Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock hopes Leicester’s victory over Manchester United was a one-off ahead of this weekend's match at Selhurst Park. Warnock would prefer to assess the Foxes on their defeat of Stoke rather than last weekend’s incredible 5-3 win over Louis van Gaal’s United. "The Man United game is a very unusual game, so I don't think you can take too much out of that game, other than that they took their chances really well," Warnock said. "I look at the way they beat Stoke. That's more realistic, I think. They beat Stoke quite well, they were very organised. It's a hard place to go Stoke and it was a fabulous result. They were very professional." Warnock, who has years of Championship experience, praised Leicester counterpart Nigel Pearson for reviving the club after narrowly missing out on promotion the season before last. "Nigel's been building a team now for a couple of years," he said. "I've got a lot of respect for Nigel, I think he's done a fabulous job and it's not always been simple at Leicester. "There have been moments where I'm sure people higher up thought about changing, but he stuck at it. "It was a cruel way of missing out on promotion. I remember it clearly. From one end of the pitch to the other. In 30 seconds you're in the play-off final and then 30 seconds later you're not. That's as cruel as it gets. "They regrouped and Nigel got to add to the squad and they never looked back." Warnock, who has Marouane Chamakh available following a hamstring problem, believes Leicester's squad and his Palace side share similar characteristics. "He's got a very good group of players, similar to ours in character," Warnock said. "They're all together, they've come up and won the league. And they're not frightened of anything. When you come up you just want to play. "I always liked Jamie Vardy, before last weekend against United, and David Nugent's an unsung hero. "They spent well in the summer with the striker, Leonardo Ulloa, and at the back they've always had a steady side. "Midfield creativity they've got, different types of players, Esteban Cambiasso. It's a good group, a good mix." Warnock changed all 11 players for the midweek Capital One Cup defeat by Newcastle, which came during extra-time, and is likely to revert to the side which won at Everton last weekend for the visit of the Foxes.
Dan Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 I wouldn't read anything into what managers say to the press. I really don't see what they have to gain by revealing any plans. His praise probably is genuine but that's not to say he likes us as a club or a fanbase.

Jedinak or CAMBIASSO? I know where I'm going. Drinkwater or MacArthur, again, no doubt there. And let Hammond sit on their deeper striker. They tend to play 2 up top with one sitting in a number ten role. So let Esterban or Hammond do a job on him whoever he is. The rest should take care of itself. We're too good to not score against them so ultimately, let's defend right and the boys up top will do the rest.

Chug Laguna Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 When CP went through the whole shitstorm and eventually appointed Warnock in the most underwhelming appointment possible, what immediately sprang to mind was that Simpsons episode where the bus breaks down and they run out of time but have to have the kids saved so they just say Moe did it... "And eventually Palace were managed by... oh, let's say, Neil Warnock."
maddog Posted 26 September 2014 Posted 26 September 2014 We can take solace in the fact Palace suffered some noticeable home defeats last season - 3-0 to Newcastle and 4-1 to relegated Fulham. Most of their wins were 1-0s including a noticeable one against Chelsea (John Terry own goal). I'm going to change my original 2-2 prediction and say Leicester win 3-2. Come on boys!

No disrespect back but I cant remember the last time a team really took us apart, last season we only lost 0-1 away to Man city, with there keeper giving MOTM, only lost 2-1 away to Chelsea with us pushing for a late equaliser, weve only lost 4 of our last 15 league matches, it will be a really tight tomorrow but you certaintly wont turn up and win 4-0, wont happen. We were poor start of the season but last couple of games look back to our old selfs.

Its hard to drop any of the front 3 but I would love Mahrez back in. It's hard to drop Hammond but I would love James back in. There isn't enough space in the line up and I don't even know what formation I want to see. I'm glad we have someone I can trust to make the right decisions 9 times out of 10 and fix it promptly the other 1 time. Agreed. It's such a difficult job to pick this team - no-one deserves to lose their shirt, but there's plenty of good players who I think deserve a chance. We're forced to leave several (not necessarily seven) good players out of the match day squad entirely. I start to think about who I'd pick, and then I realise it's someone else's job, and it's like a big weight off my shoulders.
