TheUltimateWinner Posted 23 August 2014 Author Posted 23 August 2014 As much as I love Nigel, something tells me Nugent is one of his favourites. If Vardy doesn't come in ahead of him then that will confirm it for me. You mean teachers pet sit in the stands with the manager Vardy?
floppus Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 It's ****ing weird to think that Drinkwater and James won't just walk back into the team. But they will...... Their absence cost us today...But mixed feelings after the event with only much respect for all that wore the shirt...The 3 injured missing likely starters plus the inclusion of Schlupp ( lacking end product) instead of a more creative Knockheart..(needed because of a workmanlike but more defensive midfield) It is still clear to see that despite our gratitude to the retained players from last year one or two are not up to the PL. 3 more in, JS, GTF, DH, AK, out and we'll be OK.
The Doctor Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 The second one was cast iron. The first one was a bit more difficult but he hit it so central and without conviction it had no chance of going in. The second one though, come one, a striker playing at this level has to score that really. These are the fine margins we are working to now. Not really - the first one was hit towards the far corner but took a knick off the defender which took it into courtois' path
Kitchandro Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Albrighton who got effortlessly had the moment he came on. He offered Hazard a free shot from 15 yards. Nothing wrong with thinking he's out his depth but when you suggest Albrighton instead who gave away a goal by doing the basics shit 5 mins after being on the pitch it undermines what you're saying. No it doesn't, Albrighton may be just as weak defensively (for the sake of argument) but I just think he's a better player. Schlupp is shockingly wasteful in possession, regardless of his defending. Like I said just because I think certain players are better than Schlupp it doesn't mean they're perfect.
Ric Flair Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Dean Hammond, have the keys to my gaff son. You've been exceptional these last two games, I feel a right fcukin prat.
Haydos Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 The second one was cast iron. The first one was a bit more difficult but he hit it so central and without conviction it had no chance of going in. The second one though, come one, a striker playing at this level has to score that really. These are the fine margins we are working to now. They should, but when they set up well, hit hit low and in the corner and it's still saved, what can you do? Seriously, watch the chance again, the ground the keeper closes down is astonishing. If he'd have taken it earlier I think it would have been in but the moment he nudges it out in front of him Courtois is within yards of him Personally I think the first one he had a better chance with, he could have just smashed it.
bongo92 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We played really well, so we have to be proud of the boys. The game however depicts what you need to be if you want to be premier league; clinical, and strength in depth. Both which we need to work on
Kitchandro Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Jeff's decision making is no more questionable than Riyad's, and the latter is an out-and-out winger. He does, however, need to work on his crossing if he's to make it as a wide man. Fair point, but unlike Schlupp we've actually seen Mahrez do plenty of positive things since he joined. Schlupp looked to have potential because of his pace at one stage but for some time now he's looked completely useless.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Dean Hammond, have the keys to my gaff son. You've been exceptional these last two games, I feel a right fcukin prat. Fair play to you. I feel the same about King. However, they need support or they'll run out of steam. Drinky and James out for another two weeks apparently.
Nick Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Wind your neck in.. I didn't predict us to keep it to 3, I said it would be a great effort if we did. And we did. Chill yerself man... My neck? Just one thread without a Col City post saying I told you so would be miracle.
dedlock Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Pre match I hoped we wouldn't be beaten more than 2-0.I'm now dissappointed we lost 2-0.So many positives to take from that game!
jimmeh Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Ulloa was awful! No effort whatsoever. Although I think he would have stuck away Nuge's one on one. GTF is ridiculously overweight. It's embarrasing he got on the pitch. We need reinforcements ASAP. Or we are going down.

What? King and Hammond were our two best players! Tiredness, a bit of luck and Chelsea's overall quality cost us. I hope you mean that our depth cost us, not missing those two. Because King and Hammond played their arses off today.
LCFC Rennie Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Positive performance, all we need is a few injured players to return, a couple of signings to add more depth to the squad and hopefully some finishing practice. Happy with the lads today. Long drive back up to Manchester now though.

It's embarrasing he got on the pitch. We need reinforcements ASAP. Or we are going down. He got back and defended on a number of occasions so that's an exaggeration.

Guest Col city fan Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 My neck? Just one thread without a Col City post saying I told you so would be miracle. Read the thread through. It wasn't a prediction, so no told you so involved. Why do you wish to cause trouble?
leicesterseddon Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Let's get the negatives out the way first: 1. Delivery from set-peices (particularly corners) still leaves something to be desired. 2. Nugent really needs to be a bit more clinical at this level. 3. The squad looks very thin now. We hardly had to deal with injuries to key players last season, but it's unlikely that will be the case this season. Finishing the game with GTF on the pitch against Chelsea is not something I thought we'd be doing this season. But: 1. We matched one of the best sides in the league for the best part of an hour, at their own ground. 2. We went there with a very positive, attacking attitude. It looks like we're going to go to the big boys this season and try to compete, rather than just parking the bus and hoping for the best. 3. Dean Hammond has come on leaps and bounds. Also King and Moore had excellent games. Would have taken a 0-2 loss before the game, but I was surprised by how well we coped. Very pleased overall.
Matty Hamez Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Really impressive performance, I thought. Yeah, we could have taken our chances better, but I'm not unhappy. We were their equals in the first half. That's big, to me.
kingfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Will take a 2-0 loss, we held our own for 60 minutes & we didn't embarrass ourselves, so all in all despite a loss I will take that result any day of the week. We definitely need signings now though, our depth is being shot at, if Cambiasso is pissing about move on, we can't afford to go another week negotiating with his representatives and getting nowhere.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 23 August 2014 Author Posted 23 August 2014 Pen_3 is blatantly this tosser on BBC RL right now...
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Such a good display and frustrated we didn't get a point to be honest. Nugent and his miss was absolutely criminal at this level can't pass up chances like that. And forgetting that thought he was very average anyway. King had another good game and not many others didn't to be honest. Desperately need some centre mid cover now though
ADK Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Nugent Schlupp and GTF aren't good enough at this level imo. Nugent and Schlupp are ok as squad players. GTF just looked out of place.
st albans fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Nugents first effort was deflected . It looked to be headed towards the bottom corner but courtois would probably have caught it on the end of his finger like a Haarlem globetrotter!
