lavrentis Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 DT isn't helping end the cliche of a typical UKIP voter is he? Ex labour/Tory voters?
Mark_w Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 Typical narrow minded little twat. I am a UKIP voter. If you want to call me an idiot , then say it to my face, sonny. You're an idiot. I wasn't exactly hiding that opinion.
lavrentis Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 Seems like there's a prejudice against UKIP voters on this site , unsurprising though as this site has many left wing members

Mark_w Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 The old Churchill quote really does ring true.... 'If you are not a liberal at 20, you have no heart. If you are not Conservative by 40, you have no brain' Winston Churchill - 40 year old member of the Liberal Party. Apologies for the UKIP mistake, had it in my head you were voting for them.
Webbo Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 Churchill rewrote a quote by a French politician. The original is; "Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head."
Rincewind Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 So you won't vote? They will create jobs by encouraging business, and they wont try to take every penny he earns and give it to lazy ****ers who dont bother My MP is Jon Asworth. He does a good job. One of the best attendances at Parliament has a social conscience hence his huge majority so it would be no point voting against him as he will get in. i cannot have any affect on anywhere is so like it or not I will be stuck with him. Not sure if the MRLP have a candidate.
Buce Posted 17 October 2014 Author Posted 17 October 2014 Churchill rewrote a quote by a French politician. The original is; "Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." Not quite the original: Georges Clemenceau (to whom I assume you are referring?) in turn, appropriated it from the historian Francois Guizot, who made the observation with reference to Republican/Monarchist at the time of the French Revolution.
ADK Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 So Churchill, a man who vehemently opposed the creation of the NHS, turns out to not support socialism.
Guest MattP Posted 17 October 2014 Posted 17 October 2014 Winston Churchill - 40 year old member of the Liberal Party. Apologies for the UKIP mistake, had it in my head you were voting for them. Accepted and appreciated. Read all the liberal party policy from then mind. Remember the Australian conservatives today are still called the liberal party.
Strokes Posted 18 October 2014 Posted 18 October 2014 The conversation before the Lord Freud extract. The councilor's remarks were even worse than his comments. http://www.courier.co.uk/Tunbridge-Wells-councillor-says-disabled-people/story-23179735-detail/story.html I don't take an issue with that.
Webbo Posted 18 October 2014 Posted 18 October 2014 http://www.nao.org.uk/report/housing-benefit-fraud-and-error/ Not sure what this has got to do with tory MPs defecting to UKIP and I don't know what your point is seeing it says the govt have overpaid which is the opposite of what you normally claim. “Housing Benefit is a difficult benefit to administer and, against a background of unclear responsibilities and limited investment, it is unsurprising that total overpayments have increased. The Department for Work & Pensions is facing an escalating problem. The DWP has recognized the need to do more and has been developing a new strategy. As these initiatives are in the early stages, it is too early to know whether they are working. However, the Department will need to show that it is tackling problems with local authority incentives and targeting major areas of loss.” Amyas Morse, head of the National Audit Office, 17 October 2014
Vacamion Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 Can't believe there is no comment in here about the Mike Read Calypso UKIP song. It made my ears bleed. It's that toe-curling. My favourite tweet about it was "Mike Read has now sullied the good name of veteran Radio 1 DJs".

Bellend Sebastian Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 It's amazing, like seeing the moment someone actually loses their mind in front of your very eyes. Mind you, I never took UPrick seriously before, but now someone as edgy and cool as Mike Read is on board, that's the youth vote pretty much sewn up
Vacamion Posted 20 October 2014 Posted 20 October 2014 If Mike blacks up for the video, the Guardian will explode. Lance Percival made a career out of singing in a Jafaican accent. The Beatles did it with Ob la di, ob la da. A lot of The Police/Sting's best stuff is done in reggae style. In fact, if the PC police are outraged by Mike Read, they should be just as outraged at the culturally mangled utterances of Tim Westwood or Pro Green. My problem is not with Mike Read doing a Caribbean accent. My problem is, it's shite.
Alf Bentley Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 I see that good old Ken Clarke is having his say about UKIP, Europe and immigration: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29702449 Although he's a Tory, I always have a soft spot for Clarke as, unlike most politicians of all parties, he says what he thinks and expresses himself like a normal, intelligent human being, not a party-line automaton. He also always reminds me of my late father-in-law, a successful businessman who was a Tory throughout the 50s, 60s and 70s, joined the SDP in the 80s and then moved on to New Labour in the 90s.....all without ever changing his politics (capitalism with an international outlook, a human face and a safety net). A completely logical trajectory - the parties all just marched rightwards past him in his latter years. With a bit of luck, Ken will piss off a few more wavering Tory Eurosceptic MPs so that they join UKIP, more Tory voters than Labour will scuttle off to UKIP and the right will be split down the middle, just as the left/centre-left was in 1983, when the SDP defections led to Thatcher's first landslide...
Webbo Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 I've always liked Ken Clarke as well, shame he's so pro EU he'd have made a great PM. To be fair to Mrs T she got 42/43% of the vote. It wasn't just the splitting of the left wing vote why she got in.

Steven Posted 21 October 2014 Posted 21 October 2014 Ukip does deal with far-right, racist Holocaust-denier to save EU funding The agreement with the Polish Congress of the New Right will save Nigel Farage’s European parliament grouping http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/oct/20/ukip-does-deal-with-far-right-to-save-european-grouping Just so we all understand what Farage will do for power.
