With regards to cabin sized backpacks, I’d recommend the company Cabin Max. Their bags are all on Amazon. I’ve had this one for years (but they have loads of different designs and sizes), when it first arrived I thought it would be flimsy but it’s surprisingly strong. One of the clips for the handles broke a couple of years ago but I just emailed the company and they sent me a replacement clip for free.

I second Cabin Max. Me and the wife have a 10kg cabin one and a under seat bag each.

Cabin Max are pretty well known now so they don't ever get checked for sizing as the staff must know they are fine :)

Yes, I’ve managed to do a long weekend trip with only underseat baggage and not had to pay for extra baggage with my Cabin Max a few times. It’s surprisingly roomy and you can fit 3-4 days of clothing in there. Never had it checked either and always fits under the seat in front.

Agreed! I've done two weeks away with the 10kg one and more recently Iceland for 3 nights with the under seat bag.

I'm trying to figure out where to book a holiday for next year, we can only do 7 days at a time because we have a dog and although he goes to the parents, we don't want to burden them or the dog.

I've realised since my recent trip to Paris, I just love France, good food, good wine,  but want to do more of a summer holiday thing, we will have my 15 year old daughter. I never know where to start with holidays in France, anyone have any suggestions?

What about Eurocamp? I've taken my children on some lovely holidays in France over the years with them. The accommodation can be anything from fairly basic to pretty luxury depending on the site and your budget, it's really not camping ;)

I’m sold, wife not convinced. What areas can you recommend?

We've done Brittany, lovely area but the weather can be a bit iffy, very similar to the south of the UK unsurprisingly! The Vendee which is a bit further south but better weather, the Loire valley which is inland but lovely scenery and great food, and my favourite was probably the south of France at Port Grimaud, it's like Venice and set along a series of canals, and just across the bay from St Tropez

Yep, I’ve been. When I was 19. Pleasant enough square, pretty river. Standard Central European city. Nothing of great value.

I stayed there - barrel of laughs 🤣

Toruń nearby is supposedly a lot better and Gdańsk is 90 minutes away on a train.

One for the holiday snobs lol I go on a 2-week all inclusive to Benalmadena tomorrow. Fully expecting Haven in Spain but as long as the kids are happy and I have access to beer, I'm good

Will try and get to Malaga for the day.

No judgement here mate, your kids will likely have a brilliant time.
When I was a kid, it was a campsite, normally in the rain, in the middle of nowhere 😂

Benalmadena is lovely! The beach is beautiful, and the weather now is gorgeous. If you make it out the resort the cable car is worth the ride for the views, and the castle is small but very cute

Benalmadena pueblo, or town, the old part just inland from the beach resort, is very pretty.

Malaga is definitely worth a day out, hope you have a lovely holiday whatever you do!

Mate, I reckon holidays are different to travelling.

A family break, in the sun, beers, beach burgers and a pool. Happy Days.

Get the train to Torremuelle and go for a nice authentic Spanish meal at Restaurante Lucena II.

Really nice low key local restaurant. Bit of a walk from the station to the bottom of the hill (could drive / taxi) but worth it. Couple of nice small low key beaches / sea access as well.

Off to Arizona next week. Several nights in both Scottsdale and Sedona. Sadly, no golf in Scottsdale on this trip. Great scenery and some scorching heat await.

Haven't heard of it but surely you can't go wrong in Spain. You're taking your family on holiday, sounds like you're winning at life to me mate. Enjoy!

Second this.   Went to French Rivera last summer and visited Port Grimaud,  Nice, Monaco and Fresjus.   Cannes, St Tropez and Eze all are in the region as well.  It was a very enjoyable holiday.

I'm off to Sri Lanka in October for 2 weeks on my honeymoon. I know a few people on here have been recently... Any recommendations/tips/do's/don'ts would be greatly appreciated. Haven't done a huge amount of research yet!
