Kitchandro Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Sorry but why is Nugent such a poor player. He has scored 51 goals in 147 games for us which is better than 1 in 3. Has any other striker over the last ten years even come close to that ratio. Fryatt scored 51 in 168 games. So the argument about him not scoring goals is absolutely ridiculous. In addition, he has played as a support striker and wrapped up so many assists from this position. In addition, he has an excellent work rate and uses the ball well. Do people just hate him because he is that good. I don't understand Well at this level it isn't, that was his first from open play this season
Fox92 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Well at this level it isn't, that was his first from open play this season I just don't think he's a goalscorer. His work rate and link up play is brilliant, even you must see that.

I don't understand Many said he would not be good enough for us in the prem....and thus far they have been proved correct. 1 goal in open play in 20 games is not good enough. Don't give me this..."Well he plays as a support striker" nonsense. Mahrez and Schlupp play as wide men in a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 and both play much deeper yet every single game look far more threatening going forward, and both have more goals and assists this season.
Grewks Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 I just don't think he's a goalscorer. His work rate and link up play is brilliant, even you must see that. It isn't that great at all though in all honesty.

Can you drop the 20 games thing because he's played nothing like 20 games. If your going to use statistics to back your argument up at least use them correctly
Fox92 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 It isn't that great at all though in all honesty. What isn't? His goalscoring record?
shailen Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Well firstly, he has started 10 games and come on as a sub in 7. He has scored two goals and one assist. Not prolific I know, but he isn't exactly playing up front. He is playing a support striker role. Vardy hasn't exactly got a better record, WHY isn't he getting slated as much? Personally, I do not want this but it does beg the question to whether Nugent is just being made a scapegoat,

Yeah possibly I forgot how good he was in the United game, 1 goal and 4 assists it was I believe. Point was I'm not having a go at Vardy, it's just I don't get the hate for Nuge.
milney2i3 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Did anybody not watch today's match and brill goal he scored!!! Must have been a fluke
whoareyaaa Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 made me laugh its the first time i've heard of a dish being used a reference to a head.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 According to Grewks Vardy has won us more points...... despite Nugent playing in nearly every game we've taking points from. Mostly because he's not very bright. Surely I can't be the only one to see that?
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Mostly because he's not very bright. Surely I can't be the only one to see that? http://blueandamber.proboards.com/ Pretty sure a few lads will be sympathetic to your pov on there.
Heskey2011 Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 first touch finishing nuge is exceptional, at almost evrything else he's poor. Perfect impact player for me.
sdb Posted 1 January 2015 Posted 1 January 2015 Class today. Him behind Vardy is a very handy combination. Ulloa scores the goals unfortunately, because we look a lot more fluid without him.
TomOliver_1990 Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/97386-but-he-was-our-top-scorer-last-season/page-9 Last post on that page....... Massively rate the guy, nice to see people getting behind him for once, even if it is just for a few days until everyone says he's sh*te again.
Jace Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Have to admit I've never been a Nugent fan but I'm changing my mind more and more this season that he could 1 of the most key players if we are going to succeed in staying up
shailen Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Footballing intelligence - he will bring the best out of other players.
Dan Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Funnily enough I thought up until his goal he looked poor, but after that excellent. You cannot argue with the results with both him and Dean Hammond in the side.
Richard Posted 2 January 2015 Posted 2 January 2015 Good player, especially in that no.10 role, and a no.10 shouldn't be judged on his goalscoring
