Sri Lanka seemed to get lots of positives a few pages back.

I'm going next Jan/Feb for a bit of cricket. Elephants there too !

I'm also looking at going to Sri Lanka in Jan/Feb next year as England are due to tour for 3 ODI and 3 T20 matches.

Problem is that dates/venues have not yet been announced. Do you have any idea as to when the dates will be confirmed? Grateful for any info.

Off to Cavtat on Saturday with the girlfriend. Wanting to do a day in Montenegro, possibly Kotor unless someone has a better recommendation?

Thinking about renting a car so we're not on any particular time schedule. Anybody driven in that part of the world? Although we're both confident drivers there's always that slight worry about driving abroad

Kotor is a very good choice. A stop off in Herceg Novi may be.

My memory was that driving was fine - roads good quality and not that busy - just the occasional continental hot head.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should stop planning and booking anything. I missed Egypt/Pyramids and Petra in Oct 2023 due to the war breaking out. Rebooked for April 2025, cancelled due to them still being at war. Instead, I booked a trip which included a week in India, who are now at war....

And, I'm a bit concerned about the USA, Columbia, Panama trip.

On top of my previous China, Japan, India Covid cancellation and the Trump/Cuba cancelled debacle, I'm starting to think it's me :(

What do you mean cancelled? Flights have continued to these places, not during covid of course. No one is going to cancel flights to the USA anytime soon so you will be fine.

Also how were you able to re-book flights for April 2025, in Oct 2023?! Thought airlines only released tickets for max a year in advance???

It wasn't flight cancellations. In Oct 23 we sailed from Italy to South Africa but weren't allowed to dock in either Egypt or Jordan. We rebooked another cruise, Dubai to Le Havre, in Dec 2023 for April 2025 to try again, but the cruise was cancelled as you can't traverse the Suez canal.

I don't have the flights for the USA booked yet, and isn't the issue, they are behaving 'oddly' to incoming visitors, apparently. That's just the start point of the trip, but Columbia has just had travel warnings added, too. And, Donald wants to take over the Panama Canal....

i was in Kotor last week. It is a superb place. The old town is beautiful. Can get a bit crowded with cruise ship passengers but they tend to just mill around the main sites so it's not hard to lose them. Decent prices too. Beer mainly 3 - 5 euro depending on location and a decent dinner around 15 - 20 euro.

I didn't drive but the road from the airport to Kotor was rammed with traffic. I'm sure you'll be fine with driving - just take your time.

Ohhhhh it's a cruise, well then you are the problem lol, you are willingly booking a cruise!! Joking, I've never been on a cruise but couldn't resist the open goal joke.

White British passport holders (if you are one) will be fine in the USA, it's probably happy clappers scaremongering. I work in an office where there is frequent travel to the States and we have been given no advice to stop. Colombia is tricky. Panama Canal is unique and fun, you should defo do it.

I am going to Jordan in July, will be good to see Petra before that entire region is flattened.

I'm currently planning our excursions for our Caribbean and central America cruise in November, thankfully we leave from the Dom Rep so we don't touch the States.

We have Panama and Colombia in our itinerary too, Panama we're going to book the canal excursion with the ship for once, and Colombia we dock in Cartagena so we're hoping it's relatively safe and we can do our own thing. I'm more worried about Belize tbh  But looking forward to it all nonetheless

Correct. We're certainly limiting our domestic travel to states where we are willing to spend our money, but no observable issues with traveling due to anything like this.

First I've heard of this, including from family who work for the airlines and regularly fly internationally. Some airports are dealing with infrastructure issues right now due to runway works, but international flights aren't at risk.

I've been a couple of times and it's worth a day out. Lots of history and it's a generally chilled out place. Most of the towns in that part of Spain are worth a visit I'd say.

El Rocio with it's sand roads is well worth a visit as well as it's so odd.

See, I said it could be me lol And, this doesn't cover the 3 times I've not been to Abu Dhabi...

It was a few reports on cruise forums with regard to the odd incoming passenger reception. No suggestion of flights stopped, just difficulties when entering. That trip isn't until next year, I'm sure it'll be fine by then!

p.s. can you let me have some Petra photos...mean to be nice

We are also Cartagena so, hoping it will be fine too. We sail through the Panama Canal (hopefully) and looking forward to that, then onto Alaska.

I can't comment on Belize, that was on my Cuba itinerary that Trump cancelled!

Had some of my best travelling experiences in Belize.

We were bumming it though.

Yeh man will do, not too bothered about the trip but figured I should float in the Dead Sea and see Petra before that region is lost.
Harsh on Abu Dhabi! Worth seeing if you do get the chance, really fun partying and restaurant scene if that’s your thing. Like dubai but without all the Europeans making the place soulless and corporate
