Lloyd Dyer to Watford

Why does everyone love Lloyd Dyer ??? A crappy winger with no ability apart from pace. We're premiership now, the likes of King, Dyer, Nugent and Morgan aren't good enough. We're move onto better things now.

Really? It's depressing that some people can hate a player based on as little as this.

I dont really hate Lloyd. I just feel let down by him.

Less than a month ago he scored the winner to win us the league and stood singing along to leicester til I die in front of our away end. Just makes you want to cry thinking of the good times.

Fvck sake he's not died. He's moved onto another club for the security of money.

If he loved the club that much he would have signed a 1 year deal. Get over it.

Or at the age of 32 he wants to play regular first team football, Lloyd is not stupid his time on the pitch with us would be limited to a few sub appearances.

With Watford he can still play every week, one year without playing regularly at 32 almost means career over, he has been given the opportunity to prolong his career for another 3 years, fair play to him.

In this day and age I think it's great to see a player who wants to play the game, at 32 he isn't going to improve an awful lot in fact he is more than likely going to go backwards, he is already bhind a young winger who is only going to get better.

Good luck Lloyd and thanks for the memories.

Well I'm shocked...

Of all of the players we knew were out of contract, Lloyd was the one I was certain would stay. After all the seasons of hard work with nothing at the end I thought he'd give anything to reap the rewards of this season and finally get his shot at the Prem.

It might have only been a 1 year contract we offered but it was his chance to put a finishing touch on his career and put a reason to all of his years of loyalty with us. Even if the season wasn't going how he wanted there's always the January transfer window, emergency loans and even at the end of the season I couldn't see him being without offers from Championship level teams.

From the way Lloyd plays I see him as a massive confidence player. Start of this season he was electric, simply unstoppable at times. He noticeably gave prem opposition a real tough time in the cup games as well. As the season wore on and the Mahrez signing followed a weaker spell for Lloyd, to me it seemed that his confidence took a real plummet and the pace and direct running were barely seen. Who knows, if he'd had a better end to the season he might have gotten a 2 year deal to stay. I'm not a psychologist obviously but possibly the lack of confidence came home with him and it became a glass half empty situation.. "I might not be able to step up a level, I might be stuck on the bench, I might not get another contract etc". Again I just wonder if his decision would have been different had he finished the season playing well and with more confidence at the prospect of taking on the big boys.

Frankly I'm gutted that he appears to have taken the safe option and the comfort zone of the Championship over a chance in the top flight. Personally I think he could have done a job if he was utilised as an impact player but if he hasn't got the balls and the stomach for the tough season we're gonna have, then sadly we're better off without him. It's more a shame for him than us!

From Lloyds perspective loyalty works both ways, and I genuinely think he would have stayed of we offered him a 2 year stint.

Good luck, and thanks for the memories.

Just heard the news and was like this dude from 15-20 seconds. Very sad.

I'll never forget the forward roll when he scored in front of us at Cheltenham. What a guy.

As much as I would love him to stay he is replaceable, we can get better options now we are premier league.

Obviously it depends on any replacement we sign but as it stands his loss would equate to a weakening of our squad and the absence of a guy who really does have the pace and ability to find a way past any defence - as he's demonstrated on several occasions.

I've always been a believer in genuine wingers - guys who relish counter-attacking and who stretch defences, making space between between people for the likes of Vardy to exploit.

Presumably Pearson has his answers in hand, but without such players our job will be significantly harder. Even good defenders find it hard to contain raw pace - and it makes them uncomfortable which in turn leads to mistakes. Dyer has always been seriously under-rated by a proportion of our fans but has actually made a significant contribution to our success.

Of course he's replaceable but that's the point - what he offers really does have to be replaced. No pace equals no hope in the Premiership for teams like Leicester who, presumably won't be able to assemble a whole team of constructive ball retainers all at once.

