How was the airport? I loved it in Crete but he been put off going back by the absolute farce that is the airport.

Chania was fine. Not done Heraklion.

Got a bonus of seeing 8 Greek F16s take off from the runway too!

Just got back from a week in Crete. Lovely stuff. Locals are as hospitable as I've met anywhere in the world.

My brother in law is getting married there next year, we are staying for 10 days mid to late July, presume it will be super hot.

Just coming back from Alykes, Zakynthos. Been a few times but quite a while back, been a lovely week, weather too hot really. Stopped at Iris apartments, 2 bedroom apartment very cheap and was spacious, clean, comfortable with 2 balcony's, also with Iris bar opposite.

I was worried about food choices as there wasnt great availability last time I went, but I needn't have been. Some of the best food ive ever had, plenty of choice from you budget Gyros for lunch at €4, tomahawk pork chop for €12/€14 or proper high quality meal for 3 of us coming to around €125.

DM me if you want details for apartments as Tina who owns them is brilliant, apart from she's a Utd fan, forgot to mention, many screens in her bar guaranteed to show the football.

It was 30 pretty much all week for us. Pleasant enough with a breeze.

Off to Perranporth on Saturday with wife and young kids.

Any recommendations on activities/places to visit?

A sucker for a cornish pasty too, recommendations are welcome 😊

It's a long time since I lived in Cornwall but one attraction that remains is Lappa Valley which my children used to enjoy.  If the weather is good then Perranporth is great, the beach is really nice and there used to be surf shops/schools where children (and adults) could get lessons.

I still visit Cornwall regularly but not usually Perranporth so am no expert on the local pasty shops.  I tend to avoid the chains like Warrens and Rowe.  Sometimes you can find butchers who make pasties.

Hope you have a good holiday.

I'm there now in Cape Town, one of the best places I have been.

We're off to Cape Town for 10 days in November. Any particular highlights you'd recommend? Not booked anything yet other than flights/accom (staying in SeaPoint) but want to start getting a few things sorted.

Will have to go here next year, been meaning to visit for a while

The Green Dragon was decent for beer when i went a year ago.  Also worth a walk to Whitby brewery for a pint and pizza with nice views.

Best fish and chips we had was at a place called Fisherman's Wife.  Well worth eating in and getting a table overlooking the harbour.

Came back recently, airport wise:

Really quick through security. Real lack of seating. Toilet facilities are not pleasant. No air con so it's warm but not unbearable (it was around 30 degrees outside when I was there).

Not enough of a reason to be put off imo, Crete is such a beautiful place.

Birmingham Airport on the other hand - what a disgrace. If you're flying from there soon then be prepared for chaos.

Been Clevedon this weekend. So underrated, you’ll only get a couple of days out of the town but British seaside without the craziness. Beautiful streets with Georgian houses to part of it. While the town centre has some decent shops. Five mins off the M5. Beach is rocky but they have a marina lake there you can dip in if it’s warm.

Snowdonia is a really beautiful area

Still goes a bit under the radar nationally I think, as does much of Wales I think. I'm there pretty often but did the Traws Eryri a couple weeks ago on my bike and saw a lot I hadn't seen before.
