HankMarvin Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 LEICESTER CITY boss Sven Goran Eriksson is set to agree terms with England one-cap wonder David Nugent – at the launch of a huge signing bonanza. Nugent, 26, is a free agent after leaving Portsmouth and Leicester are the only club in the Championship who can match his old Premier League wages. Eriksson is prepared to pay £2.5million apiece for two more strikers – Fulham’s Andy Johnson and Peterborough’s Craig Mackail-Smith. He also wants Jonathan Woodgate, released by Tottenham.
themotivator Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 were you hear this? ...wait googled it, from The People http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/football-hotline/2011/06/26/david-nugent-set-to-join-leicester-city-102039-23226856/ not sure waht to think about this yet
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 AJ is a crock who took a few penalties for Palace a while back, and has dined out on that ever since. No thanks, Fulham would be laughing if we paid £2.5 million for him, and he must be on some ridiculous wages.
thybluefox Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 AJ rumour is a tad out of left field, no ta. Wouldn't read too much into this article though tbh.
kingfox Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 The people is always a load of bollocks. Andy Johnson never in a million years.

Im sorry.. but we are Leicester City.... who are you actually expecting us to sign if Andy Johnson isn't good enough?
m00nie Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 whens the transfer window shut.. this is getting crazy now.. this rate it will be 1-1-9 formation.. @ the no thanks brigade also.
21st Century Fox Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Do they just have a checklist of players Sven capped for England to use when they're low on column inches.
MattyR Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Never rated AJ much, but i'm sure he could do more than a job in the championship!
Clazie Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Isn't AJ linked to West Brom? I'd be surprised if we could get him down here.
MPH Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Isn't AJ linked to West Brom? I'd be surprised if we could get him down here. West Brom sure do have a habit of signing the players to get them promoted....
Bellend Sebastian Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 My sister in law once had to go round to Andy Johnson's house to get him to turn the music down, which he did. That's more than enough reason to sign him, I reckon
oxford blue Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 I'm not surprised Woodgate is still looking for a club - far too risky with his injury record. He may have to agree a pay as you play deal - although it probably would not be as good as the one he reportrdly rejected at Spurs. Even pay as you play deals are not attractive for most clubs as they wiould always need someone who can step in; effectively 2 players to cover one position. So no thanks to Woodgate!
80footgiraffe Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 I would take them both, but I am doubting that we would get them. Prefer woodgate over johnson though, would be nice to get them both, would be impressive for the championship.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 AJ yes please. He's a proven goal scorer in the say style as Tony Cottee IMO. Woodgate would be quality too, but we'd all be worried with this one due to his injury record I guess. I'd say yes on a pay as you play deal tho.
crisp packet Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 no thanks ?? Who do you want to sign ????????!! Pmsl........
roblcfc84 Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Johnson would be a very good signing at this level. It's important to remember where we are now.. Not where we believe we should be in 12 months time. With that in mind this would be a top signing.
davieG Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 http://hammyend.com/index.php/2011/06/leicester-want-aj-for-2-5m/? Tucked away at the bottom of this People piece linking David Nugent with Leicester City is a suggestion that the Foxes are about to bid £2.5m for Andy Johnson. Should Fulham sign a couple of forwards during the close season then Johnson may find himself surplus to requirements at Craven Cottage, something that would be harsh on the former Everton striker given the impressive way he ended the last campaign. QPR are known to be keen on signing the one-time England international, although their previous interest appeared to have stalled once Fulham suggested the asking price would be closer to £4m. For that reason, I’d be surprised to see AJ depart for such a cut-price fee.

shiv Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 If they both joined I wonder how many games they'd actually manage to play in a season before they both got injured...
sdb Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Not keen on Woodgate. CMS, AJ and Nugent are all decent but can't see them playing together as a front 3. Maynard would still be my preferred choice and Derbyshire would fit well into the system imo.
Collymore Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 The people on here who are saying no to AJ are disillusioned. Would be frighteningly good at this level.
