Donut Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 It was only really the last 15-20 mins around the Gerrard free kick where they looked likely. No firepower up front, Lambert off at half time but playing a player like that kills the movement in the team when there is no one who will run in behind. They lack firepower badly. Markovic on at half time in place of Lambert, perhaps slightly unlucky to be sent off but he did put a hand out needlessly. Cant deny Basel were the better team on the night other than the frantic ending. Liverpool more than deserved to go out. 1 win in 6 and a highly fortunate one vs ludogorets at that.

Basel are markedly better than us, so are Ludogorets, and without a top striker and a lot of misfiring flops, youre going to be found out at the top level.

And their striker (can't think of his name but currently top scorer in the Swiss League) looked a real handful. Well played to them. Very solid side

But he usually plays as a left midfielder or left-wing, he's not a striker in the proper sense.

It would be Arsenal's most winnable tie. All the other 2nd place finishers I think would probably want Dortmund.
