He joined BHA saying he felt wanted, unlike another club he'd spoken to

He came down to Villa for a medical and to agree personal terms, however Doug Ellis decided last minute to block the deal. Probably the board decided not to pay him the extra 30 quid a week he wanted. In the end we signed Roger Davies from Bruges instead and the rest is history which is best forgotten.
