cityfanlee23 Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Hamer Waz Huth Upson Hammond James Cambiasso Albrighton Mahrez Kramaric Ulloa This Or Hamer Was Huth Upson De Laet Schlupp James Hammond Albrighton Mahrez Kramaric Attacking we would have Kram, Mahrez, albrighton, James and possibly even Schlupp and De Laet in support, Hammond to stay back Defensively we would be able to get 10 back, bursting on the break with the speed of De Laet, Schlupp, Albrighton and to an extent mahrez
Gazza M Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 For me I would return to the tradditional 3-5-2. It gives us that defensive cover we need away, however we can go with the two up top also. I would remove Morgan from the squad for this one completely, Hamer to return to goal, with Hammond in to central midfield to break up play and we have spent 17 million on a strike force, so lets get them playing together. We have nothing to loose. I would have Schlupp and De Laet as wing backs, hopefully getting forward to get the ball in from wide areas. I know it goes back almost 15 years to the O'Neil era, but I think this could work for us. We need to win at least six of the last 13 games. This could be a huge boost for us. GK: HAMER LWB: SCHLUPP DC: UPSON DC: HUTH DC: WAZ RWB: DE LAET MC: CAMBIASSO MC: JAMES MC: HAMMOND ST: ULLOA ST: KRAMARIC SUBS: SCHWARZER, MOORE, MARHEZ, DRINKWATER, ALBRIGHTON, NUGENT, KONCH

orbison Posted 17 February 2015 Posted 17 February 2015 But you still only have two in central midfield which means no quality possession and the movement is all our boys running about like headless chickens trying to close down spaces they have no chance of doing. If you are proposing that team 4-2-3-1 then I could consider it a decent shout i was not refering to the system, more to the players suggested, why keep discussing systems when some players are starting who i believe are inferior to some who are benched, for example i would not have sclupp or alloa anywhere a team of my selection, may seem odd to some but i prefer players such as allbrighton, nugent, delaet and if played correctly knockaert.

maxwelld_ Posted 17 February 2015 Posted 17 February 2015 No one team with Morgan starting . But typical Pearson won't drop him mark my words !
Dickov22 Posted 17 February 2015 Posted 17 February 2015 Hamer De Laet Huth Upson Konchesky (sadly) Cambiasso James Mahrez Drinkwater Ulloa and Kramaric 3 centre backs is ridiculous. 2 centre mids is ridiculous. Sick of seeing us be overrun every bloody game in the middle of the park so id go with 3. Some natural width in the side with Mahrez, and some support and a bit of physicality up front alongside Kramaric.
C-man Posted 17 February 2015 Posted 17 February 2015 Hamer De Laet Huth Wasilewski Schlupp Hammond Cambiasso Mahrez Kramaric Knockaert Ulloa
dayday Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 Hamer Huth----Upson----Was De Laet ------------------------ Jeff Cambiasso- ----James Mahrez------ -----------------Albrighton Kramaric Please lets just try and play positive football for ****ing once. Swap cart horse Upson for Liam Moore, who is a lot quicker and would be just the player in front of the 3 cbs and that would be a cracking side
dbtcity Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 The fact that everyone wants hamer in basically means Pearson will stick with schwarzer
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 There are STILL so many people calling for Cambiasso in a central midfield of 2. I don't get it, never have, we remain bottom. Pearson doesn't seem to have learnt this doesn't work very well. Neither, it seems, do the bulk of the forum.

I'd like to see James and Hammond in the centre with Cambiasso just further ahead in a five man midfield, especially for this game. Them having Barry suspended could be a big plus for us.

Guest Col city fan Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 What team would u pick ? Hamer Delaet Huth Was Schlupp Hammond Albrighton James Drinkwater Mahrez Kram In a 4-1-2-2-1
crisp packet Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 Hamer Delaet Huth Was Schlupp Hammond I Albrighton James Drinkwater Mahrez Kram In a 4-1-2-2-1 451? Or 4141? So kramaric still isolated?
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 451? Or 4141? So kramaric still isolated? I don't think it matters that Kram would be up top on his own. He has energy and shows he can still score goals. I'd expect Mahrez and Albrighton to cut inside. The presence of Hammond would also allow James and Drinkwater to get forward to link up attacking play. Hammond provides the extra defensive cover without having to play a central defensive three, which gives us another attacking option.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 451? Or 4141? So kramaric still isolated? A 4-1-2-2-1 because Mahrez and Albrighton are further forward. Attacking wide men.

And the reason it has not worked is because we persist with 2 slow full backs,if Pearson played Schlupp and De Leat then Cambiassio role is a hell of a lot easier. Take the Villa game for example,I was very critical of the formation,Mahrez and Schlupp were strangled, they couldn't play there natural games because the personnel on the pitch won't allow it. We got promoted because we got at teams,we need to win games and the best way forward is quick full backs with wingers who work in tandem. I suggested Liam Moore being the covering defender because he has the pace to help out if we get stretched, that's why he would be a better option than Hammond or an Upson. Cambiasso playing in a midfield with quick players is our best option because he is the only one that can pick a pass

Cambiasso playing in a midfield with quick players is our best option because he is the only one that can pick a pass This isn't true. Last season we saw that Drinkwater could 'pick a pass'. This season, the stats are that Drinkwater has made more successful forward passes than any of our midfield. James and Drinkwater know each other's game. Instinctively they know where the other is. They are younger, fitter and more energetic. Cambiasso will have the odd good game. We've seen that. But I've felt most of the season that his ageing legs have proved detrimental to playing in EXACTLY the way you say we did last season...getting forward quickly, countering with pace. The thing that pisses me off mostly about Pearson this season is this: I retain the belief that we have a squad of players that can eventually get 17th. As a betting man, I've got a sizeable sum of money on it. But all this relying on Cambiasso, Morgan and now Schwarzer, I feel, is going to take this club down and render my bet null and void. Let's go for a change....Let's drop Morgan, get Schlupp at left back, give Drinkwater and James a chance to play together and get Hamer back in the side. Let's NOT continue to make the same bloody errors we've been making nearly all season...relying on a 34 yr old in a midfield 2, relying on Morgan however badly he's performing and not playing Albrighton as a wide man. It's time for a change.. It could be that this is just what this side requires. I fear however, that stubborn ol Nigel will keep on doing the same bloody thing until it's basically impossible to stay up.
filbertway Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 Given the fact Everton are playing on Thursday night, we really should be looking at this as a game we can win. Teams new to Europe notoriously struggle to juggle the demands of playing on a Thursday then Sunday. I really am expecting a point against these.
justfoxes Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 We need to approach this as we did second half v Arsenal otherwise another shocking performance like Sunday we will be handed our arses on a plate and suffer our first heavy defeat of the season. Need a more positive formation drop calamity Morgan that I can't see him dropped by his buddy, put Hamer back in goal leave out Konch and rest Cambiasso cause he wasn't at his best Sunday ! A great performance can see us take a 0-1 turn up like we did sunday and I'd be expecting a 5-0 spanking at least !! Hamer RDL. Wasyl hutton upson Schlupp Albrighton Hammond Mahrez Kramaric Ulloa
