 I think we will still remember Lloyd in twenty years time and that special goal, simply because of the record breaking season. Who knows what the future will bring but this last season will go down in the clubs history as much as the O'Neil era , and Lloyd was a great part of that special season and his winning goal was of such quality we are not likely to forget that either. I shall miss him if he goes and still think he could do a job for us next season all be it a sub job. If not then bye and thanks for the memories Lloyd and I wish you well for the future.
Burmesefox Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Lloydy, great servant that always gave 100% but not a legend. wish him all the best.
Burmesefox Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 With him leaving i think we need to get some real pace out wide still. Much of our threat last year was due to having pace in all areas of the pitch. we have Mahrez, Knocy, and Albrighton...............................
BrummieFOX Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 we have Mahrez, Knocy, and Albrighton............................... Knocky and Albrighton aren't particularly quick.
Burmesefox Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Knocky and Albrighton aren't particularly quick. Albrighton has always given me the impression of being quick and as for Knocky he buys a yard with slight of foot.
LESTA-JESTA Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Love, Dyer but if he's gonna leave fvck off thanks for everything will be missed.
Guest Posted 5 June 2014 Posted 5 June 2014 Very true. I doubt we'll be talking about Lloyd in 20 years. That defines a legend for me. You don't think we'll be talking about the man who scored the football league title clinching goal, on his weaker foot, for our first promotion in a decade in 20 years time? Righto then.
