The Emirates

Yeh that's another one with an ugly as fvck roof design.

The epitome of a huge, impersonal bowl that has no Kop end, no main stand, no roof worth a name. Rubbish to look at, miles away from the pitch, poor acoustics and nothing memorable about it other than the fact it's big.

A typical NFL style stadium that should not be home to a football club with a history like Arsenal's. To think they moved out of the gorgeous Highbury for that.

I can't think of a stadium built in the last 20 years which has a decent design, so I couldn't see anyone doing a better job with ours. Would love all 4 stands to get a makeover so they're all unique and close to the pitch. The ground wouldn't need to be much bigger, just better.

The Cardiff stand would actually look good if it wasn't red, at least it's got a separate roof and not that disgusting modern thing where the roof just slopes down to join with the rest of it like at the KC Stadium.

errr...? why not just make the pitch bigger?

I overheard some over-opinionated Forest fans discussing how much of a 'shit hole' our stadium is at the game last season. Brushed it off as them being bitter twats considering the stadium itself is actually pretty nice, but it got me thinking about how much of a shit hole the surrounding scenery actually is.

Don't get me wrong - I understand that land big enough for a stadium that close to the city is probably pretty hard to come by, but it is a bit of an eye sore to look at.

I don't get this shit ground comments loads of people make. It's modern looking . You get a good view everywhere and we can expand it easy. What more do u lot want ? It maybe generic but that's maybe because this shape is the best most safe and cost effective stadium style of today's football teams.

I was about to post something saying something along the lines of: "I can't believe you're spending time, complaining about our stadium. Yes Filbert Street was a fortress - yes it had it's charm. But it's gone. Get over it. The KP is a great stadium, easy to build and extend on."

...but then I remembered this is foxestalk, and it'd be a waste of time. Never known people to content with having something new to complain about.

French stadiums are the best looking, even the modern ones, have a look at the Stade Océan and the Allianz-Riviera

Not sure how many people on here went to Filbo but it often had a crap atmosphere in the 30 years i went there and people moaned about it all the time.

Have to agree, spent years in SK1 at Filbo and it could be very quiet when things weren't going well, the people who say it was always an intimidating fortress either didn't go much or are airbrushing the bad times out. We did lose some atmosphere when the old SK1 regulars either gave up or were split around the new stadium but we shouldn't base the analysis of what we have now on a false baseline from Filbert Street.

I agree that our ground is a soulless sh*tbowl but would cost far too much money to simply knock down and replace surely

I'm sure it's most cost effective, but I don't want a cost effective stadium, I wanted them to spend money on a good stadium. Bare in mind we have to deal with watching us at this thing for the rest of our lives. I'm not sure how cost effective it was anyway, we still went into administration.

As for it being most safe, no idea what you're getting at.

We can expand it easy, allegedlly, but, also allegedly, only on one stand. Expanding it isn't necessarily going to make it ok. It's a shit stadium all the way around, it's the same all the way around.

I'm not sure it's that unreasonable to want us to play in a nice ground when so many other clubs our size and smaller have better grounds than us. It's a real shame.

What is actually shit about it?

The inside, the outside, all of it?

People say it is generic, but we can add character to it without pulling it down and starting again.

The glass front looks really nice it is just a shame most people don't see it on the walk in, if we made a bit more of the walk down Raw Dykes Road and that corner as that is the first bit most people see it would be better.

Really there is nothing wrong with the stadium and if people actually tried to appreciate it rather than moaning about everything they would see in terms of facilities, view, access, comfort, it is miles better than Filbert Street. For all it's character and legendary atmosphere Filbo was 2 small shitty sheds, one dilapidated double decker and one half decent stand. We had to leave, we had out grown it and we couldn't develop it.

Most away fans are complementary about our ground in terms of facilities, the biggest complaint is the atmosphere, ironically the only thing we can change but instead we talk of tearing it down, well guess what ripping it down and rebuilding it won't make anyone sing any louder.

So just enjoy the fact we have a great team and a great stadium, stop living in the past Filbert street, as much as I loved it, really wasn't that amazing.

Persoanlly, having never really been old enough to remember any games I went to at Filbert Street, I think that the stadium is starting to grow its own character more than we appreciate. Yes it's the same as St Marys etc but there have been some really memorable moments in it, Howard against Leeds, winning L1 and the Championship. Of course it's not going to be the same as Filbo but its slowly building its own memories and the even the atmosphere is really starting to pick up.

I think our ground is ok? Most new grounds are pretty much the same. I think when( not if?) it's further devolved I feel they'll add more suites boxes etc as such is football nowadays. Buy that land behind the easy stand and build another tier on top,Happy days .

I loved filbert street, sat all over the ground started in old members stand standing/sitting on the wall, in the east stand (supporters club) double decker and the Kop (standing in pen 2) and sitting in pen 1. Finished in fosse club. Do I miss it not really ? Other than the carling stand all the views was awful. It was a dump? Our dump but a dump all the same...

Yes there is lots wrong with the stadium, as I've already explained.

Firstly, I'm not comparing it with Filbert Street. Filbert Street wasn't good enough, it had some great things about it and also some really shit things about it. I'm comparing to other stadiums that exist in this day and age.

1. The stands are too far from the pitch. Aesthetically this is poor and also makes people feel more removed from the action. It makes it less intimidating for opposition players.

2. The seats are a horrible colour. Makes it look dirty and ugly.

3. The stands are all the same. This means there is no proper 'Kop' end (essential for a great stadium). No wonder there has been so much debate about where people should go for atmosphere. This also makes it really rubbish to look at. There is nothing impressive about 4 identical stands which are all joined together and very basic in design. When you look at it, whether at the ground or on TV, it always looks and sounds one of the least impressive, least unique and least atmospheric in England.

4. This leads me to the roof, which is also just the same roof the whole way around, and is poorly designed. This makes the acoustics extremely shit. It's a real struggle to hear the fans from the other side of the stadium even when they are singing loudly in big numbers, and to prove the point - when you watch a match back on TV and you know we were loud, it sounds a bit rubbish. Compare with well designed (often older) stadiums and you can here a clear, clean roar much better, and that's not because more people are singing at all, it just carries more effectively. The sound you here at grounds like ours is much more muffled and quieter. Next time you get a chance, compare the cheering sound at our ground when we score with that at, let's say, Bramall Lane or the City ground, and you will see what I mean.

5. It's almost exactly the same as St Mary's, The Ricoh, The Madejski, etc. Giving it no unique touch that a club this proud deserves. We should have more than a generic identikit stadium. Where'sthe pride in that?

So yeh, lots wrong with it. It's got nothing to do with our fans (we've been great so far this season), it's just a boring, ugly, badly designed stadium with acoustics which do nothing to help our atmosphere.

And btw, what facilities are great? The toilets are as shit as most places I've been, the food/drinks are crap and the service to get them is awful. And contrary to popular belief there are several restricted/poor views there. What 'facilities' are there that people like?

Not sure how people can say there are restricted views.

Unlike filbo there are no posts or pillars in the way.

S what restricts the view.
