Hodgson Out?

We need stability, a direction and at the moment we don't have either... we have potentially some class players coming through and I feel hodgson can get the most out of them. Sacking him isn't going to achieve anything

Blah di blah di blah

lol

Sorry mate, he's got one point out of this lot. Would you have expected that/taken that at the start of the tournament?

I felt at times we were unfortunate, things could have been different if we had taken our chances and didn't slip up at the back. Hodgson unfortunately can't stop players from missing chances and he can't be responsible for a lapse of concentration at the back.

I felt we played the right way, and had enough chances to have done a lot better. This group of players have only come around in the past few months, it takes longer than that to get the best out of them and know what works best. We came into this tournament not knowing our best team, we have left with positives and a better understanding of what works and what doesn't.

It is easy for people to say this could have been better, he could have played this player etc... once we are out. Hodgson knows what he is doing and has a far better understanding of the team now.

I did expect it, it was always going to happen. The squad is shockingly thin on talent and Roy didn't have a defence to work with.

I can't see things improving much, change or no change.

Thats fair enough. If you genuinely thought we'd get one point then I cant argue with you. If true, however, it shows what a mess we are in.

I admire your honesty though.

Personally, I thought we'd just about sneak through, but wasnt at all sure.

What??

Hodgson has had two years to know what works and what doesn't?

lol

Are you trolling?

2 years? so Barkley, sterling, Sturridge, shaw, Baines even.... need I go on? where all available, the majority of this team has only just come together... some have retired during that time as well. At the Euros, he had to pick up the pieces and try his best with an aging squad.. Basically we are in a transitional period, and no one really knew what team to put out...

I would have given England three points at the start of the tournament.

So, slightly underperformed.

But... is that all down to Hodgson only? Sometimes, you're on a one-man witch hunt against everything Hodgson that you cannot see clearly anymore.

The opposition plays a part in the equation, so does the surroundings, the temperate, the humidity, the players' day form, the audience, the referee... Just to name a few.

England may have undersold themselves at this tournament, yet Hodgson is only part of the problem. At the most.

To be fair, Hodgson has made some bad mistakes in this tournament - I just take issue with the idea that he's a negative manager.

It's unsubstantiated nonsense.

I think they should just pick players from smaller teams and championship, at least 98% of those players would try.

Be good to see Beckford and Danns in England shirts.

That worked well for all the other World Cup teams so far.

Why be sarcastic? He makes a good point.

Look at Ings. Couldn't be any worse than Sturridge.

Easy to say he made mistakes afterwards, no one really knew what team to play or how the younger players would perform on the biggest stage... it didn't work out for him or England, I felt we had enough chances in every game to have done a lot better, that is a big positive and something I couldn't have said in the past

Hodgson isn't perfect but to sack him would be ludicrous. This whole tournament has been a transition tournament for us. It doesn't surprise me at all that Col is the ringleader of a witch hunt against another manager.

I agree entirely but it is clear that he did make mistakes, hindsight or not.

I'm not claiming to know any better, but he didn't quite get the best out of these players.

Completely agree with this. All of the above factors contributed and three points is about on the money.

I DO also feel that Roy has made many errors during the campaign. And, like any manager, should be scrutinised for some of the decisions he made. Its not enough, again, to start talking about how we are now going to bring the youth through etc etc etc and looking forward to the next one.

This campaign has been poor and deserves discussion in its own right.

Good post though MC. And I generally agree with you.

Personally and its no excuse I guess, I thought the likes of Stevie G looked knackered. God knows why he stayed on in the second half against Uruguay. The flick on header of a player too tired (IMO) to jump properly gave Suarez the chance he needed.

However, tis done and we see what happens from now.

Playing and scoring against the best sides in this country, as Sturridge has done, is a bit different to scoring v Barnsley and Yeovil.

Throwing Championship players in is not a good idea and will not improve England one bit.

Our worst ever World Cup. Bottom of the group. 0 wins.

Hodgson out.

Redknapp in.

Give us your view on something. Something worth reading and not just a lot of hot air and accusations. We've had this conversation before... you don't phase me.

Indeed, Sturridge scored 21 league goals and also got 7 assists... He is a ten times better player than Ings

We'll wait 'till he's 30 then like Lambert, then give him the chance.

I bet some of these Countries have second tier players playing.

You're refreshingly passionate about our World Cup demise buddy. Good to see. And I agree.

Not saying he isn't better, just saying we should look at the second tier more. Some players in that league are decent enough, Lallana for example, but no we have to wait 'till he gets into the Premier League first. I bet Ings would have scored today, his first touch would have been ten times better.

I'm not saying Ings is better. Just get that point across because someone will no doubt take it out of context.
