queensguardfox Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 it Agree, pathetic second half on Sunday. Thought we were comfortable in the first half after the first 10 minutes though. We can't claim NP just gave up at half time though, it's out of his control when the same players go out and don't get hold of the ball. Edit: Sorry, for the record Morgan MUST be dropped for Everton. Huth, Was and Upson should be the three at the back. I think its more of a case we play better against the better teams who stay open and like to pass it around.... your arsenal's and chelsea' and the like. come against a team similar ability to our own and we cant do nothing E.g Palace, Burnley and Brom. I think we may get a shock result against one of the 'big' teams in the coming weeks.
Babylon Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 Just bloody go for it... Hamer Was.....Huth.....Upson De Laet.......................................Schlupp James.....Cambiasso Albrighton................................Mahrez Kramaric

Seems we just don't have the quality to make that final incisive pass against the lesser teams who don't necessarily have to go for it. Whereas against Arsenal, Chelsea etc the burden is on them to break us down. Cambiasso / Mahrez and Schlupp to a lesser extent have threatened to be this player in previous games, but unfortunately the rest of the team have been wasteful when chances are created. Praying we get Kramaric into decent positions on Sunday though, because he really does look a great finisher.

Close down faster and keep the ball the lesser teams seem scrap until the final whistle. Hammond was really good at that. Wasn't there a stat saying Hammond made more tackles per game then our defenders in the opening few games??
Ric Flair Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 The last time I was as un-interested in a game as this one was Hull away and we won. Hopefully lightening strikes twice!
Dickov22 Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 Definitely time for Ritchie De Laet Please Pearson!
jammie82uk Posted 18 February 2015 Posted 18 February 2015 Twelve of the 17 Barclays Premier League matches between Everton and Leicester City have ended as draws. Nigel Pearson’s side have kept fewer clean sheets than any other team in the top flight this season (4). Leicester City have lost their last four Premier League matches in a row. The Foxes have conceded 496 goals in Premier League history. Everton have failed to score in six of their last nine Premier League matches and won just one in that nine-match run (W1 D3 L5). There have been just four goals scored in the last five Premier League matches involving Everton. Everton have won none of their last four home Premier League matches (W0 D3 L1) and scored just one goal. Only Swansea (16) have dropped more points from winning positions than Everton (15) in the Premier League this season. No team has conceded fewer fouls than Everton this season (251), while only Crystal Palace have given away more than Leicester City (326). The Foxes have lost nine and won just one of their last 11 Premier League away matches.

billyn88 Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 If we are to do the unthinkable something special needs to happen here. Simply for a confidence boost and to maintain a belief we can actually do it. We do not play well and never have under Pearson when we sit back and "play safe". Take risks, 12 games I do not care if we go down 3/4 or more I just want to see something positive. Any more games like Villa we might as well forfeit the season as it's boring and frustrating to watch. Go down, fine. However, go down, fighting, please! Team: Hamer De Laet Upson Huth Schlupp The defence has pace and experience. With Huth and Upson you know what you are going to get and there experience would be invaluable at this stage. I know Pearson backs his players and more so his captain. Which is comendable. However, for the good of his captain he needs to take him out of the firing line. Wes is not a bad player he is simply desperately short of confidence. Big players have been dropped before and come back stronger for it. Rest him but give him that assurance that he is club captain his influence is needed and he needs to give up his place for the good of the team. Midfield: Cambiasso James Hammond Three players who like a tackle. Two of which can create. With two forward thinking full backs, the protection is there in Hammond. Frees up cambiasso to create and James to burst forward. Will also ensure we are not double teamed in the middle. Strikers/forwards: Mahrez Ulloa/Kramaric Albrighton With three in the middle, I do not want Albrighton or Mahrez being penned back too much. Give them freedom while still fulfilling their roles in the team. The man up top for me doesn't matter both Kramaric and Ulloa have shown in different ways that if you provide service they can finish. Albrighton and Mahrez have it in them to create chances and with Cambiasso and James there is enough creativity in the team to create. Subs: Scharwzer Morgan - experience on the bench given the sensitive nature of Upson's body. Ulloa/Kramaric Vardy Knockaert - come on, he's got something to prove give him the chance to rectify the wrongs. Drinkwater - can slip into either centre mids position. With the possible switch of Simpson for RDL (although his time out of the side could see him return with renewed vigour) I couldn't agree more with this. While the player who has disappointed me most in the top flight is Drinkwater, the biggest positive surprise is Hammond. At Anfield we put together some of our best and most productive passing moves and he was like a little metronome in the middle of the park. There is a fair bit in our favour for this one with Everton returning from Switzerland and, with all due respect to ourselves, Leicester at home on a Sunday not being the most glamorous tie to get motivated for, we've got a better chance than it would first appear. Then I'll see the team sheet with a back five and lose all optimism.
benpicko Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 That's been said for about 4 months now. Yeah and it says a lot about how shit everybody else is that we can still say it

A midfielder with defensive qualities is a key position in the top flight, while it would hinder our attack in overwhelming numbers in the 2nd tier All season I've been crying out for NP to play a midfielder as a CDM, apart from the odd outlier it's practically essential to be in this league
cc_star Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 Think Everton's appearance in the Europa League will help us out? Think again, sides appearing in the Europa League average 1.41 pots per game on the Sunday following EL Thursday night action, while they average 1.43ppg normally. The difference is marginal, at most! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31470797

Daveaway Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 we all know and expect that Pearson will have Morgan and Schwarzer in, some reason he cannot and will not drop Wes, don't know why!!
RedSoxUK Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 Hope Young Boys kick Everton in a little bit, then delay their flight out of Switzerland.

Dan Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 I see Everton as being similar to Arsenal, but not quite as good. A similar style of play which leaves us gaps - gaps that we exploited at Arsenal without actually having the finishing touch most of the time. That, combined with the fact they play away in Europe tonight, is why I believe we need to go for all three here. I'm not saying we will win the game, but this ought to be viewed as a winnable game. They all should, but I mean realistically, I honestly don't think it's beyond us to get something from this. Pearson, get the team right, I BEG, it's been too long.
Danno Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 People want Liam Moore back in the starting 11 hahahaahahhahahahaahha
Domsdad Posted 19 February 2015 Posted 19 February 2015 Good to see Lukaku finding some form..........
BrummieFOX Posted 20 February 2015 Posted 20 February 2015 Yeh essential Pearson gets the team right here. Should go without saying but he's got it horribly wrong too often recently. Secondly, I feel we need to press Everton as much as possible and take advantage of their fatigue from last night. Stay in the game as long as possible and look to nick something later on. An early Everton goal or two and we're done. Confidence will be nowhere near what it was at Liverpool now.
