Lloyd Dyer to Watford

But that's the level we were playing at though.... What more can people do? Are our fans really this arrogant?

I can bet if Lloyd's record with us was from the Prem people would be calling him a legend.

Well we haven't won any cups have we, we've won league titles. Two different things.

If we're talking about club legends then you have to put things into context. That's the difference between a cult hero and an actual legend, it has nothing to do with arrogance.

Yeh we probably would be calling him a legend if he did his thing in the prem, but he hasn't, so he's not.

Based on that we have had no legends for the last ten years.

Pretty much right, I would say since muzzy and Elliot left, some great players, some bloody awful players, but no legends, the closest we have are King and Lloyd, but until they do something above and beyond, such as turn down offers from bigger clubs, take pay cuts, stay with us after relegation despite offers elsewhere, or score that goal, or put in that performance that actually achieves something. Not legends, just great servants to the club.

A club legend would not leave for an inferior team offering a longer contract, a club legend plays until he can't play no more, or the club choose to sell him or let him go.

Lloyd has the choice now of staying, proving he can cut it the highest level and potentially becoming a legend, or going to fvcking Watford, or somewhere else for the money. I won't criticise him for it, but I will be disappointed.

Like it or not I think that's part of the parcel when you spend so long out of the top flight.

Thinking Dyer isn't a legend is not meant to be used as a pop at the bloke - it's in my opinion, devaluing the meaning of the word 'legend'. A cult hero is absolutely spot on.

A guy who seemed to enjoy playing for us, was a big part of our resurgence and success, as well as standing by us at the lowest point.

A fabulous servant of the club who i loved to watch, and was, on occasion, thrilled by.

IMO He could have had a part to play in the prem... and will be very sad to see him leave, but if it is to be...

Thanks and good luck LLoyd.  :appl:

He joined at our lowest point, rather than stood by us, assuming you mean League one, other than that completely agree with what you are saying. Now if he had been in the team that got relegated and had taken a pay cut, or turned down an offer from a higher placed club and "stood by us" at our lowest point then that could have bumped him up to legendary status

Ahh fair point.. for some reason i thought he came down with us.

Either way, i dont think id class him a club legend, but certainly for me  a very respectable Leicester player.

Our last true legend was a certain Mr Steve Walsh.

He would have died for this club and was proud to wear the shirt every time he walked out.

A great leader and inspired many wins.

He was one fox that never quit.

Bye Lloyd, thanks for the great memories..I will miss you tearing defences a new one...best of luck, you went through it all with us.

Goodbye from me, as well. Thanks for all the great games you had for us, sticking with us through thick and thin, your runs on the left flank, your sixpack, your skinny and fragile-looking legs, your commitment over the years and the goals you scored.

Enjoy Watford - youi'll always be a Leicester City great legend player.

Is he really any better than any other mercenary shithouse?

He'll most likely earn more from his Watford contract than from our next contract for him, ergo he is leaving for more money.

I stand by the fact that our offer to him should be have been a no-brainer for him, and even more so if he has genuinely has/had the Club at heart. It's painfully clear that offers from the Championship would still have been there for him in a year's time.

It's not quite the same though is it.  He is leaving for security rather than more money.  He's just had a brilliant championship season so should be able to command a top championship wage and has locked that in for 3 seasons.  While that may be more than our one year offer that is not comparing like for like.

While I'm surprised he didn't want a crack at the premiership he also knows he has gone from an important squad player to an important first team player.  He will get more game time at Watford.  Perhaps he just wants to play?

What if he suffers a massive injury mid way through next season, with our offer he is fooked.

Excellent servant and his pace will be missed but is replaceable

The security of money for 3 years rather than 1!

tbf i still occasionally wake up in a cold sweat after a nightmare about the article john percy wrote linking him to forest so compared to that this is relatively good news

gutted hes left tbh , i know 11 men make a team but the two seasons we were promoted dyer was a quality player and its no coincidence that when hes on form hes a handful for anyone, i still think he could have done a job for us next season.

a 3 year deal though for a 31 year old is very good and he now has security wage wise for him and his family with a decent pay cheque each week

good luck dyer and thanks
