Little Thai babies seem to cope quite well. Our pair were raised in foreign climes and made it out in one piece.

The biggest argument against taking infants and toddlers on flights is to relieve other passengers from suffering eight hours of screams, tears, shit and vomit.

Yup exactly this.

Weve travelled extensively, we know what these places are like on the ground. Thailand is probably the most safe and hygienic country we've travelled long haul to.

On the second point I really don't care lol

I go to Vialmoura which is a nice upmarket location with good Restaurants and Marina and 6 Golf Courses within 10 minutes from the centre.

Vilamoura itself is only 30 minutes from the Airport which is nice because you're not spending hours getting there.

Prices are good you can still get a Coffee for a pound and Beer and Wine similar. A meal for 2 with a drink 20 to 50 if you shop around a little.

Have you been to Portugal before. ?

No I haven’t but my son went to Porto and Lisbon, which he said are quite a lot different apparently.
That sounds the sort of place I’d like, amongst a few others.
Thanks for the info 👍

I haven't been to Porto yet but I know someone who is from there. They said it's a lovely city with lots of Architure etc if you're into that.

I been to Lisbon a few times, Again it's a big city and spread out. It has a few Beech area's but you're on the Alantic so very cold a lot of the time.

The Algarve is on the Mediterranian so much warmer with a lot of Golden sandy Beeches.  The Algarve streches from The Spanish Border in the east to Cape St Vincent the most westerly point in Europe to the West. A total Distance of about 150 miles. It's that bit all across the bottom of a Map of Portugal.

It has over 300 days of Sunshine a year and not much rain. April May and Sept Oct are the best Months to visit Temps 20 to 28 Deg. as the Summer gets too hot for us 30 to 40 Degrees.

Think of the Algarve as 2 long Roads running parallel to each other and Parallel to the Sea. 1 is the old main road N125 acrross the Algarve and the other is the new Motorway A22

The Motorway was tolled but they've just removed the Tolls on it. So it's free to use know I believe.

All the resorts are at right angles to the 2 roads which will take you towards the Coast and into any resort you're going too.

The one thing I would recommend is hiring a Car which not only makes it easier to get around but also as cheap as a couple of Taxis back and forth from the Airport.

But they do drive on the other side of the Road so you need to keep your wits about you when driving.

Vilamoura is considered an upmarket resort with the Multimillion pd Yachts in the Marina and it also has a big Casino. Quarteria is 5 minutes away by Car and has a 1.5 mile prominade to walk or Jog along the Beech. It also has the biggest Water Park in the Algarve there and the largest Market in the Algarve is on every Wednesday.

Albuferia would be another big resort popular with Brits but is quite spread out whereas Vilamoura is very concentrated, Your minutes from everywhere.

Any questions feel free to ask away.

I'm sure you will enjoy it all. You can get a train from Porto to Lisbon and on to the Algarve and it's very cheap. Especially if you book it a week or more in advance. Less than 50 I believe for 2 people.

I've never done it myself because we usually drive everywhere and stop wherever we like along the way.

Enjoy.

If you go to Porto, make sure you get a Francesinha. It’s a sandwich with a filling of sausage, ham, steak, salami etc, with cheese toasted on top and served in a beer and tomato sauce, it’s the most mental thing you’d ever eat. It’s an amazing city, there’s some decent beaches a 20 minute tram ride away too.

Booked Cape Town. Long time on the to do list

In June, so obvs winter down there. But I'm told still plenty to do and hotels/restaurants have cheaper deals

How was your trip and did you enjoy going during their winter. We're looking to book this year and a bit unsure about what time of year to go.

Any tips/suggestions would be great!

Has anyone been to Lisbon and Porto? Looking at going to one for a short holiday but unsure which. Cheers

Went to Lisbon for a stag and it seemed like it would be class for a weekend with the missus. Loads of great looking places for food and drink but then Porto also looks really good too

I preferred Porto to Lisbon, we found Lisbon a bit too busy.

Berlin booked for June - I tell you (I didn't book them as they were so expensive) but I think Easyjet nearly has the perfect flight times on Friday-Monday for a weekend away for Birmingham to Berlin.

Was looking last night for somewhere to take the kids the last week of August (unfortunately only time me and the Mrs can both get off this summer holidays) but begrudge paying 3K for a week beach holiday in a shit-hole or £1500 for a half decent caravan in a ridiculously busy holiday park.

So I looked at City Breaks instead, cheapest option was comfortably Hamburg so booked 4 nights there. Kids are 8 and 4 and will be the first time we've taken them abroad for a City break.

Looks to be some reasonable kid friendly stuff, miniatur wonderland looks ace, but any suggestions for family friendly bars and restaurants would be handy. Probably not the Reeperbahn I'd guess lol
