foxfanazer Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Pearson said most people wouldn't have heard of his transfer targets, but sure Matthew Upson. Would add absolutely nothing and would be much better off staying in the Championship We need far better and younger players
hackneyfox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 How many CBs do we need Morgan, Was, Moore & Upson? I'd want 3 of those as cover with someone with pace and premier experience being signed and played regularly.
Corky Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Not at his age, a few years ago maybe. Would definitely like Marc Albrighton here.
Stevosevic Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 We'll need five i think. Morgan, Was and Moore only CBs on the books. Chuck 100k a week at Lescott and Barry. Job done.

LCCFox96 Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 We can do better. This. Upson's lack of pace would concern me in the premiership and I think his age will catch up with him in the top flight. He is a decent defender though. I'd rather have Was though.
LanguedocFox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 I remember him in the 2010 World Cup and the nightmare he had against Germany. Scored for England, but the rest of the match was a disaster. That was four years ago, and I doubt that his vision, pace and passing ability have improved in that time. Thanks, but no thanks.
westernpark Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 He was the last Englishman to score at a world cup.
Devonfox1884 Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 He was the last Englishman to score at a world cup. No, that's Frank Lampard...
Silverdaz Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Be good as back up then we just need another centre back and be able to afford to let Moore go on loan somewhere as I dont think he will play much next season
Father Ted Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Are people really this negative about this? I've been impressed with him whenever I've seen him play this season and always seems a commanding, strong leader too. Is also a left sided CB iirc and would certainly do a job for us in the Premiership. A genuine threat from set pieces too. On a one year contract I don't think we could go wrong.
Guest MattP Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Good player and just been voted player of the year. Some of the people slagging this off are the same ones who were purring over Matt Mills when we paid a fortune for him. Think he'd be a excellent addition.

Weird isn't it A left footed CB which we need, player of the year in a team which had an even better defence than ours, experienced... so could aid us in ways that Hammond, GTF & Philip's have? Everyone's got a sniff of an injury prone, loose cannon like Micah Richards on about £100k/week and we're suddenly too good for anyone else I'd think it was a good bit of business while we make the step up
mozartfox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Might as well de-mothball Jamie Carragher, he is slow and past it, with plenty of shirt tugging experience in the Premier League. May be close this thread now, as it is only mindless speculation at best.
RowlattsFox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 The only player we have been linked with so far where I have thought 'no way' Decent player but not what we should be looking at. I would take someone with his experience in centre midfield though.
Webbo Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Pearson likes to bring in a bit of experience and leadership into the squad. This wouldn't surprise me.
Dan Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 I'll always trust Pearson and if it happens then fair play, I'm entirely behind Upson, but I think we're already going to be struggling a bit at the back when it comes to pace and Upson won't help solve that.
LeicesterBran Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 He's decent but, isn't getting any younger and lacks speed. We need a younger centre back like Andre Wisdom or Kenneth Omeruo both are decent CBs with backs of potential.
MPH Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Our problem is that very few of our team have premier league experience.
NeilLCFC Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Just checked. He is younger. Not knowing which of you is older was really bugging me. Thanks for checking.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Would much prefer Michael Turner at Naaaarwich.
