You don't get bent over Kitchboxer, your more than capable of bending yourself over with some of the stupid shit you come out with.

lol k.

You should go mouth off to those lads from Bentley's Roof again, it'll make you feel better.

Probably so but I'm moving for what could prove to be 10 Million pounds I'm expecting a pretty hefty signing on fee myself. Pointless argument anyway as you'll never know for sure. Campbell, Bojan, Quagerilla among others.

Not really, for one they're two completely separate discussions.

I've tried to drag the conversation back on to Deeney several times, but I am not the only one not letting the argument go, and it's quite hard to not go off on tangents when everyone's stock response to you not wanting him is "Well who else is there"

Surely though if your not willing to factor in signing on fees because I'll "never know for sure" than that could be used in the argument as to why we didn't go for him! For all you know we could have enquired about him and this could have come back with an astronomical figure. Transfers aren't built on just a transfer fee so that negates if a player is worth buying simply because he's initially cheaper. You have to factor in the "Total" cost of what that player would cost you for the full term of his contract and what potential return or gains will you get for him.

Campbell - Were in for him but wanted more wages, would cause unrest in the camp if they exceeded by a big margin.

Bojan - Undisclosed fee, usually means they don't wish to let other people know how much they've paid... very likely they could have paid a ridiculous amount for him (no real way of knowing). Would however happily take Bojan any day of the week.

Quagliarella - Don't know enough about him tbh, returned to Torino where he started his career and they did get him for £3.5m.. could be an argument on wages again, plus being 31.

To clear this up I was just naming players going for less than 8 million, Andy Kings Bollocks decided to pick it up and run with one of them as he butted into a conversation halfway through. I've said plenty of times I'm making the point we could of got better not sign Ba specifically, he obviously wouldn't come here he's got a shot at winning something and playing Champions League football. Even though according to our resident Ricky Gervais, Leo Ulloa is a better player.

For some reason I'm in tears, sitting at my desk laughing quietly. How bizarre.

I'm not arguing over if's and coulds of signing on fee's neither of us know anything about.

I get the unrest arguement, I just don't agree with the theory though most teams have a handful of players on more than the rest

Bojans reported three million

There's no way Torino are paying more the 30k I wouldn't have thought  a week not that much money in Italy these days.

You can tell he's really wound up now.

Yes, I'm seething Jean Claude.

In regards to that Campbell argument it could have been we were offering him a decent amount... we WERE in for him. Just that Palace could have been adding more to their offer to beat us.

Bojans fee was undisclosed, they can report 3m all they want but nothings published... Roma paid 12m for him a couple of years ago, you think they would be willing to lose 9m on a player whose still only 23 and previously been likened to Messi? Yes he hasn't lived up to his hype but he is still a very good player.

Probably not paying that, but he did start his career and he could have got sentimental and wanted a return to the club that made him... I don't know, could be they are paying more than 30k. Who can tell.

Mark Hughes got a massive bargain there Some of the best and well priced players have slipped through the net. IF, Pearson wants more additions, let's hope he doesn't leave it to deadline day.

QPR are close to agreeing a fee with Ajax for Kolbeinn Sigthorsson. Surely they won't be signing Sigthorsson and Deeney now Remy is staying?

Ba has had massive dips in form every season in English football and you'd lose him to the ACON. On his day, he is a better player than Ulloa an Deeney but those days are few and far between so you can make the finances add up anyway you want to suit your argument (both Babs and Pabs are guilty of this) but at the end if it all, signing Ba would not give you value for money.

Whilst Ulloa and Deeney may be of an inferior quality, their work rate alone makes them more valuable to us as this is one of our main strengths as a team.

Ba is the kind of signing we should be making after spending a couple of years establishing ourselves in the Prem.

As for the fee for Ulloa, personally, I dont think its that high and we're only seeing it as high because we have never spent that much before on one player so you'd hope for your record buy to be someone of a higher profile. Its over ten years since we paid £5m for Akinbiyi (who at the time was a championship striker who'd just scored 16) so given the time passed, £8m is probably about right. He looks to have the attributes we've lacked over the years so in my view justifies his fee. I think paying the same for Deeney when he's a similar type of player seems odd, but we do need strength in depth so this would be a statement that we're not pissing about.

On another note, i've seen a few comments on here saying they cant understand why we havent looked further afield. Does our transfer activity over the last 2 years not show that we do exactly that?

Knocky, Mahrez, Was - bargain european signings

Hammond, Upson, Phillips - Experienced pros

Vardy - Hidden gem from the lower leagues

Drinky, James, Hamer - Highly rated youngsters

It seems obvious that our network does looks far and wide but they are just very fussy with the type of player (both talent and temperement) that they want to bring in.

Yeah non of that looks like Evidence to me, more conjecture.I was under the impression signing on fee's were always quite closely tied in with the transfer price myself. But then as they're hardly ever reported it's hard to tell.

I've named about 7 strikers that are cheaper than Ulloa, and despite all this arguing about Demba bleeding Ba who was one of them (who I still maintain offers bet value by virtue of actually potentially being good enough in my eyes) I'm yet to see anyone argue we couldn't of got better for less which is my main point.

but mentioning players that are cheaper than Ulloa and Deeney, that we actually have no chance of signing is just stupid! If there were strikers out there that were available to us for under £8m and had a proven prem record, I'm sure Nige would have signed them. Players that don't fall into our wage structure, team morale, system etc are just pointless mentioning. Nige did say weve missed out on some transfer targets so for all we know he may have tried signing other strikers but got knocked back. Signing a proven prem striker for under £8m, that fits in our wage budget is impossible! Signing a foreign player that has never played in the prem is as big a risk as signing Ulloa/ Deeney. And just using Ba as an example again, if Ba was here on £60k per week and scored 14 goals and Deeney and Ulloa were here on £60k per week combined and scored 7 each then surely we end up the same. Except the squad morale isn't affected by having a player on double everyone else.

And finally, I do get your point that you think our wage structure isn't right and we should increase it but in my opinion, a wage structure of £30-40k per week in season 1 is right, then if we stay up we go with £40-50k in season 2 and move forward from there. We can't just spend loads of money and expect success (ask Sven, or Mark Hughes), we have to build gradually each season we stay up (if we stay up). We need to be prepared for the worst (relegation) and having a stable wage budget in place is the way to do this.

arry likes to sign as many players as possible

All I can judge from reading page after page, is that it's definitely some of you boys' time of the month.

What is someone actually reading all this crap?? lol

Would he really want Sigthorsson, Remy, Deeney, Austin and Zamora though?

why be on a forum, that is a place for people to discuss each others views and opinions, if you don't actually want to read other peoples views and opinions?

yes. And probably a few more for good measure. Hes prob heard about Southampton being linked with Vardy so he'll do an interview and say 'I dont like talking about other teams players but I'd love to sign Vardy'

I suppose the same thing could be said about Pearson wanting Ulloa, Deeney, Vardy, Nugent, Wood and Taylor-Fletcher
