Chelsea 2-0 Leicester - Post Match Discussion

How are people trying to make GTF a scapegoat, and why does it still come as a shock when fans see his waist line. We all know he's tubby and he's not got any pace. He came on and played in a completely different position to what he usually plays against one of the best teams in the world. He didn't do anything to rave about but he hardly do anything wrong for some fans reactions, or to make him a scapegoat.

He's not a scapegoat , the game was lost before he came on but when you're playing in the Prem and you're earning the money he's earning you should at least make sure your gut doesn't wobble when you run.

The red kit looked fantastic.

I think it's important to take away positives like this from the game

surely the job of nige and the coaching team?

If he wasn't fit enough then he wouldn't have been on the pitch, injuries or no injuries.

Lets put a few things into perspective.

Nugent

A lot of people on here call the nugent 'haters' for scapegoating him. But in reality, is a player who struggles to score goals in the championship, and a player renowned for needing 3-4 chances before finishing, a good player to rely on? Answer - no.

It's probably the scapegoating of the guy after 180 mins of prem football that pisses people off.

The fact he's been a very good player for us since he signed is why people are rightly (imho) quick to defend him.

Anybody watching the Everton - Arsenal game now, see the difference between Naismith's goal and Nugent's chance. Szczęsny so slow off his line vs Courtois. That really was a top save.

Hope everyone is logical about this defeat look at the player's they have at there disposal, we put up a good fight but ultimately Class makes the difference! I for one will not lose sleep over this loss and the chelsea Manager and fan's giving us praise is good enough for me today. Also we are missing key first team player's in Drinkwater, james, Knocky and vardy all of them make a big difference to our side. Expect us to get better and better, can't wait to see a fit Vardy play for us as think he will be a big player for us with his pace.

Keep the faith Guy's

Brilliant performance from the lads. Up against probably the best side in the PL and we showed them that we wasn't a walkover.

Things could have been different if Nuge would have finished off the one v one. You need to take you're chances and unfortunately we didn't.

Overall very happy even though we lost. Very positive start so far going into another tough test against the Gunners on Saturday.

Ohh and the red kit is quite nice.

Performance

Great, outstanding. But, it is far easier to play well in a match when you are expected to get nothing. When the pressure is on us to take points, like against west brom, west ham, stoke, villa, etc. It will be a totally different game.

On today's showing Shurrle, Costa etc the same if not worse

Forwards miss chances all the time, literally all the time. Nugent should have bagged one today but at least he's getting the chances, something we could have done with from our other forward today

Nugent's role in the Championship provided a great workrate, never giving defences a second to rest and linking up really well with Dyer on the left or Drinkwater & Co pushing up on the edge of the box. He needs to adapt to the Premier League or at least get that real team player workrate back that benefitted the team so well last season

Although as the left forward, without both his strike partner or Dyer on the left (desperate for a specialist left winger if we're to play 442) it will be difficult for him

As for easy to play when you're expected to get nothing? Chelsea will spank plenty of those teams 4, 5 or more... So I wouldn't say it's easy!

Really looking forward to seeing a fully fit midfield of Drinkwater and James with a fully fit Vardy up front with Ulloa in this league. We will deffinately suprise a few sides this year.

Relax everybody, any points from the top 6 or 8 teams will be a bonus.

How we do this year will be decided on our results against the other clubs in this league.

Drink beer, Kiss women and enjoy the ride.

If we lose 2-0 at Burnley, I hope you stick to your beliefs.

Players rise to the occasion, and the level of your opponents.

We had a stronger 11 fielded for most of our matches last season - Did we put in a better performance than the one today? Simply put - no.

Nugent struggles to score goals in the Championship? 13, 15, 14, 20 - last four seasons at that level. I'm not going to call you out as a "hater" but I will say that you're invalidating your argument by coming out with utter dross like that.

Some comments on reddit about GTF are hilarious

"Some bloke from the park just came on for leicester"

The bloke has good feet but bloody hell what a fattie

Also, the 3 or 4 chances argument is a daft one. Most strikers below the very top echelons will have a similar ratio I'm sure.

You cannot include penalties.

No keeper in world football should save a one on one. Whether it is courtois or logan. Nuge has a reputation of missing good chances, he did this season, he did last season.

How can so many people be wrong when saying he isn't good enough?

Vardy offers pace, ulloa offers presence.....Nuge offers missed chances, always has done always will do.

also why was our gaz taylor fletch trending on twitter? what did he do? or was it just cos he looks a bit plump?

I had a look on it and it was all jokes about his weight. I'm not gonna lie, I was p*ssing myself.

Apologies, I didn't realise I can't include penalties - because, of course, that wouldn't adhere to your warped logic.

13,15,14, 11 - it still isn't bad whatsoever, if anything it's very similar to / better than Ulloa who you argue should be included ahead of him. I'll listen to reasonable and thoughtful criticisms of Nuge but his recent record at Championship level is not a negative stick to beat the guy with when arguing against his inclusion in the team, quite frankly it's bizarre.
