nettle Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 I honestly think he's been told to stay on his line and let the centre backs deal with the crosses coming in.
jimmeh Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Its because conrad isnt here pushing him for a starting place
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Nah... Kasper is good enough. It's law of averages. A side that's put under the level of pressure we are will concede goals. Get him in a confident, solid side, he's a real asset. Schmeichel is yet another player that's all too easy to slate at present. Its a team problem.

Goes somewhat towards my point earlier - it's not always Kasper's fault but it's easy to blame him.

Well the whole blame thing goes on and on.. Schlupp, Nugent, RDL, Kasper.. It's boring and misses the important point. The team currently looks devoid of confidence.
Out Foxed Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Sad we should have signed Marshall at the start of the season and unfortunately been proved right so far.

Disagree, any keeper in the top flight should be able to boss their 6 yard box, regardless of how much pressure they're put under.

Very much this - people seem desperate to scapegoat him. I mean mentioning the deeney goal? Let's not forget if he hadn't gone for that hogg would have just headed in anyway... or onions having a go at him for being down on the floor when Austin headed in yesterday, after he'd made a good save down there? Yes, he's suspect from crosses, all of our defence is, but when we let teams pile the pressure on, conceding is just a matter of time. The question is why konch and de laet just let the crosses come in As for hamer, he looked dodgy at Stoke and got quite lucky.
Guest Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 We could do better but he's the best we've got at the moment. Given that we tried so hard to keep him and gave him a new contract in summer, and that he's our vice captain, I really can't see him being sold. Who would take him? Who would we realistically get in? I also don't think he's helped out by the defence sometimes. For when a goal is conceded, people are very quick to point the finger at Kasper but in some cases could the defence have done better (please read this as not blinded love for Kasper but looking at the bigger picture). The hope has to be that we receive an offer that we "can't" turn down for him from some "big" team.
StanSP Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 The hope has to be that we receive an offer that we "can't" turn down for him from some "big" team. And you'd be happy as Hamer as a replacement because I can't see us getting anyone better in for a reasonable price.
Guest Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 And you'd be happy as Hamer as a replacement because I can't see us getting anyone better in for a reasonable price. Not particularly but I think we can get a replacement in the window, if not someone permanent then a top team reserve goalie on loan. I wouldn't want Hamer as first choice, he's a good second choice keeper for us, sadly Kasper isn't proving to be a good first choice keeper either ( and he wouldn't accept being our second choice). Kasper is a great shot stopper and that deflects from his weaknesses. Wally was never classed as a top keeper but he did the job in an unassuming way. I'd love a Wallington type at the moment.
ealingfox Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Hamer's been a better keeper than Schmeichel since the start of last season. Same number of clean sheets in the Championship last season (18) playing for a far worse side. He looked a little bit dodgy in the first half against Stoke but that was purely down to nerves rather than lack of ability. He came out confident in the second half and smashed it. Hamer IN.

I don't know if he is better but we need to change things at the back and they are different style goalkeepers. I think it's worth a go.
Biggus Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Have to agree. Two goals yesterday scored in the 6 yard box. Kasper does not command it. He is one of the two changes I think need to be made to fix us defensively. Hamer did a better job of this vs Stoke, so I would bring him in.
LCFCFOX6190 Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Remember when people on here/twitter were saying he was our most important 'signing'?
johnny the fox Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Lets not get carried away.. he has an issue with not coming off his line and commanding his area..yes, that combined with the lack of a big mouthed, big character centre half who is tall enough to win most things in the air means we have an issue.. this has been spotted by other teams at this level.. but it can be remedied and worked on.... Im amazed a City player can go from hero to zero so quickly with fans on here.

bovril Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 All I can add is that he's a solid-bottom-half-of-the-Premiership keeper and he's not the reason we are where we are. If we were around mid table we wouldn't be having this conversation.
johnny the fox Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Still? You've been here since 2010! His dad is one of the greatest who has ever lived.... Im sure he will be having an input with this issue.. faith and a "fair suck of the sauce bottle" seems an alien concept to our fickle fans..
willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 I started a thread about his poor distribution, ive never been a fan of his, seems to much of a ''lets blame someone else for the mistake'' type for me. poor positioning for corners and free kicks, poor distribution most of the time and not as good as he thinks he is.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Kasper is a great shot stopper and it's what we need. Blame our defence in general and not the keeper, who is put under a huge amount of pressure by the amount of defending we do
glen parva fox Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 Have to agree. Not big enough for the prem
fleckneymike Posted 30 November 2014 Posted 30 November 2014 The reason we're currently bottom isn't down to Kaspar. We went 5 games without scoring, we spurned three glorious chances yesterday and paid the price. Unless we begin converting our chance we will continue to languish at the bottom.
