I'd probably go with the same side as we started with on Sunday, with Hammond sitting deep. Vardy plays regardless of the formation for me.

Fair enough. Like I said though, it means we either end up with a system that plays into Palace's hands in wide areas or Nugent on the wing. Neither is desirable.

To be honest when I saw our line up before Sunday, my first thought was that I was disappointed. For me, if you're playing a front 3, at least one of them needs to be a natural wide player. However, we didn't really play a front 3. It was more a front 2 of Ulloa and Vardy with Nugent behind. It worked perfectly. We've got so many options, but I just can't see an option being leaving Vardy out. He was sensational and for me he completely changes the way we play when he's in the team.

Just watching their highlights. Their announcer does that really annoying and cringeworthy thing when announcing the goalscorer, "Wilfred Zaha, Wilfred...", then leaves the crowd to repeat the last name. How crap is that? Makes our Poznan look positively middle class. Hopefully he wont get chance on satdeh, unless he does "Leicesters 5th goal scored by Jamie Vardy, Jamie....." Vardy's havin a party.

I think this will be a draw. If Mahrez doesn't start then I can see him having an impact on the game as the way Palace play, we'll need a winger of Mahrez's style to open them up.

I agree with some of the posters on here that you pick a team for the team that you are playing so in that respect go for 4-1-1 again with Nugent behind Ulloa and with Mahrez and Schlupp on the wing or Mahrez and Vardy on the wing

Think we need to play more defensively in wide positions seeming they will have Bolasie Puncheon or Zaha running down the wings. 

 

Can't see DeLaet and Konch keeping pace.

 

The flipside is that we push them far enough back so they are only effective on the break.

Cambiasso will start, whatever the formation. If he tires he will be substituted. I think Mahrez could start. Could be Hammond left out, or possibly Nugent. If Nugent plays, I think it will be a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Hammond on the bench, ( Drinky, Esteban - Vardy, Nuge, Mahrez - Ulloa ). If 4-3-3, I think it will be Nuge on the bench, ( Drinky, Cambiasso, Dean - Jamie, Leonardo, Mahrez ).

Part of Nuge's role against Man Utd was to pay attention to Blind. If such a tactical need is not there with Palace, the team could change, but only slightly.

Palace have done really well so far considering they beat Everton at Goodison, who in terms of defence are a lot stronger than United. It'll be very interesting to see how we're going to set up and play against a team, that I consider, to be one of the teams that we have to beat if we are going to stay up. I hope Nigel sticks with the same group of players that won against United, but I don't think 433 will be a good formation to play against Palace. My heart says 2-1 away win with Vardy and Ulloa scoring and my head thinks 1-1 draw, Ulloa.

Its probably been posted somewhere already but NONE of Palace's starting 11 against Everton were involved last night. Not even on the bench.

So unfortunately that extra time defeat will have no/very little bearing on the players starting Saturday. Probably only 3 players max involved Wednesday night will make Palace's bench.

Unless Colin chooses to start them after their performance which is very unlikely.

This opens the game up for me and makes it interesting, Palace played well at Everton but their Europa League hangover would have had a bearing on that result I'm certain of.

Can see us winning but I'm going to predict a 2-2 draw. If we replicate how we played away at Chelsea in first half or second half V manure we will undoubtedly win by two goals I feel.

Palace fan here, we had it all last season so I dont think you'll get many palace fans saying anything like that.

 

Im expecting a really tough game against a very sharp looking side, what I will say though is that we are a very big physical side and I dont think your forwards will be able to bully our defenders like they did Man utd's, I watched the man uts game again last night and their defence didnt win one ball all game, our CB's are 6'5 and 6'4 and our fullbacks are both over 6 foot aswell.

 

I think it will be a 1-1, in a way the sides play in a simular way and could cancel each other out.

Tactical reasons.

 

Pearson has one massive selection headache, but I think people are not taking into account that before Zaha & Bolasie tore us apart a couple of season's back, playing 4-3-3 De Laet & Konchesky will have no support in front of them, that's why I think we need to revert back to Mahrez & Schlupp for this match, for defensive & support reasons as well as counter attacking reasons.  

 

Hammond I think would do a better job on Jedinak, while yes putting Vardy back on the bench does look a bit mental, but away from home we've had Nugent playing behind Ulloa and it's worked, Nugent I think if we get on the back foot, would do a better job of dropping back in midfield, than Vardy would.

Based on that, and what the Palace fan said about their big powerful centre backs, is there an argument to drop Ulloa and play with some more pace?

They would run their back 4 ragged and offer more pace to counteract the likes of Zaha, but we would miss Ulloa's presence in both boxes.

Ulloa has to play, he's the focal point of our attack. Look at how confident the players are at putting in crosses from any angle now knowing there is a chance Leo will connect.
