Need to organise to get rid of Pearson

Neither the manager. the management team nor the board is/are simplistic enough to aim for a finish "above QPR or Burnley" just for the sake of it.

Are you and Babylon on a sponsered stupidthon? Just for the sake of it? What does that even mean?

I just stated we should finish above them, as a starting point to achieve the goal of Premiership safety. Is it always so pedantic on here? Can I ask more questions in one post? Did Pearson kill Lucy Beale?

You said "we should be comfortably above them", not that we should finish above them initially, though:

And the fact remains, as a bare minimum, we should be comfortably above QPR and Burnley. We're not, and only one person bears the responsibility for that.

To which claim I in return asked you to base your theory on some solid ground.

So far, you've still not given a proper answer as to why you think we should be "comfortably above them" (QPR and Burnley).

Because we finished a mile above them both over 46 games, and have spent at least as much as both sides?

As I mentioned on the last page, do you not think Burnleys injuries over the run in and QPR losing Austin (their only real goal scorer) for a good chunk of the season contributed to that.

The general feeling last season was that QPR were underperforming massively, so it wasn't actually inconceivable they would pick up to the level they started with last season.

It's disappointing to be where we are and I would have expected us to be at least almost level with them, but to just look at last season and say we finished x points above them we should still be x points above them only scratches the surface of it.

We only finished above them thanks to our squad avoiding the injury witch and because Burnley and QPR in particular were weakened considerably during our late surge up the table, before us cementing 1st place.

Also, finishing nine points above Burnley in 2nd isn't "miles ahead" in my dictionary.

So your saying winning a league is not an achievement thats just laughable of course it is, you go into a league to win and we have down it twice with our most successful post war manager (fact)

do you still keep that sad little Div 3 Winner scrapbook, badges and scarfs in your bedroom with your Sam Smith posters? You've got no history.

There is A LOT of revisionism about last season in this thread. I can't remember too many comments of "we only finished above them because of their injuries" last season.

Pearson was rightly being lauded for doing a smashing job in that regard last season. Just because he's doing badly this year doesn't mean we should be re-writing the past to make it seem like he has done a slightly less shit job this year.

Why can't we just accept last season for the great success it was rather than saying "we only finished 9 points clear of Burnley because of their injuries"?

Burnley got 93 points (which I think is a record for a second placed side) at 2.03 points per game. Ings got injured ahead of their home game against Leeds, which is when their injuries started to mount up, from which point on they took 23 points from 11 games (2.1 ppg). Basically the injuries Burnley had made no difference to their performance over the season - that we finished so far ahead of them was down to the job Pearson and his staff did that season, not the injuries they got.

We got 102 points for goodness sake - we were demonstrably better than the sides who came up with us and would have been in most seasons. Just because this season has been a relative balls up it doesn't mean last season' stable wasn't a fair reflection of the disparity between City and the two other promoted sides.

So, according to the Mercury, Nigel Pearson compares Villa to Arsenal, and thus played the team he did.

The bloke is off his head, or, as is more likely, doesn't have the balls to admitting he made a cock up of things, which we all know he did.  Why can't he just front up like a man, and accept the mess he has made of things, for most of this season?

We should be above Burnley and QPR but below everyone else, so we'd still go down with this logic.

Should we? Why? QPR beat us, We played shit and hit the self destruct button against Burnley and drew, I think people need realise we're bottom and bottom for a reason, I still see no proof of people saying 'There are worse teams than us in this league' it's becoming a cliche, the worst team i've seen this season is Villa, and they've beat us 2 times out of 3, that is a fair relection of where we are.

but what did the players have to show for them finishing in the top ten, nothing whereas winning a league you get medals, surely your in football to win medals not tto keep finishin in the top ten

Err we won two league cups? And finished in the top 10 in the best league in the world

Woaaaaaah. You're to not supposed to compare Mr. Pearson with anyone other than Levein or Holloway. It's the Law you know!

You've completely misinterpreted my post. We are bottom because we haven't won enough and lost too many, that is clear and I haven't disputed it.

There is a belief that because we finished above Burnley and QPR last season we should be doing better, even then we would be 18th as the 17 Premier League sides from last year would be better than us. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. We've won play-offs and finished highest of the three the next season, we've finished bottom and been the only side to bounce back.

In terms of last season's performance we should be 18th. Resources available, money spent we should be 19th. Staying up would be a real achievement and I hope we can somehow turn this around but we all start on no points and have gained the fewest for a variety of reasons.

But we shouldn't be above sides just because we were better last season, otherwise sides would finish in the same positions each year.

We could, but people keep bringing up where everyone finished last year and saying we finished "miles" above Burnley, which frankly does them a discredit. You might wish to forget it but everyone on here was bricking it until they got their injuries and then we beat them.

We were 7 points ahead when they got their injuries. We finished 9 points ahead.

We were bricking it because we've all seen enough Leicester collapses to know better. Not that it stopped some predicting a top 8 finish after the man united game this year!

Not many on here , his cult followers everywhere on here

You're kidding?!? All of the "Usual Suspects" with between 10 and 60 posts who were last here in 2013 are springing up and demanding he be sacked and are swarming through the place like Orcs through Mordor.  Most don't even go to the games and the worst are the ones who only ever listen on t'wireless.

I'll happily have a debate with anyone about Pearson in/out but starting a thread to "Organise" to get the manager out? Ridiculous. The people who are doing the so-called organising will be much quieter when we're on our 5th manager in 2 years and back where Pearson found us.

Completely agree.

Starting a thread like this shows a distinct lack of class.

It's cheap really.

If Pearson gets the chop, we can only hope it would be the right decision. It might be, it might not. But to call for it in this way is cheap.

Get rid now. Maybe even attract one of the better SBC managers with better pay, facilities and squad. We do have plenty of potential to stay up with the players we have. Accept manfully that NP has failed and taken us as far as he can. If they do keep him then get rid at the end of the season whatever because he doesn't have what it takes to improve us. Make a decision and stick to it.
