Esteban Cambiasso

To put things into prospective, there has to be a bit of concern if the deal isn't announced over today/tomorrow.

The press reports we saw at the start of the week included contract details - £5 million over 2 years and the fact Pearson was furious suggests there's some truth in this, that it wasn't something that was plucked out of thin air. You'd also think Pearson must have been reasonably aware of who the source of the leak might be, because I believe Cambiasso's father/brother act as his agent - so you'd think it unlikely the he'd want to have a pop at them for leaking the story even if they had.

The recent press reports are simply picking up Pearson's additional comments from his press conference yesterday in that "we're still interested" but given we seem to know some sort of deal has been offered the concern is "what is taking so long to make a decision?"

Its understandable that a player may wish to have a few days to consider their future, but equally you'd hope that if we've been talking with him we would have really sold the club to him to get that instant gut feel that makes you say "yes!" especially as there seems to be an absence of real confirmed interest elsewhere. It would also make both good footballing and commercial sense for the club to try and get the deal over the line so it could be announced before or at tomorrow's game - get fans and players a like that extra positive lift.

I'm sure work is ongoing as we speak, even if its just subtle contact so as we don't seem overly pushy, but the realisation is that if something concrete doesn't come soon maybe Esteban is looking for something more than we can offer and that if we're not his first choice we might be better focusing our efforts elsewhere?

I couldn't agree with last paragraph more.

Hold on, so Cambiasso failed his medical because he ate some deep-fried Japanese batter?

I want to shoot anybody who suggests he'll be announced at the game tomorrow. When have we ever done such a thing?

Jack Hobbs vs Scunthorpe was announced as a permanent signing, I believe?

But it also may be the case that Esteban is happy with the terms but his agent is being an arse about it all?

Birch is doing it while some kids do a relay round the table

i heard his medical was the relay against the kids, cross bar challenge from the edge of the area, singing a Sam Bailey "song" and finish off with the post horn gallop.

Found this back in May - which seems to confirm his family arrange his contracts...

Esteban Cambiasso’s brother and agent says no club in Italy has made contact regarding a move for the player.

Recent reports have linked both Fiorentina and Milan with the Argentine midfielder, who is leaving Inter this summer.

However, speaking to Calcio News 24, Federico Cambiasso revealed that the 33-year-old has received offers from Argentine, Spanish and Turkish clubs, but none from within the peninsula.

I never know when some one is taking the micky or not any more! I'm so confused!

Totally agree, so many people have made statements, I've taken the view they are all just making it up.

Best to chin off all statements made by people in the thread until an official source is posted. Made checking this thread a lot easier

Deal will be announced after 4pm

Ok cool - so we know the time

What I really want to know is which day will it happen on? Because people keep saying 4 o'clock - and it comes and goes - so I assume they mean 4 o'clock at some time in the future

Will he be signing for us or someone else?

Just saying 4 o'clock is pretty vague ...

I actually didn't look at this thread this morning and got some work done.

Logging on at lunchtime, I am disappointed to see:

a. he hasn't signed,

b. we are still only on 99 pages, and

c. people are still using the medical joke.

However, I am pleased to see that we are receiving uplifting news, such as the whale story.

Anyone with too much time on their hands want to start up a sweepstake on the announced time/date? Please also include a 'no deal' option.
