Ian S Posted 5 December 2014 Posted 5 December 2014 - Won League One - Penalty shootout away from a play-off final with virtually the same League One squad - Leaves - Comes back to a steaming pile of shit left by Mr Eriksson. - One penalty away from a play-off final, having cleared up most of the mess. - Wins the league with 102pts, breaking several records. I think we owe to him to give him the season unless it's falling apart at the seams, and I don't think it is. Spot on
sdb Posted 5 December 2014 Posted 5 December 2014 I do want NP to stay, but he's doing himself very few favours at the mo. I think the best way to look at it from my perspective is that managers have a certain amount of lives. NP had about 10 seven or eight weeks ago. He was in the clear, God, our saviour. Regardless of how our season went from there, I was never-doubting in my support for him. It wouldn't waver. Pretty much every game since Utd has seen those lives chipped away at, bar perhaps the Sunderland draw/Liverpool or maybe QPR games. That takes him down to 3 or 4 max... The comments towards a fan on Tuesday were unacceptable, however much of a clown that spectator was/is. NP should know better. Another life lost, rightly or wrongly. Now he's refusing to apologise, which worries me more. I think Sunday could be the final straw if we lose. I'd be surprised if he were kept on and amazed should we lose the next 2/3 and he's still here. I want him to remain at lcfc - long term I think he's the best option for the club. But I feel self-destruction mode has begun now and it's only a matter of time.
Mark_w Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I like having this at the top of the page, it reminds me that the vast majority aren't stupid.
ScouseFox Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 into even money to leave now btw, huge favourite. doesn't mean a great deal but those who've got faith in the owners like some in this thread could make a dollar laying that on betfair
BlueJoe Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Surprised this poll is still so one sided... Need at least another 5 losses before this bunch wake up and smell the championship!!!
Dawko Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Sven gave this Club a much needed lift and hope for the future. We need something similar again at the moment.
Grewks Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Surprised this poll is still so one sided... Need at least another 5 losses before this bunch wake up and smell the championship!!! Nige got us out of the championship... He deserved every chance to keep us up. No other manager should be given a premier league job, especially one which has taken pearson two promotions to get.
Dan Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I'm still voting for stay, but he ain't half pushing it.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Got to go now surely? Even the most blinkered fan can see that now?
Mark_w Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Got to go now surely? Even the most blinkered fan can see that now? Nope. I can't.
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Best manager since MON one day, dole queue the next to some people. Madness.
Donut Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I really dont know. I think theres got to be at least half an eye on preparing for next season in the championship now. Its going to be impossible to get players in of significant quality and bed them in fast enough for them to have huge impact id have thought. Pearson has a track record of getting teams in and around the playoffs and automatic spots, thats in his favour. The squad needs to be rebuilt too to a degree. Wasilewski, Nugent, Hammond, Konchesky...........all rapidly depreciating assets. I wish someone could help Nige out behind the scenes more than anything. An experienced figure who can offer some input. A Ray Wilkins type character (not ACTUALLY suggesting Ray Wilkins just making an example) who can advise on the more subtle details of tactical set ups, approaches to games. I think thres been a huge amount of naivety in our play at times and maybe that would help, moreso than swapping Pearson for Pulis. Stick with Pearson, just about.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Nope. I can't.He hasn't got a clue at this level Mark
Mark_w Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 He hasn't got a clue at this level Mark So 15 games is enough to decide if someone is incapable of managing at this level? You don't think that's a bit ridiculous?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 So 15 games is enough to decide if someone is incapable of managing at this level? You don't think that's a bit ridiculous? Our need to stay in this division is paramount. If we has 2 or 3 seasons for NP to tinker and try and get it right we might be ok. We haven't got that time available
ithuriel Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Said I would give him these past games and we just look pure relegation candidates. I keep hoping he will turn it around but it is not happening.
MC Prussian Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Our need to stay in this division is paramount. If we has 2 or 3 seasons for NP to tinker and try and get it right we might be ok. We haven't got that time available Most of all, us getting back to a solid financial basis without fearing bankruptcy is paramount. The conglomerate that is backing the club is here for the long run, or so they've declared it publicly. We break the bank now in order to get excellent, but expensive talent as a short-term fix and the owners are most likely faced with a heavy FFP fine. Are they willing to take that risk, given the fact that they already burnt their fingers heavily once before with Eriksson? And why do we need to stay in this division? We've got to earn our right to do so, if we can't, so be it. It's plain to see the players are trying their best to overcome the odds week in, week out. The desire and willingness are there. We've usually lost by one goal only, so we can't be that far off. With a couple of decent additions, we'll surely be able to move up the table again.

Two decent additions is going to make all the difference? Its become tiring..and boring
MC Prussian Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 You're still at i see... Two decent additions is going to make all the difference? Its become tiring..and boring I never said anything about "two decent additions" - "a couple of" can mean "a few", too. IMO The only boring thing is you replying to anything substantial that I write, without giving your two penneth, buddy.
benpicko Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 So 15 games is enough to decide if someone is incapable of managing at this level? You don't think that's a bit ridiculous? I'm unsure of whether you think we're going to stay up or whether you just really, really like Pearson at this point. You don't find it ludicrous that despite currently being on a run of 10 without a win, a very similar situation to when we went from 2nd place to winning 2 in 16 in the league below this one, you turn up after every match, vehement in your assurances that Pearson's a fantastic manager? At which point does he actually approach becoming incapable of managing at this level, at this point in time, for us? We're rock bottom after those 15 matches and don't look to be turning it around. This isn't about allowing him the season to prove whether or not he's a Premier League manager at this point, it's about trying our best to keep us in the league because we don't have the points right now to do that. Saying that, I'm pretty confident he'll go nowhere and I'm hoping he does turn it around in the transfer market

The Doctor Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Got to go now surely? Even the most blinkered fan can see that now? Why? We're struggling a bit now, but that doesn't mean he needs to go - no matter who we had in charge, we'd have struggled this season, that's what happens when you come up, particularly with a relatively inexperienced curve. Every time people say he reached his level, he's proven them wrong. I reckon this will happen again - we're not far off now anyway, we're competitive but naive in most matches, and that naivety is costing us.
cuddly ken Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I've had NP worked out for ages, always said he was clueless tactically but always got abuse for not buying into the NP love in. Same with a lot of the players, I said from day one that Moore, Was, Morgan, RDL, James, Knocky, Schlupp, to name but a few weren't good enough to step up to Premiership level. Ironic that the one player who has shown he can play against top strikers at International level was bombed out by NP, who then brought Upson in! NP and his staff got themselves big contracts as did many mediocre players, which now leaves us in a mess, plus it will cost our owners big money to get rid. What a shambles!
josh_baskin Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 All the people saying stay are probably the same people who voted in a poll for Martin Allen to be the city manager all those years back, to which Milan responded!
