Big Men Hoofing the Ball Up to Little Men...Whats the Gameplan there Nigel?

My season ticket holding friends around me in the stands yesterday were as incredulous as I was yesterday at the 6ft+ back three hoofing it up to the less than 6ft forward three, missing out the (uncreative) midfield.

Just what were the tactical masterplans worked on for the last 10 days that led to this shambolic effort?  Or did the players and coaches have 10 days away from each other?

Upson looks like a bloke whos won a prize to play for a professional team,  Wes Morgan cannot perform at this level (his passing is atrocious, and he's that confused when defending that he is always falling over............Huth looks good surrounded by such rubbish.

Why is Wesalowski not planning when Upson and Morgan are? Its a nonsense.

However if the MASTERPLAN is that we are going to HOOF IT, should it not be 3 little ones, hoofing it up to 3 big ones, and not the other way round?

I don't think it's Wesolowski's job whoever he is to do the planning  ;)

It's the easy option for the players just to get rid of it, when we try and pass and move we don't look a bad side.

It's not rocket science - with two in the midfield, there is no simple pass available for the defender who has it. too easy for the opposition to 'split' our players and keep their shape further back. all that's left is a chip pass to the front or a long hoof into the channels. PL sides have done their homework and drop deep, stretching the pitch lengthways and denying our quicker players the chance to get in behind off one long ball. Ironically, that stretching of the pitch would allow a midfield three room to manoeuvre the play and open up some avenues for us to exploit. shame those that count can't see that.

Not saying it's right, but the defence and Schwarzer had no option but to hoof it long due to a lack of support angles from the players around him, they were set up and reacting to a 2nd phase ball, where the ball is hoofed up to the forwards expecting the defender to win the header and then have it fall to us on the drop, being higher up the field than before, which is a tactic used and can be misread as a "long ball to a small man"

Think you're being overly harsh on Upson tbh with the amount of playtime he's had after a long injury but Was should definitely be playing no matter what really

They were lumping it because Hull put Huddlestone on Cambiasso for a lot of the game and gave us virtually nowhere to pass to. Long balls are fine if they're in behind the defence but punts in the air to the likes of Bruce and Dawson are just hopeless.

I'd have like to have seen Mahrez dropping off to win the second ball or maybe James getting up higher to  do the same but in all honesty they were as crap as Villa and a better team would have put 4 past us yesterday.

Why is it that paying punters see the problems, and point out the solutions, and the professionals on and off the pitch cant vary the plan if Plan A (if hoofing it is a plan) doesn't work,  Whats the point in players and coaches continuing to play

Plan A

Plan A............................................its bl**dy tedious.

Putting my season ticket further away from the dustbin, in case I get the urge to save petrol and life, and not bother watching us score NIL every home game.

I agree, but when we pass it we aren't good enough, when we hoof it we aren't good enough, when Pearson make decisions HE isn't good enough. Our mentality is weak and we aren't strong enough to grind out even a point or hang onto a lead (on the rare occasions we are actually in front). Generally then no one is good enough

He is hoping either Kramaric or Vardy can do a Bamford type dummy and turn the defence, but obviously they aren't as good as future England international Patrick Bamford.

We wanted a team where we flooded the central midfield with players in an effort to control games early on in the season and now we play with just two.

Little wonder we bypass the midfield then.

Three at the back only works when the midfield unit know their roles. Just watch the MON years back Pearson to have any clue as to how it can work. Yesterday no one knew their roles. Joke Pearson, clueless.

Was just thinking it has been at least 5 minutes since we've had a brand new thread about why Nigel Pearson isn't a good manager. We are very lucky to have so many tactical geniuses on this forum.
