Troy Deeney

You can measure it like that if you want, Prem's a different division, seen plenty of teams go up in the play offs and survive comfortable with few additions and League winners come crashing down having spent millions. So if it's a real measurement its a completely inaccurate one making it useless.

Have you banged your head recently of something?

Again I refer you to the original post that was someone forming an opinion based on something that actually happened, rather than guess work. Us finishing top way above QPR happned, ergo we are / were a better team, ergo that persons opinion was fact based and not just a hunch. What actually happens is something else entirely, but their opinion was based on something concrete.

I'd be Ricky Gervais, Babs would be Stephen Merchant and Manwell Pablo would be Karl Pilkington.

A lot of the time Karl made more sense than either of the other too though

Well he is.

His wages might be more but transfer fee is clearly 2-4 million cheaper and he is a much better player.

You will also need to factor in that Ba will command a higher signing on fee than Ulloa.

Whilst using Ba as an example he would not have been a better choice for us, yes more wages but if he doesn't perform and Vardy does what do you think Vardy will be asking Pearson? "How come he's on X wages whilst I'm on Y?". His wages would cause a massive imbalance in our squad and will upset the other players... exactly what happened to QPR when they were last in the prem.

Ba is also cheaper on the transfer fee but that is because Chelsea deem him surplus to requirements whereas Brighton did not want to lose their star player hence the escalated price.

So if we take Transfer fee, signing on fee and wages that we could say Ba would be the more expensive option.. Not to mention he's older and buggers off to ACON. Yes we overpaid for Ulloa but we can't write the guy off when we haven't even seen him in action in the prem.

I'm curious why some people don't think Troy Deeney can't make the step up to the Premier League and be a useful forward in the top flight. He was easily one of the best strikers in the Championship last season, is a great athlete, is a hard worker, has put past personal problems aside, has been improving every year, and is hitting his prime years as a player

One other comment about his high price tag: it's not just the new PL television deal that's driving that up, it's also competition between rival clubs to buy him. There are two other clubs in a bidding war with Leicester, and other clubs were sniffing around earlier, too, so Watford will certainly play one side against the other to get the best deal.

It's a high price, to be fair, but it's not awful value.

Where's Pablo's bum chum Facecloth to back him up, 2 on 1 attack here.

I dunno why you keep going your actually agreeing with me by the looks of it. All I said to him is it doesn't work like that and it doesn't.

This thread is making me laugh, I can't believe people would think ba would think of signing for us

Another reason why he is a bad example.

More chance of Ba Ba Black Sheep signing for us

To clear this up I was just naming players going for less than 8 million, Andy Kings Bollocks decided to pick it up and run with one of them as he butted into a conversation halfway through. I've said plenty of times I'm making the point we could of got better not sign Ba specifically, he obviously wouldn't come here he's got a shot at winning something and playing Champions League football. Even though according to our resident Ricky Gervais, Leo Ulloa is a better player.

You've got no evidence of that what so ever.

It's not like I have to worry about being wrong is it, one of both of them will take to the field soon enough and we'll see who's right. I'll gladly hold my hands up if I'm wrong although I doubt the same can be said of those I'm arguing with there will be a que of excuses like "He needs to settle" "He's being played out of position" " He had a cold 3 weeks ago" etc etc.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease someone just sign him so this thread can be locked

A premiership experienced striker whilst being at top level for a number of years? He would certainly command more than Ulloa, a player no doubt we're taking a punt on! Plus Ulloa would be happy to have a chance at the Premiership.

Not to mention that even if we met all demands for Ba but so did someone like a West Ham how would we manage to finish the deal and make him our own? By "sweetening the deal" with a decent signing on fee, after all money talks with these sort of players.

For me though you've picked Ba whose a bad example of a cheaper striker than Ulloa.

Manwell will never leave this thread. Because in his mind, if you get bored of arguing, it's admitting that you have been 'bent over'.

He's such a mature guy like that.

Yeah non of that looks like Evidence to me, more conjecture.I was under the impression signing on fee's were always quite closely tied in with the transfer price myself.  But then as they're hardly ever reported it's hard to tell.

I've named about 7 strikers that are cheaper than Ulloa, and despite all this arguing about Demba bleeding Ba who was one of them (who I still maintain offers bet value by virtue of actually potentially being good enough in my eyes) I'm yet to see anyone argue we couldn't of got better for less which is my main point.

You don't get bent over Kitchboxer, your more than capable of bending yourself over with some of the stupid shit you come out with.

It's usually worded as Transfer fee + extras, and I would happily put a bet on to say that he would want a sizeable signing on fee.. you would be very naive to think otherwise.

I don't particularly have the time to trawl through god knows how many pages of arguments to find the other players, will you list them again and I will give you my honest opinion.

This could go on for hours, until someone caves in or get's banned for spoiling a thread, it's already carried on from yesterday.

I just felt sorry for you for once, as you was being attacked 2 on 1 style, and Facecloth hasn't come to your aid, it's like a WWE 2 on 1 handicap match.

Probably so but I'm moving for what could prove to be 10 Million pounds I'm expecting a pretty hefty signing on fee myself. Pointless argument anyway as you'll never know for sure. Campbell, Bojan, Quagerilla among others.

Not really, for one they're two completely separate discussions.

I've tried to drag the conversation back on to Deeney several times, but I am not the only one not letting the argument go, and it's quite hard to not go off on tangents when everyone's stock response to you not wanting him is "Well who else is there"

Doesn't matter, they were both giving verbals, there could be children coming on here as it's school holidays, Babs & AKCJ are experienced members of the forum, who should be setting a better example.

I recommend seeing a mediator to settle your differences.
