Gary Lineker

Do you honestly believe that he was 'the leak'?

I'm referring to his tweet.

Well which reputable source said it before him?

Wonder if Pearson knows about a few of the rumours that have done the rounds about Lineker?

Remember someone replying personally to Lineker a few years back (might have been Richie Humpereys) and a couple of other players chimed in with stuff like 'go one Richie expose the fraud' etc.

Don't think Gary is too well liked outside of Leicester.

Club hero or not.  He's not very well liked by those that know him IN Leicester either.

It was after the news broke on Sky. Either way, Pearson didn't deny he'd been told he was out of a job. I'd argue that the error was in someone leading him, and the media, to believe this, or the club not knowing that the story was false soon enough to snuff out all media interest, instead of moaning about a media pundit responding to something someone else had told him.

Well, you see, it's the 'club hero' bit I'm interested. The bit where he helped get us promoted, kept us there by scoring plenty of goals, then came back and played a major role in rescuing our club. Whether someone you know likes him or not is not important.

As much as this is true (we all know about the gagging order, the string of women and the other, more horrible thing) it doesn't change anything in respect to this thread. Pretty sure Nige started this with his awful interview after the game where he could have put it to bed, MOTD rightfully speculated on it, Nige makes the petty quip and yet Linekers response is the one being judged. At the least the bloke finally gave us the facts.

Oh I'm not saying Nigel is blameless here.  I personally think that neither of them did the club many favours.  Both made comments that have only served to stir the pot.

A very disappointing few days really.

The fact that Pearson is now picking his fights with Gary Lineker really tells you a lot about just how provocative and quite intentionally divisive the man is. If you must pick fights to deflect from your own shortcomings then do, but to pick one with one of the greatest of club legends, whose face and name is plastered all over our stadium, is the second clear sign in the last three days alone that his conduct is nowhere near what you'd expect of a manager trying, and currently failing, to establish himself at the highest level.

As for rumours of Lineker, I've heard them all and they're rumours, that's all. Two in particular sounded pretty naughty, but then again if you follow anyone's life with a microscope you'll find something awful somewhere, unless the person in question is - I don't know - dull. And that's assuming there's any truth in them!

For Lineker to reveal sensitive information, if he'd heard it through his club connections, was perhaps unwise - but the error would still be that one member of the family told Pearson that he was fired, not that someone else told us about it!

They're both errors. Lineker should've kept quiet.

Maybe, I'm not sure why he shouldn't respond when somebody is making very provocative remarks directed at him.

Any criticism of Lineker has to be made with the acceptance that what happened on the pitch with McArthur and how Pearson responded to questions about it was obviously more damaging than Lineker doing his job by discussing something which everybody else in the media was already discussing. And that what the board did on Sunday and how Pearson responded to it today (by using the coverage as an opportunity to insult a club legend whose own money and intervention was critical in us still having a team to support) has obviously caused more damage and divisions than what Lineker has said in response.

I mean, if Lineker hadn't tweeted back, we'd still have been discussing it, wouldn't we? All that tweet has done is given very desperate people a glimmer of a claim - and it is purely a glimmer - that Pearson and the club aren't the only ones responsible for this on-going mess.

I don't think anyone's tried to argue that the club or the manager have handled themselves well here. It's been blown up unfairly IMO but they are both primarily responsible for causing this.

Even so, I think putting the idea out that Pearson had been sacked does more to undermine his authority than the confusion on Sunday and his altercation with McArthur. I'm not talking about Lineker's response to criticism btw, not bothered about that.

if you're smart you don't go picking a fight with the host of the nations primetime football show.

**** off anyone hating on Lineker, what a joke these ****ing Pearsonites are, either they are all 18 years old or just ****ing stupid. Learn what a Legend is, learn what a Leicester Legend is, if they both died today I know which one would get a statue. Some people will defend Pearson to the hilt, I dont hate the guy, i don't really give a **** either way on him but seriously if he turned out to be a rapist there would still be people rushing to climb up his arsrhole. A Leicester Legend is not one that won a league 1 and championship, its certainly not one that was given a chance in the prem with a wad load of cash and made the poorest possible show of it. Jesus ****ing wept people slating Lineker here, get ****ing real, this really is at joke levels, Nigel really is bigger than the club on here, he has been ****ing shit this year, a blind man can see that, yet on here people are chuffed about being relegated because tickets will be cheaper and anyway we will cone straight back up because in Nige we trust even though he's lost the plot, is letting stubborn bullishness effect his team selections and tactics and its creating a circus show by strangling players. It's like even Nige thinks he's bigger than the club and I wonder why? ****s sake. Whether nige stays or goes i don't really care because it won't change our predicament this season, but the tedium of the defenders on here is so ****ing dull. It's like a chip on the shoulders and all the vile remarks and cocky arrogant attitudes on here come from the Staunch Pearson crowd, it rears its ugly head in every thread, just the slightest criticism and up they pop calling you a thick Twat or unloyal or clueless. I genuinely havnt seen much vitriol from the out crowd. I'm in the middle on Pearson now with a lean to gettin rid but the defenders on here are a stubborn, over agressive bunch. A lot like Pearson.

