Jace Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 When did everyone turn on Martin O Neill? Is he the new Foxestalk scapegoat?
Jace Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 No one is 'turning on MON' whatsoever. Everyone knows that MON has the personality of a complete ****. Fans have seen it, his ex players have seen it and as a result of his features on ITV during this world cup the neutrals have seen it. Doesn't sound too positive mate
South fox Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 A bit direscetful really and a uncalled for. I love MON for what he did for us, but I've heard from people who have met him that he's not a very nice man. My friend and his dad who are villa fans absolutely hate him for what he said to them & other villa fans at a Q&A night. I met mon, I wrote a letter to the club as every time I went to leicester which is a 400mile round trip with my dad our car would brake down and we were never really well of either,I got a phone call from mon himself I spoke to him for 30mins on the phone, I was bout 12/13 yrs old at the time he invited me and all my family up to a game against Everton when at filbert street,we had a tour of the ground met the players in the dressing room he asked my mum n dad if they had brought a camera n we hadn't so he got the club photographer to take pics,we got 5 tickets in the new carling stand,he was a really nice n polite, best day ever,
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 I'm pretty sure Van Gaal already stated at the beginning of the tournament in an interview that he modelled his Dutch side on the Leicester City side of 90's early 2000 under MON. It's absolutely no secret by Van Gaal by saying "I'm a great admirer of the Leicester City team from that period" but credit LCFC where credit is due Van. He should have mentioned Leicester after Quarter final game. I was actually questioning some of ITV, who seem to love everything he does. That's all. No need for the sarcastic comment which wasn't funny at all.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 O'Neill a ****? My dad met him after the 1-0 win at Old Trafford and all MON said was "thank you for coming". I don't know if his demeanour has changed as he's got older, mind.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 Best goolkeper ever! Bugger me - check 57secs and tell me that's not NP...
Oxfordfox83 Posted 10 July 2014 Posted 10 July 2014 There's some bloody weird opinions on here. A few facts for the young, the very old, and the miserable: 1. Kalac was helmet for us. I can remember how exciting it was to hear we'd signed some giant superkeeper, and how gutting it was to find he was utterly useless. 2. MON was the best manager we've had in my time by miles-he had vision and ambition and the drive and talent to back it up. Gillies may have been better, but MON's undoubtedly our best in nearly 50 years since. 3. I've also met him and the guy was sensational. He was Celtic manager at the time and gave a talk in Oxford, my shirt was the wrong end of a 5aside game but he still signed it, wrote a Christmas card for my uncle, chatted at length and clearly still took a real interest in the club. He seemed genuinely saddened by our decline, but spoke optimistically and knowledgeably of our future. It seems bizarre to me that honesty about UEFA cups in Russia not being a priority and a different style of punditry has made some people doubt the fella. He was probably a bastard to work for at times-as said above, most of the best are. I bet Sven and Taylor were as nice as pie. It kicked off here when Lineker didn't mention the Palace penalty subbing, and yet MON is getting abuse for pointing out he was first, when he's been on record many times as saying that was the only contribution Kalac ever made...
Bayfox Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 MON mardy bastard (according to ft) success. Sven nice as pie, always says the right thing could charm the pants of most men as well as ulrika. Ummmmm
Jace Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 I'm just waiting for someone to say Peter Taylor wasn't given enough time then I would have heard it all on here.
Soar Fox Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Peter Taylor wasn't given enough time Agree with that. Sousa should have been given some more time aswell.
Dickov22 Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 MON has been my favourite pundit during the World Cup. Might even convince me to choose ITV over the beeb for the final.
Unabomber Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 MON has been my favourite pundit during the World Cup. Might even convince me to choose ITV over the beeb for the final. Steady.
Matt Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Can't wait to see how the viewing figues compare between the BBC v ITV for the final! Hopefully the BBC will batter them and it will speak volumes to ITV, Give up, you cannot do football/sport coverage, infact they can't do anything decent.
Jace Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 For me its a no contest BBC without question I cannot stand that ****ing annoying man singing BRAZILLLLLLLLLL on all the adverts most annoying thing about this World Cup
Jace Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Kicking off again with MON, personally I completely agree with him. A loss on penalties means you lose the match, those of us who support England certainly didn't consider ourselves unbeaten in 2004, 2006 and 2012

A loss on penalties means you lose the match, those of us who support England certainly didn't consider ourselves unbeaten in 2004, 2006 and 2012 And in 98, 96 & 90! Although we did beat Spain in 96.
1972 Fox Posted 12 July 2014 Posted 12 July 2014 Only on a Leicester City forum could i read so many negative comments about the clubs greatest ever manager This.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Fell out with him once but time healed and never had a problem afterwards. Yes he can be very intense but also can be very, very entertaining. Bit of a complex character. Gave us some great years and memories. His sidekick Robbo could be an utter arse though, particularly when he was on the sauce. One night in Branigans in 1997 stands out but that's another story
fazzyfox Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 We should be proud that our fine history is represented so predominantly on TV, Lineker on BBC1, O'Neill on ITV, Savage popping up everywhere as rent-a-gobby clown, Claridge on anything Championship related (not that I'll be watching that Mickey Mouse level again) and in every production of Oliver Twist our very own Legend Dennis Wise is there nicking wallets and singing in exaggerated cockney style. Coming soon Coatsworths coaching hour, factual determination panel show "Izzet or isn't it", fishing with Guppy, Wine tasting with St Ledger and music show "Come on let's Danns".
