This incident actually appears to have increased his popularity with a lot of us. I and many others are sick of hearing people attack the team and accuse them of not trying.

It was poorly worded but Pearson's reaction reflects a similar feeling to a quite a few on here.

It hasn't swayed mine. I wouldn't like my opinion to be influenced one way or the other by two people who should be able to control their emotions yelling at each other, I'd prefer to judge a manager on his record and his progress. From the manager's perspective it was either unprofessional and injudicious, the actions of a man cracking under pressure, or a clever ploy to stoke emotions among his players. But by defending actions which were clearly a bit silly, or trying to justify them, we're just adding to the debate rather than letting it blow over.

Pearson has probably reflected the views of some people on here (I can't say telling someone to '**** off and die', if that's right, is an accurate reflection of my views on any given matter, but if that's the perfect articulation of your thoughts and feelings then fair enough). But I've never felt that Foxestalk is a very realistic representation of what City fans think, to be honest. Generally speaking - and as much as people are at each other's throats - the opinions are considered, compared to those you tend to get in bars and on the terraces. Elsewhere, and even on other forums, the weight of opinion will tip in the other direction.

I suspect our next result and performance will go a long way towards deciding where the scales settle. And, who knows, it may even help sway the outcome of the club's 'investigation', one way or the other. But I'd prefer to judge our manager on how he does his job, rather than being influenced by nonsense like this. And if you love his actions, then as far as I'm concerned you're as daft as those who say he shud be sacked yeh cus he reckons us fans r shit, and so on so forth.

You've exaggerated what I said there. I consider this to be a pretty trivial incident. It just made me smile when I heard he reacted in the way he did as it shows he dislikes that negative crowd as much as me. That's it. It certainly hasn't "swayed me" in any major way. I also stated quite clearly that it was "poorly worded" so thanks for ignoring that in your attempts to make out that I was an unpleasant person.

In a nutshell, if all you want to just sit and moan, have a go at the team or Pearson then stay at home and watch it on T.V, because you're a penis and not wanted.

Right close thread.

The fan tried to provoke and wind up because supporters believe they have entitlement to do what they want as they've paid their money and managers/ players should put up with any old shit slung their way because "the customer is always right". It's not a football problem uniquely, it's a societal problem.

Unfortunately for the guy Pearson wasn't prepared to let it drop and had a go back. Put up with it or don't try and provoke in future. Simple really.

I don't think I've heard anybody say he's or they are not trying.

I think you will find that even his most hardened supporters admit he's getting it wrong, and it's nothing to do with the effort of the players, it that many have been found out, and it's a division to high, the lack of effort is something Pearson accused the fan of (1).

Quality is our issue, not effort, hard work was only going to get us so far, and is hard to maintain that energy for a season.

Do we know the fans intention was to provoke him, or was he just venting frustration out loud, and Pearson heard it, and reacted.

I haven't seen any of the video, and don't know the fan in question, or witnessed it.

So many people who wasn't witness to it are defending Pearson blindly, and making assumptions that the fan wanted to provoke him.

I think before people comment on what happened, they either needed to be there, or be Pearson or the fan, before casting assumptions.

I am sure the truth will come out to prevent every body quessing what either parties motives were.

I completely agree. You could see it against Liverpool. The lads ARE trying. The Premiership is a tough tough division. Effort and quality are what you need. The former we have in abundance, the latter we are short of.

Shouting him and his staff are getting sacked was just one thing that has been mentioned, so I'd say that's something to provoke for starters. If you believe those on twitter who said they were there the bloke had "been trying to get bite".

I very much doubt he was politely shouting "Nigel I don't agree with 4-4-2", "Bring on Knockaert Nigel he might mate a difference".

I'm trying to see it from both sides, all this been mentioned, he said etc is all hear say I guess.

The only people that really know what started it and what was said, and the intentions, I would say are the people involved, Pearson and the fan.

Chinese whispers are a very dangerous things, like Pearson allegedly saying to the fan, **** off and die, did it happen?, if it didn't Pearson is going to lose alot of fans, and get a bad press, and it was probaly not said.

It's all guess work, and shit stirring in the press and social media, and until the real facts come out, it needs people to stop added the things they heard, from their nans, gran's, aunt.

Very mature of you, just the sought of thing decent people say to someone.

If it's true that this chap had been trying to get on his back for a few minutes then I can forgive a fairly constrained response like that. As a professional he still shouldn't have said it of course and left it to one of the better supporters to have a strong word with him.

Fully deserved after calling him a 'twat' in my opinion.

Probably some bellend who's only bothered turning up for the Liverpool game.

Not the most professional response from Pearson but if you can't take it, don't dish it out.

Nicely set up by someone to try and make Pearson look the bad guy.

I've watched the longer video Pearson was certainly getting a lot more abuse and for longer than that little clip.

Maybe he shouldn't have said the "die" bit but I definitely agree with him telling the bloke to F off.

Just seen that cliff ginnetta says that lcfc fans want an apology from NP. Well cliff if you're on this forum I for one don't give a flying fcuk about an apology. You certainly don't speak for me.
