Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Watford after luke freeman (stevenage)... Who I said we should have looked at... So freeman is a left winger.. Does that mean the Lloyd deal is off I wonder????Let's hope so
RizLCFC Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 “@SkySportsPeteO: Leicester City winger Lloyd Dyer is poised to join Watford on a free transfer. #LCFC #watfordfc http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/â€
Ric Flair Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Cheers for your services Lloyd, last season you were instrumental in our promotion. All the best at them shit arses, I think this is your career winding down personally.
Super_horns Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Watford have just signed Crystal Palace's Bruce Dyer. Maybe the papers got the wrong people. About 10 year out of date with that! Actually think we sold him to them as a ten for about 1.2 million in 1994...
Fox Ulike Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Still think this is a real real shame. Interestingly there was a good article on the Mercury site recently (no really). With lots of quotes from the team that won promotion back in 1994. Iwan Roberts did a similar thing to Lloyd, and chose to drop back down to the Championship rather than stay and fight for a place in the Premiership. This is what he now says about leaving: “I left because I had a disagreement with the chairman, Martin George. Martin said I didn’t deserve a new contract. I should have ignored it – but I was so angry, I went to Wolves. And look what happened to City. It’s my one regret in football.†I just hope Lloyd doesn't come to look back on this in 20 years time and regret that he passed up the chance to be a Premiership player. Something to tell your grandkids about...
Alf Bentley Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Thanks for everything Lloyd. A club legend? I think so. Some might question that, but I don't. 6 years with one club is a long time these days - and 6 years making a significant contribution. Of course, he wasn't brilliant in every match (who is?) and could frustrate at times. But there were crucial goals, assists, work and team performances aplenty. When Lloyd got the ball, you always felt that something might happen - and often it did. I'll miss shouting "Come on, Lloyd!" when I saw he was on the ball. Whether it's because he wants a better chance of 1st team football or because he's calculated that 3 years at Watford will earn him more than 1 year with LCFC in the Premier, I don't blame him. We all have hard decisions to take in life. The next 2-3 years will probably be his last playing at a decent level - and his last chance to earn good money for his family and future life, unless he has some other talent that I'm unaware of. I hope he has a change of heart, but if not.... All the best at Watford, Lloyd, and thanks for a lot of good memories!
theessexfox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Still gutted about this, not only for the nostalgia and the memories he's given us (his face after Deeney's goal, the Bolton goal, the Fulham goal, the goal that won the league to name but a few), but also for the fact I genuinely think he could have had success in the PL. He's hardly fared too badly against PL teams recently - the performance against Fulham, Zabaleta pulling his hamstring running after him , etc. Squaring up to Viera was amazing.
LCCFox96 Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Squaring up to Viera was amazing. Quite possibly my Lloyd Dyer highlight - "Lloydy knock him out" Good luck at Watford if you do leave. A brilliant servant and we will miss him next season.
Babylon Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 With him leaving i think we need to get some real pace out wide still. Much of our threat last year was due to having pace in all areas of the pitch.
artursteppe Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Lloyd had his ( by far ), best season for us last year, and because of that I would not have minded him staying. Before that, yes, fast going forward with little end product, and bone idle when it came to covering back. That is a genuine appraisal of someone who is Championship level and contributed within those parameters. That is obviously also the view of the club, or he would have been offered a longer contract. Thanks Lloyd for what you did do well, and the best of luck with your knew club. Bye.
Bettsj2 Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Not a legend at all. Good player on his day and i'd prefer it if he stayed but not a legend.
Finnaldo Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Not a legend at all. Good player on his day and i'd prefer it if he stayed but not a legend. Why not? Been here for 6 years, never caused a fuss (apart from the substitution incident which wasn't really a problem), refused to leave when offered the chance by Sven and worked hard to regain his place. Finally, and possibly most importantly, he's gave us some moments to remember. Goal versus Real Madrid, the goal versus Watford, and the goal against Bolton. Ticks the criteria for me. By no means one the best players we've had but had the passion and loyalty to deserve the title.

By no means one the best players we've had but had the passion and loyalty to deserve the title. Dyer was a decent player. That's all. I appreciate he's been here six years but we've had worse and we've had better. There's a massive difference between a player, a hero and a legend for me. It depends how you personally define it but for me a legend is a Matt Elliot or a Steve Walsh - a player that scores in Cup finals and play off finals. People bang on about not liking Claridge, but to me he's another legend - he scored two of our most important goals in a play off final and a Cup final.
Captain... Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Not a legend at all. Good player on his day and i'd prefer it if he stayed but not a legend. I agree, but you have to remeber Dyer and King are the closest some of these young 'uns have had to a legend at the club.

You cant not describe him as a club legend, the man has won 2 league titles with us. Not many other Leicester 'legends' have done that, for a club that hasnt done much in a decade he has been a bright note. Thank you Lloyd I will miss you
Rich Fox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 You miserable sod! Legends don't turn down offer to play in premier league with Leicester City to play for Watford
Bert Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 People class Lennon as a legend of the club. Stayed a similar amount of time if not less. Dyer has been part of two title winning squads. Scored the goal that won us the league.
Kitchandro Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 I wouldn't call him a legend, he's not good enough to be a legend. Surely there should be more to legendary status and a club like Leicester City than playing with us for a few years? He's never even played in the top flight for us. Cult hero is fair enough, 'ex City favourite' would be an accurate description that you might see in the Merc one day, but legend is too much. He is a significant player from this era. People class Lennon as a legend of the club. Stayed a similar amount of time if not less. Dyer has been part of two title winning squads. Scored the goal that won us the league. Yeh but Lennon won actual trophies with us and played in the top flight, and with all due respect to Lloyd he was at least twice the player Dyer is.
Corky Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 All the best Lloyd, two divisional titles, 30-odd goals and a real cult hero. Shame he didn't want to stay but fair enough with a longer deal. Only Kingy left from the League One days now.
Harry - LCFC Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Not really been watching for long enough to know what a legend looks like. Only read about them and watched them on Youtube. If Dyer isn't a legend then he's certainly the closest I've seen in my time supporting Leicester.
Lesta Legend Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Definitely a legend in my eyes, regardless of his inconsistencies and lack of real technical ability Lloyds time at the club had gone hand in hand with the club's resurgence from mediocrity to premier league and for that I'll always be thankful for. Definitely wish him the best x Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
