Luis Suarez Bites Chiellini

FIFA have handed a decent ban and enforced it in the wrong way in my opinion. The 9 international game ban covers him for being out of the World Cup which was expected. So to ban him for 4 months starting immediately is stupidity. His 4 month ban should be from the start of his domestic season, it is not causing any harm to him when he's got a month and a half before the season starts and he's already banned from the World Cup anyway.

Decent ban, enforced in the wrong way as they have in effect, double banned him.

Well I dont know how theyve done it but FIFA have managed to pîss off Uruaguy, liverpool and neutral fans. You would have though at least one of them would benefit from whatever decision was given but nope FIFA has even fvcked that up. What a joke of a federation

Its a strange one, I think it's got a lot to do with culture and how he was brought up. I can't remember where I heard/read or saw it, but, places like Uruguay/Brazil, where there is a lot of poor people. The way the kids are brought up, is literally to win, at any costs. Winning could improve their life, they might be able to get a meal, move from the slums.

In England, the kids go and play down the park, finish, go home to their nice house for a roast dinner. It's a massively different culture. Anyone can say, but it's only football, but to kids that have travelled miles from the slums, to play football, with the hope at winning would see their whole life change.

With Suraez, he does go down with no persuasion, he does 'fake' injuries after challenges, He is just trying to win at any cost. That's what he was brought up to do - you can't teach old dogs new tricks.

I don't condole biting, its as disgusting as spiting, but, everyone in England has one view. He needs to be banned for life blah blah - its not right what he's done and he will be dealt with. But I think people need to look at how differently Sureaz would have been raised and it could be a small reason to why he reacts the way he does/has.

I'm sorry to be rude but this is one of the stupidest posts I've read on here in ages.

4 month Ban from all footballing activity.. so he's going turn out for coventry city.

Would've preferred longer, but at least it's a proper punishment. Well done FIFA for a change.

Was just coming to post pretty much the same thing. Liverpool have indulged him in these activities, as you say they've made their bed. They'll only launch an appeal because he so good. If this had been Glenn Johnson I doubt they'd have given a ****. In fact they'd have sold or sacked him after the first incident. I'm sure they'll feel hard done by, but this is what you get when you stand by someone who's a total ****, even though they might be really good at their job.

Spot on post.

Punishment is fair, now it will be interesting to see how long they have to do it for when he bites someone for the 4th time.

8 match ban for Evra.

3 match ban for sticking his finger up to Fulham fans.

10 game ban for biting Ivanovic.

13 game ban for biting Chiellini.

34 games he will have been suspended for, for Liverpool and he has never had a red card. Incredible.

Pretty sure he can't take part in training at Liverpool's training ground as it comes under organised footballing activity. It seems somebody asked them at the Press Conference.

Weird ban. How many times do you see players banned for a period of time, rather than number of games? And def not both simultaneously. I haven't checked but I can't remember any.

Sounds like fifa are trying to please everyone but, like someone else said, will probably end up pissing everyone off.

Will Liverpool fans still support him?

You can't enforce a time ban with a delay. lol

If they wanted to do that they should of just given him six months (which is what I think it should have been anyway)

four months is acceptable to me though I suppose.

He's just an absolute **** isn't he? Looking back a lot of people in hindsight will be glad Man City won the league rather than see that lift the trophy.

That said, if they can pick up Alexis and a huge wad, Liverpool will have actually done well out of this in the end.

Only because what he's done hasn't been seen/heard by the officials lol

Well if that's true he'll be dead fit when he gets back lol

The full statement

Luis Suarez suspended for nine matches and banned for four months from any football-related activity

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has reached a decision in the case related to Luis Suarez of Uruguay following an incident that occurred during the FIFA World Cup match between Italy and Uruguay played on 24 June 2014.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided that:

The player Luis Suarez is to be suspended for nine (9) official matches. The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming FIFA World Cup fixture between Colombia and Uruguay on 28 June 2014. The player Luis Suarez is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of four (4) months in accordance with art. 22 of the FDC.

A stadium ban is pronounced against the player Luis Suarez in accordance with art. 21 of the FDC as follows: the player Luis Suarez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of the ban (point 3). The player Luis Suarez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium in which the representative team of Uruguay is playing while he has to serve the nine-match suspension (point 2).

The player Luis Suarez is ordered to pay a fine in the amount of CHF 100,000.

The decision was notified to the player and the Uruguayan FA today.

Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field. The Disciplinary Committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suarez's guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated, said Claudio Sulser, chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