Agree completely. All that kissing the badge and 'I want to finish my career at Leicester' was just bullshit. Hissy fit when he got subbed, looked shit (Bolton goal aside) since Mahrez came in, Lloyd can just fvck right off.

Is it wrong of a footballer for being realistic and wanting to play as much as they can for as long as they can? He's worked his bollocks off for Leicester ever since he joined. Anyone that's played over 250 games for our club deserves more than being told to "fvck right off" when they leave. Have some respect.

He had a bad injury towards the end of this season and his speed didn't seem the same.  He is all about speed.  I hope he does well and that I am wrong.  Also, he would want to play and the opportunities may have been limited.  He has made no secret of wanting a longer contract or out which has given time to replace him in the squad. Great servant with a Pearson type attitude.  I thought he was the player of the season in the 1st half of the season.

Everyone ask yourselves this question. If Lloyd Dyer had been good enough for the premiership a premiership team would have come knocking years ago. Dyer, run Lloyd run cos that's all he can do. He can't cross for toffee. Scores a wonder goal against Bolton, but too little to often.

He has chosen to leave us he could have had a season to play in the premiership with us but he has turned it down. God, yes, he is replaceable move on people he has gone.

Absolutely spot on. Our success this season (as I've said many times) has been based on pace. For example, we haven't looked nearly as dangerous going forward without Vardy in the side. Let's hope Pearson replaces Dyer with another quick winger.

I never rated Lloyd as anything other than a decent Championship player. I saw many of his goals live. Man City and udders away spring to mind immediately. I loved it when he refused to go when out of favour under Sven, saying that we were his club. I love the man, he is a Foxes legend but the offers elsewhere may just be too practical. I would liked to have seen him just once in the EPL but it looks like it's not to be. Good luck and thank you Lloyd.

Could say that about any player who hasn't had the opportunity to play in the Prem. Can guarantee Dyer has almost double figures worth of assists this season as well as his 9 goals, how is that not good enough for a winger? Even looking up at the premier league, alot of pacey wingers are inconsistant and have very little end product. i.e Lennon, Walcott etc.

Absolute travesty that he has not got a chance to give it a go in the Prem despite doing alot of the hard work to get us there.

Think we got everything we could out of Lloyd.

It's a shame he won't play in the prem but I think we're going to need to break some eggs to make an omelette.

We're easily capable of bringing in someone with more quality so not too bad for us.

However thanks for the memories Lloyd.

And people are STILL saying that pace is his only attribute. lol

I don't know what people expected from a player who joined us at our lowest depths from MK ******, but I'd say that 250+ games, almost 40 goals is a pretty good indication that said player has been a loyal servant.

Clearly the guy wants a) longer term security and, b) an opportunity to play regular football and not sit on the bench or in the stand. Not sure how any City fan can blame him for that when they are so quick to slag players like Gallagher and SSL for sitting around and picking up top dollar.

Is that really what you would have preferred? Because I'm sure as hell like the rest of you that he wouldn't be first choice next season.

The fact is, Lloyd has been nothing but professional, honest and loyal throughout his 6 years here. He could have jumped ship a few years ago under Sven but has stayed and played a huge part in getting us to the Premier League. As far as I am concerned he has earned the right to make that decision for his family's long-term benefit.

Good luck Lloyd, a wise decision in my opinion. He'd have been an impact sub at best with limited game time which he'd need to maintain fitness and match sharpness. He knows that'd hurt a bit too much as he wants to start and this is a better option for his family and security in terms of his career.

Been a great servant to LCFC - maybe peaked a little to late ironically. Shame for him not to play in the Prem but he won't get offered this sort of a deal in a years time with 10 appearances off the bench.

Good luck to him.

If he is leaving for game time then fair enough, if it's for money then I'm slightly disappointed. It really would have been icing on the cake for him to pull on a Leicester shirt in the Prem but I respect any decision he feels he needs to make. Always a legend to me.
