Tielemans63 Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 ..along with Marc Albrighton according to the Mirror. A bit underwhelming but a decent centre half. Would think we can do better though.
lovelcfc Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Should be aiming for higher than this, not a premier league defender anymore
NewquayFox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Reminds me of the last time we went up and we signed Howie, he got hauled off after the pre match warm up after he was found to be stinking of booze and never played for us again, not worth the gamble on this pair.....
teblin Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Filling the squad with cheaper players? Then spending on 2 or 3 bigger signings?
teblin Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Leicester City are hoping to make Villa midfielder Marc Albrighton one of their summer additions, along with Brighton defender Matthew Upson. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/2/9317114/football-paper-talk
Happy Fox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 He is a useful defender played at the highest level, has prem experience, won the premier league and FA Cup we could do better yes, but at the same time a one year contract would be invaluable in our push to secure our prem status it is a win win for me.
mozartfox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Just a thought, some pace at CB might be useful in the Premier League.
cc_star Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Experienced CB where we need to improve and part of one of the best defences in the Championship's? Definitely no. We don't want that sort of risk. Personally think Wasyl is a risk, the guy seems to commit a red card offence every game & even commit a penalty that just hasn't been picked up on. Sure, this enderes him to us, as everyone loves a bit of 'passion' but he's definitely a risk in the Prem IMO.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Only if he is used as emergency back up and we get him on a one year contract and on the cheap, otherwise don't bother.
Strokes Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Not really inspired but he hasnt ever really relied on pace or mobility. Could provide back up but i think we can do better.
dbtcity Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Player of the year for a half decent Brighton team that hardly conceded any goals, worth a punt imo
ibbosuk Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Did you see his challenge for the penalty he gave away Brighton V Derby in the play off's semi final ???absolute carthorse of a challenge. I don't think he is the type we need in the Premiership.
dobbylcfc Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 ..along with Marc Albrighton according to the Mirror. A bit underwhelming but a decent centre half. Would think we can do better though. Would take Albrighton but definitely not upson.
WhispyWizard Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 We have Wasyl for experience, Upson is unlikely to offer anything more.
Robin JD Popley Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Strange link again this, but, I would have taken him a couple of seasons ago in a heartbeat. The thing that this reminds me of (if true) is the curveball that signing Wes created - may work out if a short term deal is the offer. However, my only fear as others have stated, is the lack of quick defenders we have at present in our team. Although they are of a different ilk, I have always been concerned how easily our defence has been ran rings around by Premier strikers - we made Hugo Rodallega look good, so, I hope there is another Liam Moore in the pipeline too (not to replace but compete).
Babylon Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Been part of one of the best championship defences for the last couple of years, premier league experience... but 35, which I think might be pushing it a bit.
