Gary Lineker

Right. And I respect him for that and his history with our club and city. Should he then be beyond criticism?

After all we know that what's gone before bears no relevance on the current predicament. Or is that just for Pearson?

The difference is that Lineker isn't employed by the club as its manager. You can criticise him if you want, but people criticising Pearson are doing so because he's our boss and they want us to stay up. I'm not really sure what Lineker is supposed to have done wrong, it's not as if what happened on Saturday was an isolated incident of our manager behaving like a schoolkid rather than a professional at the highest level.

And as for those using words like 'twat' to describe Lineker, or saying he's not a club legend, it's worth remembering that the fact we've even got a club left to argue about owes something to the crusade this man went on, which involved parting with a six figure sum, to keep us in business.

I wouldn't want people calling Pearson a 'twat' either, of course, but when a manager on course for relegation has a year like he has; throttling an opposition player, slating a rival team, throwing a paddy with local radio, yelling 'f*** off and die' at the crowd when he's getting a bit of grief from one fool in the stands and then turning on a club legend who is perfectly justified to be questioning his actions (Pearson may say it was all smiles, but McArthur has said he was genuinely scared - full credit to him for playing the whole incident down subsequently), he does bring it on himself.

The top managers in football get away with this sometimes, because they're incredibly good. When you're bottom of the Premier League in your first year, it's not so commonplace.

There was always a suspicion of people placing their love for Pearson above the club. At moments like this, seeing people turn on another guy who has done a huge amount for our club in their wildly flailing defence of the indefensible, it seems increasingly apparent. Who exactly is being ungrateful this time, MC Prussian?

I prefer the Nottingham born manager who abused one idiot and attacks opposition players myself.

Yes, because the sort of success we enjoyed in the top flight with Lineker banging in the goals (after he banged in the goals to get us there) isn't really up your street, is it?

And clearly you don't remember the immense contribution Lineker made to ensuring that we have a club which could employ Pearson in the first place.

Fvcks sake it's like North Korea with people only allowed to like Lineker and hate Pearson.

**** off anyone hating on Lineker, what a joke these ****ing Pearsonites are, either they are all 18 years old or just ****ing stupid. Learn what a Legend is, learn what a Leicester Legend is, if they both died today I know which one would get a statue. Some people will defend Pearson to the hilt, I dont hate the guy, i don't really give a **** either way on him but seriously if he turned out to be a rapist there would still be people rushing to climb up his arsrhole. A Leicester Legend is not one that won a league 1 and championship, its certainly not one that was given a chance in the prem with a wad load of cash and made the poorest possible show of it. Jesus ****ing wept people slating Lineker here, get ****ing real, this really is at joke levels, Nigel really is bigger than the club on here, he has been ****ing shit this year, a blind man can see that, yet on here people are chuffed about being relegated because tickets will be cheaper and anyway we will cone straight back up because in Nige we trust even though he's lost the plot, is letting stubborn bullishness effect his team selections and tactics and its creating a circus show by strangling players. It's like even Nige thinks he's bigger than the club and I wonder why? ****s sake. Whether nige stays or goes i don't really care because it won't change our predicament this season, but the tedium of the defenders on here is so ****ing dull. It's like a chip on the shoulders and all the vile remarks and cocky arrogant attitudes on here come from the Staunch Pearson crowd, it rears its ugly head in every thread, just the slightest criticism and up they pop calling you a thick Twat or unloyal or clueless. I genuinely havnt seen much vitriol from the out crowd. I'm in the middle on Pearson now with a lean to gettin rid but the defenders on here are a stubborn, over agressive bunch. A lot like Pearson.

Ps. Before the spelling and grammar Nazis come for me - ive typed this in a rush on my phone.

That's just it all the Pearson lovers are teen spotty chavs who this is the best they've seen.peter Taylor was better than this kids.dont believe the tripe.

I.haven't found anyone who places their 'respect' for Pearson and his achievements with the club (not to be confused with.the 'love' you speak of) above the club. Ultimately there isn't anybody who would follow the manager around the country chanting his name if he did get the sack, despite the ludicrous claims of some on here.

Have you even read some of the quotes from McArthur? Because you paint such a one sided bias in your account of Pearson there it's hard to see past what appears to be a fundamental disliking of.the bloke on your part.

I'm 19 and I prefer Nigel Pearson as a person to Gary Lineker. What do you want me to say? Shall I pretend I prefer Lineker because he's a legend, I don't see what the purpose would be.

Taylor took over a team in 8th in the Premier League and left in 20th. Pearson took over 13th in the Championship and is 20th in the Premier League.

How does that one work?

Are you kidding? Surely it's the other way round. There were people literally sobbing when they thought we'd sacked Pearson. I don't think I've ever seen such a cult following. Or it seemed like that.

The fact of the matter is that this season has become such a farce that even Gary Lineker is now getting involved. About his own bloody club! And we have people on here doing a Pearson v Lineker thing.

What a complete bloody shambles this whole thing has become.

We need or get out of this pit as soon as we can, both on and off the pitch.

Lineker is an absolute club legend but in this instance his comments haven't done the club any favours. The revelations he made were a bit below the belt and pretty unhelpful. Having said that Pearson was stupid to have a pop at them for doing what they're paid to do.

I'm not really sure how his comments have hurt the club. The club hurt itself with last night's fiasco, at least Lineker's tweet suggests a possible explanation. It almost gives the situation some sanity.

It was all rather childish from both of them but I can't see how what was said is in any way damaging.

Don't know if anyone else has made this point but Lineker's been in trouble over his Twitter conduct from his employers and taken exactly the same brash response to it as Pearson has when he has done wrong. They're both as bad as each other in that sense.

What he did today however undermined the manager and owners of the club that he supposedly supports. There was time for one of them to be the bigger man but neither could quite manage it.

This.

Do you prefer Martyn Waghorn to Lineker too?

The Cult Of Pearson. Well I miss Zingaris conspiracy theories so it's nice to have one to chuckle about again.

Everyone out to the woods in your white Reeboks and short back and sides haircut to beat wild dogs and bears up! Maybe James McArthur too

Yep.

I'd rather have Lineker in his prime playing for my football team though.

I think you'll find that what Pearson did on Saturday and what Vischai did on Sunday umdermined the manager. Vischai sacked him, one of Pearson's backroom staff leaked the news to the press, only Top's interference kept Pearson in a job and resulted in a farcical 4 hour wait for the club to release a lie and say he hadn't been sacked. He had been sacked, by the owner of the club, the ownder's son took 24 hours to talk him round. Lineker is not to blame here.

Did you not see the pictures posted last night after the news changed? The boards were plastered with the face of Nigel superimposed on Jesus. Amongst others. Chuckle all you like. I found last night very bizarre (mods, take note, no offence meant)...Nigel's popularity verges on the surreal, amongst some.

19? And you've got that many forum posts? Shouldn't you be out socialising and ****ing or something?

He is my hero, I don't think it's surreal though.
