MGLCFC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 We currently have, including Wasilewski, 3 fit centre halfs. I would be absolute madness to let him go now. With all 4 of the current centre backs fit I would stil guess at us needing another one, if anything just for cover and security at the back. If Morgan or Moore get injured and Wasilewski is gone we are then in serious trouble. Besides this will be his only shot at the premiership - he'll want to see it out. Depends what Anderlecht can offer - He could sit on our bench all season, so I guess with that possibility in mind, an emotional return to the club he loves would be appealing, particularly if he has a better chance of playing regularly. He's in the twilight of his career and a year not playing to him could be a wasted year.
Babylon Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Clearly he wouldn't go without us having a replacement coming in. We aren't suicidal.
Finnegan Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Given Pearson's philosophy of young potential nurtured by guys like Wasyl, I'd be surprised if he let him stroll out without some effort to get him to stay. Besides, he had his big goodbye, he had his cute visit from their fans and now he has a chance to play some Premiership football.
Haydos Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Clearly he wouldn't go without us having a replacement coming in. We aren't suicidal. Get out of here with your wild, speculatory opinions!
Robin JD Popley Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Would be a shame to see him go, after all, he is a pretty solid tank at the back and his off the pitch aura is what makes us as fans love him. However, if he wanted to play regular 1st team football, doubt any of us would begrudge him that. Need a replacement though, as Babylon said.
jayfox26 Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 If this is the case we need a serious number of signings this week!!.. God I can see a panic buy scenario looming on the final day!.. Our recruitment process has taken a serious turn for the worst!.. What a cock up!why is it a cock up? As I've said many times and will continue to say, there is no evidence to suggest the lack of transfers is the clubs or anyone within the clubs fault. We all know Nige won't just sign anyone and will only bring in the right players. All the players that have we've bid for and haven't joined us, all have reasons that aren't necessarily the clubs fault.Back to Was, and I only think he will go once we sign a replacement. We all know how hard its been to bring players in, so no way will Nige let anyone leave before a replacement has actually signed a contract.
Craig Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 I did think the way he came over and waved to us at the end on Saturday was a bit OTT and odd. If this is the case, then that would make sense. He was also in Belgium yesterday for the GP...
MC Prussian Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 He had a great season with us and was an important element and a steady defender for the team. I think he would have tremendous issues coping in the Premier League, there's no way you could deploy him as a RB. Maybe this is the best deal for all parties involved? Marcin's a cult hero in Belgium and it would be a neat last spell to end his career there.
Bettsj2 Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 why is it a cock up? All the players that have we've bid for and haven't joined us, all have reasons that aren't necessarily the clubs fault. I am a little suprised at the amount of people who are shocked at us not signing all of our targets (whoever they may be). Clubs miss out on signings all the time. Just because you want them, doesnt mean you'll get them. Been like that for as long as I can remember. O'Neill missing out on John Hartson and Ben Thatcher or Brian Little missing out on Bob Taylor spring to mind. Not sure the club can be held accountable as its just the transfer market as its always been.
DeclanMC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 I don't think he should leave, and I doubt he will. There's always room for a destroyer in every team, even better when that destroyer is Marcin in a Leicester shirt.
MHC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 I wouldn't mind losing Wasilewski if we were signing Michael Dawson as his replacement.
DeclanMC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 I wouldn't mind losing Wasilewski if we were signing Michael Dawson as his replacement. He's going to Hull I think?
MHC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 He's going to Hull I think? That's a shame, he would be a perfect signing for us.
weller54 Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 That's a shame, he would be a perfect signing for us. Sad fact is.. We probably won't /can't pay Michael Dawson 's pay demands!!
MHC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Sad fact is.. We probably won't /can't pay Michael Dawson 's pay demands!! I think we definitely can but we won't because of the wage structure.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 He's going to Hull I think? Apparently so
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Would be surprised if this is true. If I remember correctly Nige adores Was & even said to the media how much he likes his style of play.
PAULCFC Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Dawson would be a great signing, solid defender and was Spurs captain not so long ago if im not mistaken.
Guest Col city fan Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 I hope not, but this may have legs. I would imagine Wasyl wants first team football at his stage of his career? Lets hope he don't go. He's been great for us.
65RosesFox Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 In a lot of ways this is a relief, mind you it would be fun to see what the commenters make of him How the hell would it be a relief? He kept Moore out of the team for the second half of the season and was solid. No way we'd let him go unless we have a replacement lined up, could end up being good business if the replacement is decent Wasyl has Top Flight Football experience, played in the Champions League and is a full international and has proven he can play well with our team. We will struggle to find a decent replacement for him in less than a week without spending a lot. Prior to this rumour people were saying we need another CB, selling Wasyl would need we probably need two, and less than a week to find them. I hope he stays.
kingfox Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Going back to Anderlecht would be a good move for him, their fans love him. Can't see it though unless we have a replacement lined up.
Deucalion Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 No one will be complaining about Was going once Sol Bamba is back.

As I said, depends who the replacement is. I do think he has a lot to offer but there are plenty out there with premier league experience and aren't as rash as he can sometimes be when defending
