blueharmie Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 Light weight and missed a sitter. We need better than this.
lgfualol Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 The players involved should have been reversed. Ulloa our best headererer, crossing it in to King. Had it been Ulloa on the receiving end we'd probably have scored.
Mark Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 I have to question the idea of four year deals all round without any signs the players are going to be up to it in this league.
Guest ttfn Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 Played ok today. If you don't "get" King now, you never will. Poor miss though.
ScouseFox Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 should be burying that. not a bad game though. classic kingy. tidy as you like but not massively effective if those around him play poorly.
Beliall Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 if he had started every game he would have buried that
StanSP Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 Light weight and missed a sitter. We need better than this. random scapegoating. Typical FT. On what basis was he light-weight today? Missed a sitter? Hardly a sitter. A good chance, yes. King wasn't even our worst midfielder on the pitch today.
Thracian Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 King was by far our man of the match and never stopped moving and making himself available from one end of the game to the other. Pity some of our specialist strikers don't get on the end of as many chances. None of the finishes was easy either because of the height of the ball or it's lack of pace coming towards him. The bloke was everywhere, breaking up attacks and instigating our own for all that our lack of width made passing options so limited. We should also have had someone attacking his flick across an wide-open goal in the first half.
theessexfox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Decent game today, should've done better with the header but oh well.
lee7 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 He had a couple of chances and should of done better with his header but in his defence it was flicked on at the last minute by a west brom defender! He's had more efforts on goal in 90 minutes than some of our strikers have in 4 games!
benpicko Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Funny how it takes a match for him to go from 'best performer this season, doesn't deserve to be left our' etc, to 'lightweight, need better than this'. And as others have said, I thought he was good again

I'm sorry but I have to question how on earth you came to the conclusion that King was our man of the match? He was virtually anonymous for the entire game and that is criminal when playing at the top of the diamond. His role was to help create chances and be ever present on the ball. You have to demand the ball in that midfield role and he simply didn't do it. We resorted to long ball throughout the entirety of the game and some of the blame for that is player's taking the easy route in possession but another is not enough movement and intelligence in that midfield from players to find space. King didn't have a bad game but he had no impact on the game whatsoever. He should have buried the header from Ulloa's cross, don't give me this bollocks about there was no pace on the ball, he was unmarked, 5 yards from goal and headed it straight at the keeper. I get that you love Andy King but you need to open your eyes more if you think he was our best player on that pitch yesterday.

Though I didn't think anyone in the midfield 4 looked particularly comfortable with the shape
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Lets stop being silly here and state the obvious..... he was defo NOT man of the match but I still feel he made a decent contribution and needs more game time.... he's an intelligent player that has more to his game than our other CM's
Raj Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 played well BUT cant miss chances like that in this division.

I get that you love Andy King but you need to open your eyes more if you think he was our best player on that pitch yesterday. I took the trouble to watch everything he did yesterday and he was forever involved. In particular when groups of players were struggling to find an outlet for any kind of pass King arrived and immediately found someone in space. One touch and the ball was on its way. He also never stopped running - a defensive interception here followed by a header in our attacking box a few moments later. I'd say his passing was under three touches 70% of the time and his accuracy of passing was by far the best from all I could see. Sadly, as so often, he had far too much to do and there were times when he himself was frustrated by the lack of passing options around him because of our total lack of width and effective movement. It made him hold the ball longer than he wished and that somehow summarised how bogged down we were by the lack of pace, movement and confidence. No wonder Swansea made enquiries for him. How easily he would fit into their team where everyone seems capable of passing and moving constructively. As for the header you mentioned I was perfectly placed to see it and he just couldn't generate sufficient power from what was a standing position. It was interesting though that at least he did manage three headers on target - and another across the face of goal which only wanted a tap in. Because I'd doubt our specialist strikers mustered that many shots between them. And I think there was one shot each from Drinkwater and James (who played well). Cambiasso's only threat on goal was the wrong end!
Thracian Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Interesting. I'm a big fan of his. But I thought he didn't get involved enough. Though I didn't think anyone in the midfield 4 looked particularly comfortable with the shape None had much in the way of options other than through the central corridor and even then I didn't think there was much in the way of slefless, intelligent movement. Schlupp could have provided some - or even Knockaert with a bit more discipline. I'd have had either or both over Drinkwater and Cambiasso on yesterday's showing.

StanSP Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 I love king but let's be serious, it was an absolute sitter. if a free header from 6 yards out isn't I don't know what is.. Just out of curiosity, were Vardy's overhead kick chance and Morgan's free header from a corner also sitters?

I'm amazed at your constant positivity for King regardless.
LCFC Rennie Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Thought he was ok. Hope people don't jump on the bandwagon and start slating him.
Tom17LCFC Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Just out of curiosity, were Vardy's overhead kick chance and Morgan's free header from a corner also sitters? you've answered your own question... vardy's overhead kick was a chance, not a sitter. the only morgan chance I remember was nothing like a free header.
StanSP Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 you've answered your own question... vardy's overhead kick was a chance, not a sitter. the only morgan chance I remember was nothing like a free header. How? And Morgan's chance was from a corner. No one marking him and it went just wide. Should have hit the target.
blueharmie Posted 2 November 2014 Author Posted 2 November 2014 Thracian what are you on? Stop defending the bloke it was a sitter. All he had to do was put it either side of the keeper.
