Stadt Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Why? When chasing a game hoofing the ball up the field towards a side containing two outfield players taller than 6'0 ft is quite obviously not going to work. To break a side like that down you need to stretch the play with good movement or players drawing the opposition out of their shape by running at them - easy to defend against hoofs aren't going to turn a game around.
theessexfox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Yeah it's a sign of no ideas, couple of times we worked off second balls but that's the only possible advantage of that.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 This is why I think nugent should play as we can't play passing football with ulloa in the team
Tuna Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 We'll struggle back in the championship next season at this rate.
ScouseFox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 it's a mixture of lack of ability and lack of ideas, topped off with a large lack of confidence. it's a bloody deadly mixture.
lgfualol Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Why does Pearson let them do it? It never ever ****ing works for us
Stadt Posted 7 December 2014 Author Posted 7 December 2014 This is why I think nugent should play as we can't play passing football with ulloa in the teamI was talking about the second half when Ulloa was off the pitch, don't let your agenda get in the way of the fact Ulloa looks like the only player we've got that can score.
Monsell1976 Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Lack of quality, composure, and confidence on the ball.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 We do it based on how we play. Too little comes through the middle
Sunbury Fox Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 That's because we should be playing 3 in the midfield. It's so obvious.
Kitchandro Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 This is probably the most disappointing thing of all. In fact, it's the main reason we've gone so downhill. I knew when we came up that our defence had weaknesses. But I had faith in our style of play, because I knew we could score goals and we had some good players. Pearson has negated all of those positive things and it's only heaped pressure on our weaknesses. I could understand people saying we haven't improved because our signings haven't been good enough. But we need to look at, first and foremost, why we're so much worse than last season. For me, it's quite straightforward. We've stopped played positive football and taking the game to the opposition. We stopped passing it/pressing with tempo. We've sat back and surrendered the momentum.
Kitchandro Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 That's because we should be playing 3 in the midfield. It's so obvious. Not necessarily. It's certainly not the difference between passing it and hoofing it.
Spiritwalker Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 For some reason we make every team we play look like Barcelona, even shit ones like Villa.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 That's because we should be playing 3 in the midfield. It's so obvious. Not to everyone...
cc_star Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Can't get much joy down the middle because most Prem sides have midfielders breaking play up in front of the defence and instead use their fullbacks as out & out attackers, this means we need to play down the wings but with Schlupp we've got less than no chance and with Mahrez being great 50% of time and woeful the other 50% we've not got much joy down there either Of course, we could always match the opposition and play more men in the middle, but this obvious solution is eluding Nigel
cc_star Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 For some reason we make every team we play look like Barcelona, even shit ones like Villa. Because we're incredibly easy to play against... We must be the best team for accumulators in the while country - Just back our opposition every single week. Easy!
foxinsocks Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 As soon as I say what I think (Aimless hoofing... chris wood is no impact sub)... he will start scoring...
Fox Ulike Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Not necessarily. It's certainly not the difference between passing it and hoofing it. It is. When you play 442 the idea is that you bypass the midfield by lumping it from defence to attack, thereby taking advantage of your numerical advantage further up the pitch and out wide. The problem is that its a shite idea
Corky Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 We are a nervous side who don't want to take risks. A hoof is a simple pass, the easy option. When you are struggling you panic and the players are currently doing that.
Rialto 290352 Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 The real weakness is the midfield. Evidence of this is the consistent lack of possession we have at this level. Also evidence of this is the aimless hoofing upfield. We must strengthen this area of the team. Urgently need two good central midfield players who can gain and keep possession then set up attacks. Pressure has to be taken off what is an only barely adequate defense. Hard to judge the attack as so little is created!
orangecity23 Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 As soon as I say what I think (Aimless hoofing... chris wood is no impact sub)... he will start scoring... Better say it then, might as well start employing sod's law in our favour. :xmaslaugh:
Dan Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Our passing is utterly dreadful. Embarrassing almost. We play as much hoofball as Stoke did.
Grewks Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Because pearson obviously tells them "Lads, give the ball away for 90 minutes, reducing the chance of us winning, because i obviously want to lose my job". we had a similar problem during our winless run a couple of years ago. But let us not kid ourselves. Last season we were not some kind of 'Swansea'. We were a side which was built on hard work and percentages....but were fortunate to have more quality than the rest of the league.
Dickov22 Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 Can't remember it working since we had Steve Howard ( when he was good). We did it against Liverpool too. Embarrassing
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 December 2014 Posted 7 December 2014 We aimlessly hoof because we have no composure and no control. Babs was right in the match thread. There's no triangles going on, unless you consider a gap of about 30yards a triangle. There's little give and go, the only one who does this is Cambiasso really, and it's so much more dangerous in the final third. It can really impact there. Our passing today was woeful. That's usually indicative of a side that knows the opposition is better in my experience.
