st albans fox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 I liked him, but i think this season he has proved himself to be out of his depth and an arrogant knob which one - pearson or jol ?
BlueJoe Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 I'm going to sound simple to you, but as we will probably go down, what manager is better qualified to take us up again than the last man to win the division Okay, you can argue that he should have gone months ago for better survival chances this season. But he didn't, so vent your frustrations about his tactics & his choices all you like. But trying to force him out now is cutting off your nose to spite your face. There's zero logic in it other than to please a section of fans who's disappointment blurs their vision of what's best for the club This argument is retarded he has won the championship once... If we go down we aren't coming straight back up!!!
Burbage Fox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Corky wants Pearson out and he is renowned as being one of the most sensible, intelligent (and as such boring) posters on here. inckleyfox is relatively bright and articulate and he's had enough. To be honest walking out of the ground today I couldn't really give a toss if we sacked NP or not (second time that's happened against Villa this season and I felt similarly after Barnsley), but I think that's just post-match adrenalin. The list of prospective successors means that any change is riskier than keeping Pearson on and I think that most people continue to recognise that. But effectively labelling anybody who wants Pearson out as thick is not really fair - there have been some good arguments made on here for why he should go and the best rebuttal left is "who should replace him?" Oh how I agree with you PS I want Pearson out and saying this do I now have to destroy my Masters in Mathematics
kyleolly Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 We need somebody to give every single player a kick up the arse so we are treating every game like a cup final from now until the end of the season not finding it acceptable to lose every week the only two I can think of are Roy Keane or Paulo Di Canio
shailen Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 This argument is retarded he has won the championship once... If we go down we aren't coming straight back up!!! You're right. We may not come back up straight. But who says a new manager will be able to either. We know Pearson has done it in the past, and has some experience at least, so is a tried and tested choice under working conditions he is used to. If he doesnt deliver next season, sack him then. Like when you work for a new firm, you dont know the way the firm operates, the clients, the co-workers...etc. Give continuity a chance We need somebody to give every single player a kick up the arse so we are treating every game like a cup final from now until the end of the season not finding it acceptable to lose every week the only two I can think of are Roy Keane or Paulo Di Canio both who will turn our club into a bigger comedy circus than what it is perceived to be now

He clearly doesn't know how to play this squad and we can still fight to stay up!!! Lets not write the last 13 games off because several fans are a little sentimental about a manager who has made it clear in the past he is here to do a job and that's it... After all he's not doing that job!!!
foxinsocks Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 Sorry but do you actually go to the games? I have not missed this season and I have seen a manager and a team that has not learnt a thing all season, in fact you could say that the 2 teams that finished miles behind us have learnt more. Sometimes managers and players reach a level both in aptitude and ability and I am sad to say I think we are at that level with our current one. The lack of substitutions today was a disgrace tactically and the starting formation just gave the impetuous to a woeful Villa team. The formation may have worked at Arsenal but was dreadful choice today. No-one to take his place at the minute but we need to plan for next season and that excludes NP Thanks but times up This post is, I am sad to say, right. I feel disappointed that knowing every part of the club needed to step up, np has been so slow to learn and adapt. It took till Jan to sort out playing early balls to the forwards rather than running to the byeline, it took till dec to adopt a safety first mentality to stop gifting goals. Other things like the set piece marking, our own set pieces, finishing, etc have not been adressed. This season could have made np a better manager... but he is too busy picking fights... arguing with spectators, players and lineker... these are expensive lessons and his hubris has caused him to miss these opportunities to improve himself. I am concerned that beneath his media calm he is unravelling. But the owners can't do anything without a new plan. I hope they are working on one...
CosbehFox Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 i would quite happily take any one over useless caaaaaant pearson Lovely language. He may be worth sacking but he's not worthy of insulting. He's a done a lot for us that must be recognised regardless of how this season has gone.

MHC Posted 15 February 2015 Posted 15 February 2015 I reckon he'll be gone this week at some point, I really do. Wouldn't be surprised to see someone come in on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

NotTheMarketLeader Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Has Pearson not thrown the last 3 years work down the drain this season? Yes!
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Managers in the past, who have been given the chance have done well. Like I've said, if you believe in what Pearson is doing then we may have to suffer a little bit in the short term. The players and the core of our squad is excellent, albeit the defence needs work. We have young, energetic and determined players who will only get better imo. The stats do look bleak, and we havent got the points, I am not even trying to defend that. BUT I look at us and our general play this season, and it's been very good. A new manager may be able to inspire some new belief, but I don't see our general play improving because we have been playing well. Maybe some change is needed for new found confidence and belief, but I don't think we can really improve our general play, just our finishing and cutting out individual mistakes. If someone could do a compilation of all the guilt edge chances we have missed, I'm sure people would appreciate that there isnt much else a manager can do Worryingly though how many of yesterday's team were over 30? I don't think we had very many young energetic players on show at all unfortunately there were just 4.
Wortho Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 This season has obviously been a dismal failure. The average age of the team must be nearly 30, Pearson has not a clue in this division. And we have waited 10 years for this.

MC Prussian Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Yes POSSIBLY, but Pearson's inepitude in the Premier League would take us straight back down again ! How many other newbie managers achieved safety and a finish in at least 17th position in the Premier League upon the first time of asking with a newly-promoted club?
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Worryingly though how many of yesterday's team were over 30? I don't think we had very many young energetic players on show at all unfortunately there were just 4. Yes I did comment on this during yesterday's game. Last season we were a young progressive, energetic, team who could move the ball quickly through midfield. Now we are not, and to my mind we have regressed as a team as a result
