Kasper 9 - World Class saves

Back 4 all 7s

Albrighton 7

Drinky 6 - Thought he was quite sloppy at times.

Ndidi 7 broke up play well kept it simple.

Mahrez 8 - Always dangerous.

Okazaki 8- His link up play and ability to hold the ball is superb. We look better when Shinki is on form.

Vardy 7

Musa 2 - What's the point.

Slimani 2 - Would be nice if he tried to jump.

Chilwell 6 - Bright.

Shakespeare 6 - Thought we invited pressure second half and his subs were wrong.

West Ham 5 - Poor.

Referee 3 - Inconsistently poor.

Funny i thought Ndidi had his worst game and was far more sloppy in possession than Drinky.Lost count of the times Ndidi gave the ball away  but to be fair they both looked shattered in the 2nd half.

Harsh on the ref, seen a lot worse.

I do sort of agree... just thought Drinkwater was worse out the two. But yeah I think most players looked tired second half.

Kasper   10  Faultless

Simpson  8 Competent

Huth    8    In the air Carroll is a match or any centre back but Huth  battled with him well

Benalouane 8  Lack of premier league experience didnt show...and if his free kick effort from in his own half had worked it would have been goal of the season

Fuchs  8   Class player..when he is up for it, today he was

Albrighton  7  ...brilliant pass with the outside of his foot for the 2nd goal but a few shockers as well

Ndidi  7 excellent work rate and defensive headers ...not so comfortable on the ball

Drinkwater  7  comfortable on the ball but shouldnt have dived in and given away the free kick for the 1st goal..West Ham  play for them with Lanzini in the side

Mahrez  6  Overdid things too often ,running into blind alleys..but the pace of his crosses are difficult to defend

Vardy  7  His pace gave the centre backs problems all game

Okazaki 7 Did what he does best ...chased and harried non stop

Slimani   5  should have scored ...but by the time he came on we were not getting in any crosses which is his main strength

Musa  5   supplied the ball which Slimani should have scored from..but looks low on confidence

Chilwell  7 Very comfortable on the ball and held it up well to relieve the pressure on the defence...not sure i would rely upon him defence though

Shakespeare 8 looks to have the confidence of the players

Ref  7...strong and wasnt swayed by the home crowd..but some of the free kicks looked soft

West Ham 5  were asleep for the first 25 mins ..tactics seemed to rely on high balls into Carroll and winning free kicks near the edge of the box

First game I missed since the 5-2 Arsenal game. Luckily we won this time!

Those criticising Craig for trying Musa and Slim as subs have to let him give these players a chance to show they can up their game too. If we base players on their performance earlier this season under CR then we'd struggle to find 11 players that deserve to start. And it's true these two players weren't part of our special title winning season so may find this sudden change in intensity difficult to immediately adjust to.

I'm okay with them making the odd appearance, just as long as they don't persistently play if they aren't performing to the same level as the rest. We know Gray can do it and Amartey seems fine to slot in wherever needed. The jury is still out on Musa and Slim. Even Musa has had occasional glimmers of what he can do - Everton in the cup and Barcelona friendly. He needs to be playing at at least that level on a regular basis though or be condemned to the sidelines and replaced in the summer.

Schmeichel - 9, best form of his career.

Benalouane - 8, glad he's been given a chance to restart his starting berth claim again. Maybe he needed it some period out  and trust back in him again after some time out - which has seemed to have benefitted in terms of how he reacted here.

Vardy - 8, Without him being in-form, the team would have been low on confidence and hence returning to Ranieri's era this season and lacking in ideas too.

Albrighton - 8, suddenly he's become another vital asset to have in the team - with tracking back but also keen to get up the pitch.

The rest - 7.

Musa - 5, had a poor run out, but he's been low on confidence for a while now, but once it comes back - certain he'll be at near his peak again.

A disappointing display from Moose to say the least but I still believe he'll shine for us... someday! He just needs more minutes to get in form, but I can't see Shakes dropping anyone to accommodate him. Same goes for Slim who still doesn't look 100% fit after the injury.

I though Drinky and Ndidi were a bit off, West Ham overwhelmed us in the middle and last 20 minutes or so were almost too much to handle. Our possession must've went down from 60% in the first half to 30-40% or something in the second, a pity none of our midfielders tried to hold the ball. If it wasn't for Kasper...  He was MOTM obviously, couple world class saves, absolutely heroic performance. Benny proved he can do the job on the Prem level, kept a cool head the whole game, can't say I'm surprised, well done to the lad.

It's only 10 points to safety! :scarf:

It became quite clear we needed additional assistance in central midfield once Shinji went off. No matter how you look at it, we don't function well with just two central mid-fielders, it has to be 2.5 which pleaded for the use of King or Amartey in the closing stages.

I still don't understand the reasons we turn to Musa. Every squad member will be keen to get involved yet we turn to a man who's shown weaker evidence of being effective in the Premiership than anyone else.

No, I've not given up on the bloke. He's got pace and finishing ability, even if both seem to have been severely rationed since his arrival here. But he seems very little use  as a supplementary midfielder who can also support a striker. Truth is he struggles with one job let alone two.

In military terms we left N'didi and Drinky tackling overwhelming odds in midfield when Amartey could have provided height and added muscle or King could have provided cool passing under pressure and at least a bit of late-arrival support up front, even if it might have been a little bit later and scarcer than in the past.

I even wondered if we could nip over to Ipswich a bit quick, and bring in Tom Lawrence for the last 20 minutes! :)

The crisis really exposed our limitations and our lack of specialist depth.

But seriously, why? Why would we turn to Musa in that situation. Had we been chasing a late equaliser or intent on exposing a struggling full-back, sure. But to supplement a defensive situation by offering an outlet? When has Musa offered that in all his months here?

He's not the best at resisting a physical challenge, not an instant controller of a ball, he's an indecisive and unreliable passer which gives him 0/3 in terms of basic requirements. He's fast and has an eye for goal given space, but that wasn't the essence of our need at the time. And, we'd have paid for the choice had it not been for Kasper's brilliance.

Since when does a goal score and 2 plays directly linked with a goal merit a 6/10?

Actually a 6 is average+ so that is probably right for mahrez.

maybe too much considering his average this season.

As I said 6 for Mahrez, I obviously wasn't serious. But I expected people like you to give him this kind of rating, although he was one of the bests on the pitch.

It's hard to detect sarcasm on this forum when there are members like @Royston. on here

one question, do people have a personal vendetta against mahrez or something, he does more than okazaki and albrighton on offense and he is playing good defense but they get all the praise for doing half of what he does while he is labeled as "average", 2 goals and 1 assist in the last 3 games, many one on one passes, 4 dribbles and 3 tackles a game. i can imagine how would this forum have reacted if it was gray doing that, he will be labeled "the best young player in england" in no time, i hope he leaves this summer, some people dont deserve him here, he gets alot of abuse for no reason.

It's pretty weird. Got a feeling they either never liked him, prefer more basic players with no flair that run around or look busy, or Mahrez' playing level was so high last season anything he does now is called average.
