In the photos we took, we were wearing winter coats, but I don´t think it gets too cold in Rome.

A quick search says average max of 13C and average min of 5C in December. October looks a good time to visit: longer days, max/min 22/12C.

Thanks, yeah it all depends on how the cold feels, here in Spain my winter coat comes out at about 22 degrees lol October sounds perfect though

So I know we have some Netherlands experts on here and I'm currently trying to persuade my balkan girlfriend who's sceptical of anywhere in continental Europe north west of Vienna that it'd make a good trip in September.

Would love a sleepy town with pretty architecture, canals, some nice cafes and possible day trips. Is that too much to ask for? Oh, and relatively accessible from London by train. Ain't gettin on no plane

We did Utrecht in October and had a great time. Eurostar to Brussels then train or Flixbus. Day trip to Amersfoort was good too.

Cruise ship means few FORCED costs...  but it would be remiss not to try the local fodder

Two weeks and im off to Iceland

Went in November and despite slipping and breaking my ribs 2 days in, it was still one of my favourite holidays.

Another +1 for Iceland. Can’t speak about it from a cruise perspective, but the scenery and splendor once you got away from the heavy traffic areas, unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had, too.

Currently just over half way through my US World Cup trip and having a great time.

Boston- brilliant city, looking forward to going back tomorrow.

Houston- Bizarre, only really went for NASA and our tours were all cancelled due to storms. Strange city, wouldn’t recommend it.

Dallas- Similar to Houston but a bit more about it, helped that England played there and I had I great time for that. The stockyards in Fort Worth are great.

Terlingua- in the middle of the desert which boarders Mexico. Cool place, incredibly remote and insane view after insane view. Would thoroughly recommend this if you are into hiking, I couldn’t do any of that as I got food poisoning and it was 40 degrees.

Austin- incredible city. Live musicians playing for free everywhere and the bars down 6th street are brilliant.

Back to Boston tomorrow, then Cape Cod for a couple of days before finishing in NYC.

Solid itinerary, agree with you on the Texas report, too. Visit a Buc-ees if you have the chance before you head back north. Can’t really explain it, it just has to be experienced. Bring your appetite.

Was just in Massachusetts on Friday, weather was perfect. If you like beer, visit one of the Tree House Brewing locations once you’re back in Boston- there’s a small outpost on Cape Cod, and a pop up location at Faneuil Hall.

Buc’ees blew my mind, loved it and bought so much shit 😂. There were foreigners just walking round in a daze.

Ah nice one, I think I saw this brewery at the hall so I’ll grab a beer there. Was scorching when we were there 10 days or so ago!

That sounds really cool! Shame about Houston. I’ve liked it when I’ve gone. Loads going on due to the oil industry wealth. But that proper American divide with loads of crime downtown and areas with living standards akin to the 3rd world. I thought the same about Dallas. Presume no time for San Antonio?

Nah unfortunately not, originally we said we would drive into it and walk the river but we haven’t got time which is a shame.

Just got back from 4 days in Cavtat near Dubrovnik. 11 Years since we first went when we paid less than a quid for a beer, we had a bit of a rude awakening this time lol such a beautiful part of the world, never felt safer. My only negative is the level of smoking out there especially when sat having a meal or a drink and suddenly the tables around you are all lighting cigarettes.

I first went in 2007 and rented a 'private room' that turned out to be basically a whole villa for about £14 a night. That was when old ladies would meet people off arriving buses offering accommodation for the night, and a two litre bottle of beer wasn't much more than a euro. Beautiful place.

And I like a cigarette with my beer in the evening but the Balkans is a little much even for me.

You know it's June 2026 now, right? You'd best start packing!

One thing to bear in mind with any cruises to Antarctica @FoxesDebit's such a short season, you do need to book early. Especially, if you like to choose a specifc good cabin. The tour package we've booked only had space for 12 more people and the ship had 2 cabins left, at the grade we've booked.

Although, if you're happy to arrange your own flights and just do an Antarctica sailing it's not as bad as HAL, Princess and Celebrity all have itineraries. But, not all go to the Antarctica fully. We're going with Azamara and have 3 Antarctica days.

I wanted to do a more comprehensive tour to include Machu Picchu, Rio etc, and didn't fancy arranging all that myself for South America so, booked the land/cruise package with the same people that we used for China and India last year.

If you are thinking a of the full expedition cruise, I'd recommend sitting down before looking at the prices :D

Left it a bit late and decided Canada in June in WC year was a bit pricey.

So I have booked flights to Albania in a weeks time. We don't have a car or any accomodation as yet. I might do that in the airport, its a shame that Ryanair don't provide WIFI or I would use my time on the flight productively!
