EnglishOxide Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Leicester manager Nigel Pearson says the club do not want to sack him, despite reports he was dismissed on Sunday. The Premier League's bottom side issued a statement later that day denying they had sacked the 51-year-old. "They don't want to get rid of me," Pearson said after Tuesday's 2-1 defeat at Arsenal. "I'm here. I had lunch with the owners today. "My relationship remains very good, professionally and personally." He added: "I'm more than within my rights to move on from that situation now." Pearson said he spoke to Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur on Monday after the pair tangled on the touchline in Leicester's defeat on Saturday. "It was a friendly chat and the lad comes out of it with an awful lot of credit in defusing the situation," said Pearson, who avoided FA punishment for the altercation. Owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who bought Leicester in 2010, sat one seat in front of Pearson in the stands during the first half and the pair were spotted laughing at one point. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "Nigel Pearson has done a great job with Leicester. I'm surprised this team is bottom of the league. If they can keep calm and believing in what they are doing, I think they will get out." Laurent Koscielny and Theo Walcott gave Arsenal a 2-0 lead before Andrej Kramaric pulled a goal back. He was denied a late equaliser by Arsenal keeper David Ospina to leave Leicester five points adrift of Premier League safety. "I'm getting a bit tired of talking about being an unlucky side," Pearson added. "It's all well and good talking about performances. It's all right looking on the bright side of life but ultimately it's about winning games and we continue to be under scrutiny because of the position we are in." Thankfully it seems we are moving forward together. This does throw a spanner into the works on my theory that it was Vichai who moved against Nigel. Something kicked off for sure, but I'm starting to believe, as he keeps insisting, that he wasn't sacked. Either way it doesn't matter. It looks like Nige is here for the foreseeable future and weirdly I'm feeling much more positive than on Sunday despite another loss!
chicagofox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 The club may be moving together but it is certainly not moving forward.
Number 6 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Excellent piece on Pearson and this whole saga here:http://www.espnfc.com/club/leicester-city/375/blog/post/2291828/leicester-are-in-good-hands-so-long-as-nigel-pearson-keeps-his-to-himself
cc_star Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 As I mentioned elsewhere this was linked to Exactly! Can't we all just pull in the same direction now? Doesn't mean people can't criticise but support must be voracious, and even the most monosyllabic, knuckledragger of Pearson-out brigade can see he's most likely here to stay.... so we've got more of a chance being the 12th man than we have with in-fighting and the kind of antics marring our support of late If they really do want to stay up, support should help... not hinder the cause
Buzzell Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Good. Glad we're moving forward. It's about time we put these bad couple of days behind us and concentrated on getting out of the bottom three.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I just can't see us escaping. Goal difference could be a deciding factor.
MrSpaM Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Everybody just needs to get used to the fact he's here for the rest of the season now. Like it or lump it we just have to trust our squad and management to get us out of this pickle. All we can do is support the team as best we can.
indierich06 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 The club may be moving together but it is certainly not moving forward. Have a day off, will you?
MHC Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Excellent piece on Pearson and this whole saga here:http://www.espnfc.com/club/leicester-city/375/blog/post/2291828/leicester-are-in-good-hands-so-long-as-nigel-pearson-keeps-his-to-himself I enjoyed that, nice read.
Unabomber Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Having taken sustained abuse from a supporter behind him,Pearson was caught on camera hurling an expletive at his tormentor and imploring him to stop breathing.
yorkie1999 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Probably offered his resignation and the owners talked him out of it.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Probably offered his resignation and the owners talked him out of it. Any reason why this might be the case?
davieG Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 He's just staring and grinning, transfixed by his own power like a school bully getting into his stride with the chess club. It's really, really weird. Just a subjective view/opinion not a fact.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 He hit the nail on the head for me in his interview with sky, talking about how people want to replace him with someone who's going to come in and wave their magic wand for instant success, be careful what we wish for.
filbertway Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I hope he doesn't get sacked now, or he's going to sound mental.
Monk Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 After all the huff and puff of Sunday and Monday, he is starting to make some amends with the press - the performance and post match interviews on Tuesday were excellent.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Just a subjective view/opinion not a fact. I'm with you, it doesn't look like that at all to me. He appears to have maintained most of the team unity we had last season and continues in his position in a reasonably calm manner. The McArthur incident is not representative of his general demeanour.
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Anyone else read that with marcottis accent?
HoustonFox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Excellent piece on Pearson and this whole saga here:http://www.espnfc.com/club/leicester-city/375/blog/post/2291828/leicester-are-in-good-hands-so-long-as-nigel-pearson-keeps-his-to-himself Excellent article from the mainstream media on us (for once). Made me think that I chuffing love NFP and want him to stay. 6 wins and a draw are enough I think. Could be less based on this season! #KeepTheFaith

That's all we need! Come on, we can do this.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Excellent article from the mainstream media on us (for once). Made me think that I chuffing love NFP and want him to stay. 6 wins and a draw are enough I think. Could be less based on this season! #KeepTheFaith It makes me laugh. Any media article that is kind to Pearson, is always brilliant, and those that aren't are labelled as rubbish. Blue tinted specs, or what?
Xen Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 It makes me laugh. Any media article that is kind to Pearson, is always brilliant, and those that aren't are labelled as rubbish. Blue tinted specs, or what? Mostly because the ones which show him in a good light *tend* to be better researched, better written and take into account more than just the surface level detail. Articles which show him negatively this season have so far consistently failed to be based on anything more substantial than our position (neglecting performances) and the few incidents which - while negative - have either been blown out of proportion or have had countless assumptions made about them with little concrete evidence.
yorkie1999 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Any reason why this might be the case? Just trying to read between the lines. He's said he wasn't sacked but reports were he'd said his goodbyes to everyone, which i would think is where the tip offs to the media came from. If the manager's said goodbye to you, i guess it doesn't really matter if you ring someone up to pass on the info. But by handing your resignation in, you actually force the hand of your boss, it's either a vote of confidence by asking you to stay or a bye bye, either way you know where you stand and what your future is.
