Happy Fox Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 I don't know what people want exactly it is a stop gap signing till when Moore will be leading the line with someone else the season after we consolidate our status in the prem fingers crossed. He has played at the highest level and you need that experience, it isn't as if we are signing an injury prone player was BHAFC's player of the season (not bad), yes we could be aiming for better but we don't know what our targets are we ay be spending all our transfer kitty on a striker and a central midfielder who knows?
Babylon Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 He's also prone to the odd injury here and there. 47 appearances in all competitions last season isn't bad going for an injury prone has been!!
MC Prussian Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 47 appearances in all competitions last season isn't bad going for an injury prone has been!! I know - wonder what Brighton's medical team did there! Did they use a special tincture or something?
KFS Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 So we'll have the following 'experienced' players: Kev Phillips (staff) Matt Upson Gary Taylor Fletcher Wasyl Konchesky Hammond That covers all major playing segments with experience. Thoughts?
BigMicky Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 One game upson could do a job for us is against west ham, he is very good in the air. Also think he would be handy against stoke and crouch. Was/Wes/Moore would struggle against huge forwards.
kingcarr21 Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 not quite sure how people can be disappointed with this signing. would be a great addition to the squad with vast experience and after a fantastic season with brighton. Pace has never been his game and not only Moore but Morgan would benefit from his experience of the premier league.

lgfualol Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Solid But I would prefer someone else. Because I'm ageist.
StanSP Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 I'm not so sure all of them will make the 25 cut, Phillips 100% won't. I don't see why the other 5 wouldn't.
lgfualol Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Wikipedia already have him down as a Leicester player Confirmed. Wikipedia says so.
KFS Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Phillips 100% won't. I don't see why the other 5 wouldn't.In terms of having them in and around the dressing room, I think that's pretty solid.
Babylon Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Phillips 100% won't. I don't see why the other 5 wouldn't. Because we could have better options by the time it comes to announcing the squad. GTF had to be given a contract because of the games he played, out of all of them I would have his spot was most at risk for being replaced.
Rocky Dennis Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Just read it again but cant see what other point you're making with that statement that would relate to Upson. Lay it out. Some'' people in here think potential Upson signing has merit based on his "pedigree" and stats for last season. Keown had a considerably higher pedigree when we signed him and was a disastrous player for us Therefore, 'pedigree' doesn't necessarily count for anything. Perhaps you disagree, that's fine but I think some people DO agree. Sorry to confuse you Sir
bovril Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Spot on post do not want Upson well past his best. Please sign Miquel, young and promising rather than this has bean. When it comes to transfer news, you've always got your finger on the pulse.
Ric Flair Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 One of the best defenders in the air in the English game, something we've been truly appalling at dealing with from set pieces.
sphericalfox Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Given the rigour of the Premiership, people are genuinely concerned we are linked with lots of defenders, specifically CB? Seriously? Was is great, but he's an elbow away from a suspension nearly every game, and at some point it is likely one of CBs will be injured for a short or medium period during the season for whatever reason. We need experience and guile to be able to step into that space. I don't worry that Upson is being signed up to be a first teamer, though he may well be up for the fight for the position, but he's a quality back-up nonetheless. I have no problem with this if announced, I just think people are expecting first team signings everytime, when Pearson said he was happy with the squad, and wouldn't be making any overhaul. That suggests a few first teamers brought in, but the rest quality back-ups or quality up-and-coming additions.
davieG Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 Keown joined a club in dissaray where players were able to do what they liked, it's always a risk signing older players but there's plenty of examples where it has been successful. Whether an Upson signing will be we don't know but we do know that this management team have been able to get the best out of them during both their peroods in charge. We also have an excellent support team that have kept injuries to a minimum and got full seasons out of nearly all the players