Ps. Before the spelling and grammar Nazis come for me - ive typed this in a rush on my phone.

To be honest I've seen people on both sides of the fence post aggressive and arrogant posts. Really don't see the point in personal insults on here, just proves your argument isn't very strong. I think managers and players take objection to MOTD and some of their comments most weeks so it's just a shame Nige has done it. Makes it more awkward that Gary is a club legend of course but it's his and the panels job to analyse the weekends football, good and bad. I didn't watch MOTD on saturday so don't know exactly what was said (it probably was blown out of proportion) but Gary coming out and revealing what he did yesterday was in poor taste imo.

Time to move on now and try to drag ourselves out of the shit

People need to get a grip , pearsons attitude and actions on and off the pitch are embarrassing and it's bringing the club in distribute, I was fully behind him but now he is trying to pass the attention off him to blame it on motd is just shallow , people love pearson to much because he got us out of the championship after the 3rd time of trying, I could of got us up 3td time trying anyone probs could with the money he has had ive had enough and if we don't won today il be glad to see the back of him , thanks Mr pearson good luck in future

I'm sorry but in the age and culture we live in, most of Lineker's alleged skeletons would elevate him to 'Super Lad' status.

As for the tweeting situation and spat with NP. Lineker should have left it after the first tweet. No more needed to be said and he was irresponsible to post something like that when lets be honest, it could very well just be more bullshit. Nobody knows but because its Gary saying it, everyone believes it immediately.

Going back to the original incident with Macarthur and how it was covered on MOTD, i've heard people complain when they dont include footage of Vardy being borderline offside or Nugent scuffing a shot from 18 yards so did anyone really think this wouldnt get some air time?

It was an odd incident that when it happened, my first reaction was, 'that's a bit weird' (the holding onto the shirt especially) and when you see the footage after of Pearson pointing at JM then brushing off AP, whether it was nothing or not, it LOOKS dodgy and a football highlights programme is exactly their to highlight incidents during the match.

I've watched it back and to be fair to the MOTD pundits, they dont really say anything that bad about it, just that it was really strange behaviour, which it was.

When asked about it, Pearson could have just said, 'Its been blown out of proportion. Move on.' In his usual gruff way and the press probably would have done. Instead he chose to take a pop. Unfortunately for him, he's took a pop at a bloke who isnt some anon sitting in the crowd.

We could do without this and as much as people dont want to blame Nigel, this particular media storm is down to him. His actions in the first place, his reaction to the media.

Not clever on his part at all.

Legend of the Club. Ambassador. One of spearheads in saving the club from extinction.

Or

Arrogant bully from Nottingham who abuses his own supporters and attacks opposition players.

TOUGH ONE.

Is Pearson trying to create a siege mentality or is he just a wounded man who knows his days are numbered so he's trying to take a few down with him? In the past when his job has been massively under pressure he's managed to get results but at this level with the run of games we have that looks a tall order.

I think the Thai's will be closely looking at replacements and this is where other managers agents might have a covert word with them to make them aware of their clients being interested and things will escalate later this week. I think tonight is his last game.

Posted

So the argument on Pearsons side is that he is allowed to take a jab at a club legend as other people have done it in the past and that Linekar has had a controversial incident, but the same in reverse as a response from a club and country legend who saved our club and took fines from the BBC last year for his support of us is bang out of order and petty... He has literally done the same as Pearson did in reverse and is now being eaten alive, give the bloke a bloody rest, Pearson started it, and as all of you would, Linekar responded to a very personal jab

Given how much onus the Thais seem to put on loyalty, respect and ethics I can't see them having covert words with agents whilst he's employed.

I agree though he toughest task now is the upcoming fixtures. Can't see a point until March.

Hahahaa good point, perhaps they won't but you know how it works. I'm pretty sure word would get to them from their advisors of some managers currently in employment that might be of interest. I actually worry about their footballing knowledge, although i'm fastly losing faith in the long term success of this current regime i'm scared shitless as to who'd come in, it's more blind faith that we'd get a good appointment.

Yeah given the previous two appointments were Sven and Sousa its very worrying. It could literally be anyone.

Me neither but we support Leicester - wouldn't surprise me if we won 2-1 tonight.

I think what is really sad about the Lineker situation is that it wasn't so long ago when he was playing he was, at times, the butt of the then footballing pundits. How times change.

The fact that what he did for Leicester City both on and off the field doesn't not give him the right to continually speculate on what or may not be. I know his TV role has to be different to when he was playing but has he such a short memory.

On thing which is in short supply nowadays in football whether on the pitch or in the commentary boxes is  = RESPECT!!
