manchesterisblue Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 Alright foxes fans Man City fan here in peace! Just positng to see how Johnson was against Real? Really think if he stays fit he could help greatly to crown you winners of the Championship, he has been very unfortunate with injuries and depression following the injuries and I have no doubts he would be very much in our side if he wasnt so unfortunate. I think once he stays match fit you will see his tireless running from box to box and his wide range of passing. Always thought he was our most talented youth product and I am sure many other fans would agree. Anyway wish you luck this season and hoping a club of your size can come back to the premier league to stay, also got to say love sven and was truely gutted to see him go! Itsthejoeker Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 Came on in the second half, looked technically good, but unsurprisingly unfit. Really have high hopes for him, think he could be brilliant this season. What did you think of Gelson Fernandes while he was at city? Best of luck for this season! Charl91 Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 I only managed to listen to the radio stream, but from what I heard he looked knackered after 15 minutes. However I didn't see the game, and it's clear he has a lot of quality, so hopefully the fitness will come in time. Good luck in the future by the way. Man City are my favourites to win the league (well, behind Stoke, but that's not going to happen...) - especially as we've been dubbed the Man City of the championship
Narborough_fox Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 He glided past a couple of players and made one run but was just caught offside as he looked to pull the trigger but in all he didn't look match fit and was struggling after 30 minutes but I'm sure as he plays more competitive football his fitness will improve. Once he gets fully fit I can't wait to see him but until then I'm not expecting what we saw when he was in your 1st team a couple of yeras back. Easily my signing of the season on paper. Really have high hopes for him, think he could be brilliant this season. What did you think of Gelson Fernandes while he was at city? Best of luck for this season! Gelson is a good footballer, he just came in at a difficult time for himself. As soon as he started to settle we were taken over and with inclusion of De Jong (who I rate as the best around in his position) he found it difficult to get into the team and then in the summer we signed Barry plus numerous other players. I do think he is a prem player so I believe he will do well. Also always rated Matt Mills as a good young player at us but the clueless Stuart Pearce never gave him a chance! Glad to see has made a good career for himself though.
Fox92 Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 Obviously he looked unfit but I do think he'll become a good signing for us. When he used to play regular for Manchester City, I used to rate him, I think he is a technically good footballer and, when fit, might become key. cairnsy Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 Looks very promising. Just needs to get fitness up so I'd imagine he will come on for the last 30 mins after a month of training or so and become more involved after he regains fitness
Corky Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 Didn't look totally fit understandably and took about 20 minutes to touch the ball. However you can't expect too much too soon with his injury problems. If we can get him anywhere near match fit regularly he'll be another option for Sven. dominicmsb Posted 1 August 2011 Share Posted 1 August 2011 There was a first time through ball he played into Vassell against Real Madrid and you could just tell he's going to be quality when he's fit. He said he's been playing reserve football since December.

Glad to see has made a good career for himself though. I remember being very impressed watching Michael Johnson when he broke through into the 1st team at Man City, and I think that if he can become even half that player again for us, then he should be up there with the very best in this division. I seem to remember thinking he reminded me slightly of a young Gascoigne. It will be a while before he's completely match fit, and if we and him are lucky enough for him to stay injury-free, then we could have a real gem of a player on our hands. I have to say I don't remember seeing Fernandes play for Man City, but when it was first rumoured we might sign him, a member of this forum claimed he would "cum in his own gob" if we landed him. I think it sounds like he knows how quality Gelson is, and with that sort of comment of approval, I can't help but get excited. About Fernandes joining us. Nowt else. Whenever the Foxes aren't in the top flight (getting a bit too used to it now), I like to make Match of the Day more interesting by looking out for 3 teams scores. Man City are one of those, mainly because I love to see them beat the dirty reds. Who couldn't hate Man Utd, and who better to see beat them than the club they claim not to care about - their "small noisy neighbours". I think it's only a matter of time now before football in Manchester is flipped on its head, and I cannot wait. I hope to see lots of little glory-grabbing twats crying when Man City beat Utd to the league. Yes, when and not if. Good luck for the season ahead! Guppy Posted 3 August 2011 Share Posted 3 August 2011 FootballAgentPM Peter Morrison Every now & again you have a day where everything go's right. Today was one of them. #transferwindow He put this 2 hours earlier, wonder if it has anything to do with us seeing as he was watching us train? Any news appreciated. I was wondering why he hasn't been involved in any game since the Madrid friendly. He did look some way off fitness-wise in that game, but surely he would've featured in the game against Bury had he been free of injuries...? Raw Dykes Posted 28 August 2011 Share Posted 28 August 2011 he played against Rotherham and still didnt look match fit / was very rusty. He's injured for 2 weeks at the minute. I'm relieved to hear he's only got a minor injury. I hope he can get close to match fitness soon. I can't wait to see him play a few games in the league. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up as one of our best players later in the season. Even if he isn't involved, but is fit and available, it might give King some motivation to start getting involved more and playing as well as we know he can. Bryn Posted 28 August 2011 Share Posted 28 August 2011 I imagine he's a long way off fitness, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a month or two, not including time spent injured.
Bugg Posted 28 August 2011 Share Posted 28 August 2011 This was in one of the articles on the OS previewing the Southampton game: "Michael Johnson is the only player we have taken out of normal training," he said. "He is doing his own specialist training and is maybe a week and a half away.
lcfcnoely Posted 28 August 2011 Share Posted 28 August 2011 He must be pissed off, he joined to play first team football and so far he hasn't even made the bench let alone the starting 11 must be fitness, if he can reach the level of Performance he had a few years back he would be our best player without a shadow of a doubt.
