Pearce, Forest's legendary former captain, is leaving his post as manager following a dreadful run of results which have left the club just seven points above the Championship relegation zone. The 52-year-old was summoned for talks with Al-Hasawi on Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the home defeat to Millwall, and told his contract would be terminated. Despite a victory over Derby County a fortnight ago, Forest have won only three games from the last 23 and Pearce's position has been under threat for weeks. Al-Hasawi has been considering a change since the FA Cup defeat to Rochdale and is now looking for his sixth manager in two years. Dan Petrescu, the former Chelsea defender, is emerging as an early contender to take over at the City Ground.
